In a nutshell, I found the debate to be boring. I heard nothing new from either side. Now, the interesting one will be Friday night's townhall format. That is where Bush will falter the most. Maybe this time he'll keep his faces hidden. Like my mother always said, "Don't roll your eyes at me". I kept hearing that voice throughout the entire presidential debate. I heard her say, "Don't slouch" during this vice-presidential debate.

Cheryl, I missed the first debate but I saw Bush on TV this am. He is getting better at public speaking! He made a statement that got a roar something to the effect, "well, when they twist such-n-such, is it any wonder one doesnt make a face? lol!

Whats-her-face Coulter said, "we dont care if he stumbles over a few words; we care about what the meaning of what he says is" on msnbc last night....

I dont think Edwards should have addressed him as "Mr. Vice President" (thats way southern polite) - as it reinforces the idea, that HE is the vice president. Anybody agree with that?

Are they required to address them as such? I wouldnt think so, but I remember something about addressing presidents and ex-presidents...

neroter - To me it's appropriate and respectful. I know whenever I hear someone address the President as Mr. Bush...I think that they're showing disrespect....and it doesn't matter if it's a dem or a republican. I think they've earned a certain place in our society and it's like calling or referring to a doctor as Mr. Jones rather than Dr. Jones.

And I wasn't raised in the south.

What was that beeping I heard in the background of the debate last night. Was it the low battery sound coming from Cheney's pacemaker? I could not make out what Edwards was saying with that darn beeping sound throughout the debate.

Linda- I'm glad you pointed out respect.

Bush didn't show Kerry respect when asked if America would be attacked if Kerry was elected as President. Instead, Bush ignored the question and instead did a personal cheer, "Give me a B, Give me a U, Give me a, oh damn, I forgot what I was doing..."

Cheney didn't bother to respect Edwards by lying about meeting him in the past, and at the end of the debate, Edwards thanked Cheney and the moderator for their time. Cheney simply thanked the moderator.

Neither Bush, nor Cheney know anything about respect and proper etiquette.

yellowstone- pointing out the rules??? ok. how about Cheney changing the subject to education when it was supposed to be about foreign policy? Neither played by the rules perfectly. If you want to point out Edwards actions, perhaps you could at least give a fair shake on Cheney as well. I also remember Edwards realizing that the moderator accidentally gave him another chance to a rebuttal, and he acknowledged the mistake by her and quit speaking. By no means were the rules followed perfectly by Cheney, Edwards, the moderator, or the audience who I heard laugh once even though they were instructed to remain quiet. They all broke the rules.

Hi Linda. Yes, it is a certain respect to that and I suppose its proper ettiquette. Just seems to me someone opposing him or wanting his job would not allude to that. But good for Edwards he adheres to that ettiquette. I cant remember if Bush or Cheney were addressing them as Senator ....

Stop, I am in the mood for a good movie. Seems nothing lately on tv that holds my interest very far. I think I will stop by blockbuster tomorrow.

neroter - I failed to mention my agreement with you on that point. I do agree.

Bush didn't show Kerry respect when asked if America would be attacked if Kerry was elected as President.

Because kerry's done nothing to earn respect from him. After all the lies they've made about him, I think it probably took all he could not to punch him out. On the 'attack if kerry were president'....that would be a disaster in the making. kerry has continually voted, against funds being spent on our military, their care, on needed war fundings, on defense missiles should WE be attacked, on our intelligence agencies,
the list is a mile long for crying out loud. Kerry could no more defend this nation that he can paint his own fingernails

Cheney didn't bother to respect Edwards by lying about meeting him in the past,

Again...after what the dems have said about their administration, I'm surprised they can even sit next to him. And I don't believe that tiny little memory slip was as important to our country as all the mistatements Cheney had to correct edwards on during the debate. It was an oversite....and I can understand why someone in Cheney's position would have been so unimpressed with edwards as to forget meeting him before.

Or..who knows...it might have been an intentional slip...like knowing edwards knew they'd met...but using that as a way of discounting edwards importance in his life.

and at the end of the debate, Edwards thanked Cheney and the moderator for their time. Cheney simply thanked the moderator. cool....another little sly insult to one that has made huge one's to him and their administration.

Neither Bush, nor Cheney know anything about respect and proper etiquette. Sure they do...and they hand it out quite easily to those they feel deserve it. And act the opposite way with 'phoneys' that are always willing to pretend all is well, then turn around and stab you in the back. That's why the one dem got his little bit of 'respect' from Cheney when he used the 'f' word.

Yes, and it simply shows the lack of professionalism by Cheney and Bush. You hit the nail right on the head Linda. You are the first to cry about a personal attack. You chastise others for what you deem is immature behavior, yet you defend the Vice President for his lack of professionalism, respect, and etiquette. Flip flop Linda has once again backed herself into a corner and is punching holes in her own arguments. We'll see more of Bush doing the same tomorrow night.
