Actually, You are losing your touch, linda. You are becoming irrational and generally obnoxious. Because of those faults, I would not classify you as a "strong Bush supporter"...not at all.

I'm off to watch a football game...

Hey Linda_K you old liar. My kid is in college and he didn't get or did any of his buddies get emails about the upcoming draft under Bush. How I know is I was at his college this past weekend. I asked a lot of the students if they had heard the rumor coming from the Pentagon about a new draft under Bush if he gets re-elected. John Kerry will not re-instate the draft like Bush plans to. Only chicken hawks like Bush/Cheney will need to re-instate the draft for the mess they call democracy in Iraq. World leaders will work with Kerry to end the Iraq mess. The world leaders will not work with Bush Cheney.

Now I see the Bush government has to barrow another 7 Billion OR MORE dollars and add it to our National Debt to aid the people in Florida. Why because Bush/Cheney spent the surplus we Democrats left him. Bush only helps old greedy lying money counters like you could get tax cuts. Its DISGUSTING what Bush and people like you are doing to this great country all in the name of GREED.

Its funny how when somebody else brings up the 'same-type tactic' being done, the retort is oh you're irrational and in need of some help. (btw, Linda, I think you are your same self as always if that matters here any...lol!!)

At least the republicans know their base and are fighting tooth and nail for it. Whats the dems doing? Lolly-gagging along.
..
Maybe they should learn some 'tactics' of their own!?

Helen, if Kerry could convince younger kids they might be drafted, they just might vote for him! You act like there's something wrong with that...but its not beyond the realm of possiblity. We are still at 'war' in the ME.

"Helen, if Kerry could convince younger kids they might be drafted, they just might vote for him! You act like there's something wrong with that...but its not beyond the realm of possiblity. We are still at 'war' in the ME."

I'm afraid that I have overestimated the intelligence of the American people in general. It's being revealed to me daily that my confidence in that respect is not justified. So, neroter I'll have to admit that I had not thought of the possibility that young people would be happy to be drafted to serve in a war that might possibly be led by a bunch of criminal war mongers assuming that Bush might be reelected. That young people would want to be involved in a war which was a violation of international law...justified on false pretenses and a war that has obviously become unmanageable chaos is unlikely in my opinion. But, neroter, you have a point and I could be wrong.

Helen, the point is THEY WOULD 'NOT' Want to be drafted. Isn't kerry promising not to re-institute the draft if elected? Listen, I am a casual observer of culture, but frankly, the repubs have a point because I watch the news, read the newspapters, etc. and *I* really dont know what the helz Kerry IS proposing, or what he stands for!! Maybe the debates will help clear that up.
..
..
No Maggie, she only reiterated what I said. If the dems have a strong point, why arent they using it?

After this statement by Cheney and their attempts to link Saddam and Hitler it wouldn't be a difficult case for Kerry to make. This scenario, mentioned by Cheney, "on the scale of World War II", may not be out of the question with Bush/Cheney at the helm.
Worries persist about military draft despite official denials

At a campaign appearance in Oregon last week, Vice President Dick Cheney said the all-volunteer military remains America's best option and it would take a crisis "on the scale of World War II before I would think that anybody would seriously contemplate the possibility of going back again to the draft."

Here is a good summary of why a draft will be needed if the current foreign policy continues.

This is too funny.

There is no need for a draft. President Bush has said many times...there is NO need for a draft. It's again democratic scare tactics. kerry, dean and clevland are telling voters republicans are likely to do so. The bill proposed by two democrats has sat there for over a YEAR and has, at this point, ONLY 13 supporters. Does that say anything to those who can actually THINK - obviously not the dems who want to scare the voters?

As for the success of Kerry's anti-democracy protests and his leadership of the VVAW and association with Fonda's Winter Soldier Investigation, General Vo Nguyen Giap, Vietnam's most decorated military leader, wrote in retrospect that if not for the disunity created by such stateside protesters, Hanoi would have ultimately surrendered.

Yeah and Bush said there were WMDs in Iraq.

Bush also said that our military was not meant for and not to be used as nation builders.

ROTFLMAO !!!

Yep, reamond - just like the rest of the world believed too. AND the only reason the UN stayed involved in the 12-13 years process of getting saddam to disarm.

"The bill proposed by two democrats has sat there for over a YEAR and has, at this point, ONLY 13 supporters."

These bills were introduced in 2003, based on false pretenses, as we now know--certain Democrats made a strategic calculation (a mistaken one, in my view) to raise the specter of sending not only the poor and the working class (the core of the "volunteer" army) to war, but also sending rich white kids (the kinds whose fathers are Senators and Congressmen) via a military draft. (All 14 Democrats who sponsore the House bill voted against authorizing the war with Iraq.) The ploy failed, as all the world now knows, but the bills remain.

If Bush is re-elected, the fact that these bills were introduced by Democrats will be hugely advantageous as the Bush Administration has to confront the deteriorating military situation in Iraq and Afghanistan; its inability to meet the actual terrorist threat because of the military venture in Iraq; and the demoralized and disenchanted volunteer army.

So, the war mongering crook is all set!
