linduh:"Why don't you show all of us that you're really not stupid and I actually said any such thing. This is your biggest problem. You take what righties say and then twist them into your own propoganda speel"

libra, why would you look up the word "wackey" ? Who used that word...not me. I used the word "wakey", as in Wake Up. Rhymes with quake.

Why were you looking up wackey, which isn't a word ? Rhymes with cracky...... look under "Libra".

Hey Crow, I can't remember what Linda K said awhile ago. Was it something about not caring if children were killed or starving in Iraq. Or was her statement that she didn't care if children starved here in America by shutting down the Wix Program. Or did she make both statements. I can't remember can you?

She sure can get out of answering questions and facing the truth,,,,,slick........

GEEZZ, Bigpeepa, I'm so frustrated that you haven't heard "Big Ed Schultz's" radio program yet.....don't know if it's available in PA yet but should be soon....it's spreading like wildfire. And you love Big Ed!

Lets see now....peepa can't grasp that it's not a CUT just because it didn't get MORE funding than the dems wanted, which would only increase the deficit even more. We have been through this time and time again when the lefties here want to 'twist' what is really happening. They say "xxx has been cut". But anyone, upon further investigation will find there WAS NO CUT made....the dems are just complaining it didn't get funded at a higher rate.

Just like in the border security thread ol' peepa tries to present it as this President failing to protect our borders. But one CAN read he has TRIPLED the funding for that purpose. And on HomeLandSecurity....becase this President chooses to use the funding in a different manner for controlling our borders.....that side of the story is omitted on purpose.

You don't have a clue, peepa, as to what's even going on....and your lack of knowledge shows in almost all your posts.

taken from a link, which I've already provided, from CAGW.
Bush's Proposed 2006 Budget [in part]

Department of Homeland Security:
·                    Discretionary spending increases by 7 percent to $34.2 billion. [gee....where might that be spent?]
·

Transportation Security Administration increases from $4.9 billion to $5 billion (+1 percent)
·
Raises maximum security fee from $3 to $8 paid by U.S. airline travelers.
·
New $600 million program for targeted infrastructure protection grant.
·                    Leaves out funding for mandates from last years intelligence overhaul bill, such as adding 2,000 border patrol agents to prevent illegal immigration.
·                    creates new $848 million Office of Screening Coordination and Operations, which would oversee the granting of credentials for transportation workers, improve transportation security technologies and manage overall policies and technologies for the border, transportation and immigration divisions
·                    Creates new $227 million domestic nuclear detection office.

peepa - What was your statement about education?

This President has proposed for the
Department of Education:

New $500 million program to provide state grants to encourage top teachers to work in low-income schools.  Includes $50 million for districts to implement merit pay programs.
·                    $1.5 billion for extending No Child Left Behind to high schools.

More education benefits:

Pell grants are being increased.

New $250 million program to provide job training for high-demand industries at community colleges.

------

What I like about his suggestions along with his recommendation to cut government money from NPR and PBS is his:

Bushs Management Agenda

Bush asks for line-item veto.
which I think all Presidents should have

Bush proposes sunset commission to require all federal programs expire after a certain point in time unless lawmakers act affirmatively to keep them going.

[i]then we won't have the constant new programs added but never eliminated.]

Bush proposes results commissions to evaluate programs that have the same goal but are operated by different federal departments.

Bush proposes changing personnel rules to move federal government toward a pay system based on performance rather than seniority. [which I also agree with]

Bush proposes new budget point of order against legislation that would add benefits to Social Security without paying for their long-term costs.

This year the White House did not include in its newest budget the billions of dollars the Pentagon needs for projects and the Iraq war.

Again, you don't know what you're talking about.

The President has proposed that the Pentagon's procurement account frozen at 2005 level: $78 billion.

I haven't figured that out yet but if someone has a good defination then maybe I can understand what he is referring to. He keeps babbling mind set, her mind set. He just keeps it up.

What I do know is that I would never vote for a traitor like many in this discussion board did.

Sorry, L sisters Linda K and Libra, your smoke screens and twisting of words aren't working any longer. You have both become too transparent to the readers here. Looks to me like people are becoming more informed about what this White House is doing to them.

Hey middle class America, get more informed for yourselves and judge for yourselves what is White House is doing to ya. Trust your own knowledge.

Read this White House budget closely. I don't see many places where the Rich are being asked to endure any hardships like the poor and middle class. Look at the White House cuts and UNDER FUNDING of programs for the poor and middle class.

This White House already has a proven track record of catering to the rich and industry while the poor and middle class are getting less and less.

Kerry: Traitor, Not Hero
An article worth reading:

Veterans Should Politically Banish Kerry for Disgracing The Marine Corps Memorial
by Major Richard G. ("Rick" Erickson

On the cover of The New Soldier by John Kerry and Vietnam Veterans Against The War, hippies clad in a mismatch of military uniforms are pictured mocking the legendary image of Marines raising the American flag atop Mount Suribachi in the 1945 battle for Iwo Jima. Today, the Iwo Jima image is a memorial statue that sits above Arlington National Cemetery and honors all Marines killed in action since 1775. It is one of the most recognized and visited sites in our Capitol City.

The New Soldier never made it on the reading list at our military academies. In the cover photo that ridicules the Marine Corps Memorial, one of Kerry's cronies is tugging on our flag, which is hung upside down as the ultimate symbol of sedition and treachery to all veterans who rallied behind our flag in battle. On the day of that shameful photograph and with its mass circulation on the cover of The New Soldier, at least 6,821 Marines who died at Iwo Jima turned over in their graves.

Of all the reasons why John F. Kerry will not become President of the United States, the biggest reason has to be that, once he returned home from Vietnam, he betrayed his fellow servicemen who remained at war. Kerry not only allied with the likes of Hanoi Jane Fonda, but, before the United States Senate in 1971, Kerry went as far as to belittle the bravery of embattled troops by generalizing their every action in Vietnam as an atrocity.

No one questioned General George S. Patton, III, when he accused Kerry of treason in giving aid and comfort to the enemy, especially when it was revealed that North Vietnam incorporated Kerry's exploits into its communist propaganda machine. However, because of the prevalence of treason at the time and the monumental task of prosecuting Kerry and his proclaimed 'revolutionaries,' Kerry's actions went unpunished and the associated advances of communism went unhindered.

Fortunately, today's veterans and Americans who overwhelmingly support our armed forces tend to disparage those who dishonor military service and then pretend to be capable of our country's highest office. This political reality afflicted Bill Clinton, whose anti-military past kept him from winning any more than forty-nine percent of the popular vote. No wonder Kerry's presidential campaign is doing its best to subvert his estrangement from veterans and service people in general.

The tact of Kerry for President looks a lot like Clinton-Gore's approach to deceiving voters that such an obvious liability is really the opposite. When Kerry marched in the Veteran's Day parade in Phoenix last year, in tow behind him were a few people carrying 'Veterans for Kerry' placards. Some placard carriers looked like the ragtag types on the cover of The New Solider in that they were unshaven, wearing circa 1971 clothes and appeared disoriented.

The ongoing insult is that 'Veterans for Kerry' is supposed to represent the veteran community's support of Kerry, when the reality is that very few veterans support him. Most veterans cannot forgive Kerry for Vietnam Veterans Against The War and its promotion of communism when we were fighting communists. As far as U.S. Marines are concerned, we ought to ensure that Kerry is forever banished from the White House for dishonoring our Memorial on the cover of The New Soldier.

Where's his proof that it's "most"?

Besides , you're pro communist so you should like Kerry IF you think he sided with the communists.

I like PBS sometimes. I wouldn't want to see it choked out of operating from lack of funding.

Did you mean it should be wholly listener supported? I doubt they could do it on that. They don't have that big a market share even though they have some wonderful grantor's.

dblfugger - How civil of you to ASK....rather than make false assumption or lie about what I said. A refreshing change for sure.

Yes, I have previously posted, on a different thread, that I do not believe the Federal government needs to support public radio. There was a time when it was necessary, imo, but that time has long passed. There are many radio shows that ARE self supporting by listener contributions. Just look at AirAmerica....clinton and daschle are major contributors to keep that on the air.

We are in a place, budget wise, where we NEED to cut to help bring down the deficit. This is one area I think can take care of itself IF there is enough support for it.

The largest problem I have trouble understanding is when the dems SCREAM about the deficit....but don't want anything CUT or held at last years spending levels. They can't have it both ways. Of course, the Congress will make the final decisions....and I doubt many on the left will like them no matter what they are. They're not in control and are dealing with the frustration that they aren't in a position to keep adding to the deficit spending. Many of them would like to cut spending to the military as the past administration did to a GREAT degree. But the world has changed and I don't believe there are many democrats in Congress that are interested in make big cuts to the military at this point in time - no matter the reaction we see here on these boards.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Four More Years....YES!!!
just to clarify a little more:
when peepa accuses me of:
I believe this dangerous woman and other people of her mind set want to tell other Americans what they can and cannot listen to. That was a lie. I have no problem with what people choose to listen to...I just don't think the reason the government funding started is currently a factor... a reason for the Fed government to be subsidizing it. Let those who use/enjoy it pay for it.
Linda K you are right we do need to cut the National Debt this White House has given America. Lets cut some tax shelter laws to the rich,drug companies and industry first. Lets not cut some kids change to go to college by underfunding programs like the Pell Grants. Maybe I missed it and other readers can show me. What budget cuts will be felt by wealthy Americans or industry? I am sure there must be several so the poor and middle class aren't enduring the budget cuts alone. Its not my intention to correct Linda K so often its my wish other people would really look into what this White House says and what it really does.
You lying old (smoke screen) when you said you were all for cutting funding to Public Radio you didn't have the overall budget in mind. We all know that. Now you are degrading yourself by trying to lie out of your statement now. You disgust me. I do not like phony people like you and never will.
