classic , why don't you go get your old shriveled rocks off by emailing a phony question to an ebay seller?
Maggie, as long as we're imagining....
what if there really is a "hell" and this is it?
Maybe we all lived before, were very naughty, and this is what we got.

I hope I have piqued your interest a little on a subject that I find facinating... my family and friends have stopped listening to my "fantastical Ideas" they think I am teched in the head.. LOL
So.. if you wouldn't mind indulging me just a little longer with one more itch I need to scratch...
Perhaps this ever-life already exists. Perhaps there exists a God.. but what if "the Creator" is actually superiorly evolved being(s)..who have this all figured out already... and what if, just perhaps, maybe, we are their experiment.. in cloning or what ever... okay, I'm done.. LOL

The creator can't be an evolved being. Evolving to creator would require a system already in existance that would allow the lesser being to evolve to a creator. The less evolved being couldn't created the system it existed in.

Maggie, I've heard that idea before and I think it came from a guy in England....that maybe we are some kind of experiment by another life form.
But consider my "hell is here and now" theory. It is hard to picture because we, as earthlings, are very ego-centric...thinking in terms of our own reality that the earth is the center of all things.
Doesn't HAVE to be.
There could be other planes of existence that we just don't know exist.
Think it over, Mags, wouldn't this be a more perfect hell than that silly cartoon "fire and brimstone" bible stuff?
And maybe after we die here we go back to the "real" world to start over.......

I agree 100% Crowfarm. Different realities in different dimensions could exist at all times. As for hell, these are man-made ideas. There's no such thing as good and bad.

You may be right Crow.. but I have a lot of problems going that route, since it validates religious beliefs that I don't accept...an all powerful God dealing out punishment and revenge.....
But if I may play devils advocate for a moment, let me say this about your theory...
It wouldn't necessarily be Hell for everyone here...it would be Hell for the "bad ones..the sinners who would be doomed to a life of punishment dealt in varying degrees , from torture, a life of strife and poverty, to lesser punishments like being a Democrat in a time when only Republicans would be in power..at the same time living among the good ones who live a blessed life"
Wow...maybe you have just answered an age old question!!!!!!!!!
If it is Hell here on earth for the sinners from a previous life... then that would explain what seems to be such inequality on earth.. why some people must suffer..why unimaginable atrocities are suffered by some.. we always plead to our Gods to know "Why"...well...maybe like you said it is their punishment for previous sinful life..
But as I said.. to much of a religious connotation there for me..I prefer Aliens!

KD - Your statement, "There's no such thing as good and bad."...surprised me.
Would you be willing to explain what you mean by that? Are you saying there are no evil/bad people in our world...and that you wouldn't consider [say] child molesters behavior to be bad/evil?

Maggie, you got my idea in one quick shot! Most people just can't imagine it because of the aforesaid "ego-centricity"..
You said, "But as I said.. to much of a religious connotation there for me..I prefer Aliens!
"
Maggie, could it be a combination of both? Maybe neither! .... a different entity that we can't even imagine ???
After all, there is no proof of a god or gods or space aliens....maybe whatever it is prefers having people make up something rather than know the truth.

And, Maggie, you say, "an all powerful God dealing out punishment and revenge.....""
I always thought that sounded very petty especially coming from an entity that I was told was kind, loving and forgiving!
But if this was some kind of punishment we're right back to square one!
WHAT IS IT ALL FOR! What IS the purpose?
??????????

Linda, I mean in the grand scheme of things. Societies need rules to be able to control stupid people, but let's say if a person was totally alone in the world, what could they do that was good or bad? (Hope you know what I mean.)

Crow.. there is no purpose. We exist and then we don't. Aliens, Gods, layers,levels..our purpose is what ever we want it to be..
How about this.. we exist as a result of the
"big Bang Theory" no, creator.. just evolution.. now I'm out of here before I'm pummeled to death by the Christian Righties..

I believe that when you die and are buried that you live on in whatever plants or animals {worms} get sustenance from your dead body. When I die and am buried, I hope they plant a tree on top or near me, even if it's just a funny looking tree. People would drive by and say; hey that sure looks like a funny tree and then everyone will know that I am buried there.
As far as what's most important in life I would have to say that the people that you come in contact with that you make them smile. You sure don't want people to frown whenever you're around.
And Crowfarm, the concept of Hell is something that was created from religious beliefs. In my opinion to scare people into believing or following certain religions.

Playing around on the internet tonight and found this:
Night of the Jabberwock. Brown, Fredric (William Morrow & Co, 1984)
An enthusiastic Carrollian discovers through a group of admirers known as the Vorpal Blades that Carroll's stories are not fiction at all, but realistic descriptions about another plane of existence.
