No, I believe I was making a comment to Linda in reference to what our bookkeeper told us about me having to be 68 before I am eligible to collect my social security, regardless if my husband passes at an earlier date.

Regardless if I need it or not...it is my money to collect...is it not?

Bill Moyers...Class War is what it is...

And they are proud of what they have done to our economy and our society. If instead of practicing journalism I was writing for Saturday Night Live, I couldn't have made up the things that this crew have been saying. The president's chief economic adviser says shipping technical and professional jobs overseas is good for the economy. The president's Council of Economic Advisers report that hamburger chefs in fast food restaurants can be considered manufacturing workers. The president's Federal Reserve Chairman says that the tax cuts may force cutbacks in social security - but hey, we should make the tax cuts permanent anyway. The president's Labor Secretary says it doesn't matter if job growth has stalled because "the stock market is the ultimate arbiter."

Let's face the reality: If ripping off the public trust; if distributing tax breaks to the wealthy at the expense of the poor; if driving the country into deficits deliberately to starve social benefits; if requiring states to balance their budgets on the backs of the poor; if squeezing the wages of workers until the labor force resembles a nation of serfs -- if this isn't class war, what is?

It's un-American. It's unpatriotic. And it's wrong.

LOL - so says another whining leftie

Just like the whining righties on this board that are in favor of Bush's SS plan. Let's have private accounts so our children will have something invested for their retirement. Let's be able to pass along our excess money to our children.

It ain't only the left that is whining, it is also coming from the right.

Absolute faith has been shown, consistently, to breed intolerance. And intolerance, history teaches us, again and again, begets violence.

Bush will fix Social Security just like he has fixed Osama Bin Laden and Iraq. Bush can't be trusted to run this country and you want to trust him with your retirement?

Just heard on the radio from a SENATOR who VOTED on the bill that in the bankruptcy bill the DEMOCRATS wanted an amendment to protect VETERANS whose bankruptcy was related to their service for OUR COUNTRY.

The REPUBLICANS SAID NO!

The anti American Republicans who obviously don't believe in supporting the troops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why? What the f--- difference does it make? If their bankruptcy was caused by their service to this country they SHOULD be protected....they fought for YOU.

Next YOU'RE going to say it's because they're lazy slobs or dead beat dads or something else totally irrelevant to the fact that the REPUBLICANS do NOT support the troops! And just proved it, again!

You made the statement about bankruptcy and veterans and I just asked you a question. No need getting in a huff about it. It would have been easier to say you did not know instead of looking like the idiot you are. But with this and some other posts you made you can't seem to control your self. Your language is sure becoming you crowfarm.

Bottom line: credit card companies now make half their profits from penalties and late fees. They actively seek out customers who are likely to miss payments and end up in a penalty fee spiral, and they make a fortune from them. In a normally functioning market there's at least a small incentive to limit loans to these high-risk customers, namely the possibility that they might go bankrupt, and the bankruptcy bill before Congress is a brazen attempt to remove even that small but annoying incentive to act responsibly

Credit card companies, want the ability to make risky loans, but they also want federal protection that protects them from bearing the risk that goes along with making those loans. That's a pretty cushy setup, as long as you can buy yourself enough politicians to make it happen. Apparently they can.

That is what I mean. This is my explanation why they shouldn't be exempt? When in the service the soldiers do get a housing allowance, they get free medical care. In fact they get a lot of perks so I doubt that it would be because they were a soldier. What they need to do is take each case separately and see what, if any military problems caused bankruptcy and go from there. These soldiers even get free tuition at a state college for retraining. Now if when the soldier is fighting the war and the wife or husband over uses the credit card should they be able to file? There is still chapter 13 and I am sure they would qualify for that and that doesn't require a lot of pay back. I don't agree about the National Guard soldier because most joined the NG to get that extra paycheck because they thought they wouldn't be called up. Well it doesn't work that way. I understand that they did get a hefty bonus but when I find it I will post it.

Now I don't believe that Senator Kennedy should be sponsoring that amendment with the happenings in his life. We weren't at war and he didn't save the person in the car with him. JMHO

Well crowfarm he shouldn't. Maybe some upstanding senator, that is if the democrats have one, should submit that amendment and it would have more merit.

See when someone comes back with a logical answer Crowfarm and Maggie just laugh but that was no laughing matter. Maybe if the shoes were on the other foot and you were the parents of that girl you would feel differently. Are you laughing about death maggie...remember when you got mad at a certain poster because he critized your daughter? What is the difference?

The difference is it happened 40 years ago.

He has been a senator since then......YOUR career hasn't come close to his!
They keep electing him so he must be doing something right for his constituents.

Calling him a name, "alchy", is insulting to anyone who has been addicted to alcohol...... LIKE BUSH!

You sling those insults at your beloved president ???????

I am not laughing at the incident...I am laughing at YOU!

No.. Libra, I am not laughing about death...
I'm laughing at the way your brain misfires all the time.. the medical term is "Brain Fart"
brain fart noun. Quick-and-dirty creative output. The byproduct of a mind stuffed with food for thought that can therefore produce information without effort.
A momentary, correctable glitch in mental processing, especially one involving recall of information learned by rote; a bubble in the stream of consciousness.

I have done more in my career for people than the drunk Kennedy or you. I saved lives, did he? did you? and what have you done in your career? Since I don't know what you do but I do know it must be something not in the service department or you wouldn't have had to take a pay cut.....

Take a look at what alcohol did to him. Lost his wife because she bacame an alcoholic. Divorced her and married someone else. Just like a true upstanding individual.

Wow maggie you are fiesty today. Remember you didn't like a certain poster to critize your daughter. It is plain and simple. What Kennedy did was horrible. Alchol played a big part in it. The people in Mass. are certainly stupid. Kennedy, Kerry.
Oh well thank goodness they only have 1 vote in the senate. No I didn't mention Pres. Bush because he is not an alcoholic. When people become responsible they give up things unlike Kennedy. As you can see by his face he still drinks.

Now you are sounding like crowfarm. Insults thrown around like candy. Whats the problem maybe you had better go out in your 79 degree weather instead of sitting emailing crowfarm back and forth and posting nastyness in this discussion board.

Then you are laughing at crowfarm and I can see why because when you and her speak it is one big joke.

From a political bio/platform site:
Arrested for drunk driving, plead guilty, paid fine. (Aug 2004)
A "carefree lad" who drank but never did drugs. (Aug 2004)
Spiritual reawakening ended beer and bourbon consumption. (Aug 2004)
Changed license in 1995 to avoid DUI arrest disclosure. (Nov 2000)
Acknowledges arrest for drunk driving in 1976. (Nov 2000)
Quit drinking when alcohol started to compete with family. (Sep 2000)
Identifies with former addicts based on former alcoholism. (Jan 2000)

libra, the whole world acknowledges bush's drinking problem which he has passed on to his daughters.

Arrfff...arrfff...grrrr..yip..yip...

Talk about feisty... you're a regular little pit bull puppy these days Libra!

I would like to remind you that I don't tell you how to post (except when you spell huge incorrectly) so please don't try and tell me how to post either.. and it is so very (kind?) of you to keep mentioning my daughter... are you picking up where Twelve left off?
It's quite amusing to hear you and other's always complaining about people name calling and being insulting... when you do the same thing over and over again.. only you sneak them in..

I don't know who you are referring to when you mention the career thing.. But if you were talking about me...you are correct to assume that I haven't saved anyone's life...
but I have certainly brought such extreme joy to some that they thought they had died and gone to heaven!

The "bottom line", helen, is that if a person CAN pay back part of what they've borrowed, they should. And this bill changes nothing for those who can't.

Why would you hold the position that people shouldn't have to pay back SOME of the debt they've built when they can, helen?
