OK. Here's a fun thread that comes up about every three months or so. So here it is again.
You have taken the time to create a "handle" for yourself. Please make a post and tell us how you came about your handle and what it means. I'll go first.
Borillar: is a minor character in a series of fantasy books by Stephen R. Donaldson called,"Thomas Covenant the UnBeliver." A stupid name, but a terrific saga.
When I first started with the Internet, I used AOL. I found that my usual handle(s) were all taken up and I thought that adding numbers behind the handle was severely tacky (it's an accepted practice nowadays, appearently). So I went through as many interesting names out of books that I could think of, but all were already taken. So I opened up the Thomas Covenant series and searched for a really obscure name! I found a minor charcharter and that has been my name ever since.
Also, I dropped AOL a long time ago.
What about yours?

Well, my real name is Johanne (middle name Christine). When I was a kid, my friend used to call me Jo-C. When I started going on the internet a few years ago (OMG! It's 4 years this summer LOL) I wanted to come up with an interesting way to spell Jo-C, so I came up with Jozi.
It doesn't end there!
When I was a kid, I thought that the city of Johannesburg was really cool because it was spelled the same way as my name. It was pretty neat to look at the world map and find my name on it.
A bit of internet research a few years ago revealed to me a really neat coincidence: The name Jozi is also the nickname of the city of Johannesburg. Not only that, but there is a radio station there that has the letters JOZI as its call letters.
Now you know... the rest of the story...
Neat huh? LOL

Great idea for a thread!
Equestrian: represents my passion for what I do - riding horses. I have been involved with horses the majority of my life - due to the influence of my mother and her lifelong obsession.
I ride & teach - mostly Dressage & Hunter/Jumper. I've done Three Day Eventing and gone all through Pony Club - It's a great life!

Mine is a character's name that I created when I used to play D & D (many years ago!). I got the name from two types of fairy and/or celtic goddesses from the D & D book, Gods, Goddesses, and other deities. I had made another character that was related to this one whose name was Sana Telona. Now you know more than you really wanted, huh?
This is an interesting thread though!

My "real" name is Melissa. Meya was the nickname that I gave as a child to a Great Aunt of mine named Mary. She was very important to me over the years, I spent a lot of time with her when I was growing up. I lost her in February of '97 after a 5 year nursing home ordeal.
My AW name is in memory of her, but it is the only place I use it.

Great thread! Anyone else out there with a good one?

As a jewelry designer I wanted a name that sounded professional, and made it clear that I DESIGN my stuff, I don't buy it at Wally's and resell it. I started thinking about my habits and realized that my REALLY good stuff comes from ideas I get in the wee hours. Alot of times I will be laying in bed at 2:00 am with a gorgeous necklace in my head, and I positively CANNOT sleep til I do something about it, so I get up and make the thing..OR at least draw it on paper..
There ya have it..

Everybody (except my mom) now calls me Victoria.

When I used to go to science fiction conventions I hung out with some of the SCA people so I picked an SCA name - Kyna Asbiorne (spelling on the second name is from memory and highly suspect). When I started using the net I thought that my SCA name would make a nice change of pace from my real one.

"Peachy77" because I live in the middle of a bunch of Peach Orchards (that's the crop in this cluster of counties in Georgia)...and because I was born in 1977. And because we have about a kazillion different stores here with "Peach" in the title, like "The Big Peach" antique mall (where I began my soft sculpture doll collecting hobby) and The Peach Factory Outlet.
Kinda' dull now that I think about it, but HEY, I like Peaches, and they're everywhere I look. And when our next baby arrives in late October (maybe early November), I'll call her "Peaches".
I'll be tired of the word by the end of the year. LOL
