The two cases are NOT AT ALL ALIKE....that's the reason. There was no disagreement on the actual condition of the patient. There was no one refusing tests, treatments, medications in the other case. There was no husband involved who had conflicting interests in seeing the patient die.
Many, many differences....not at all the same.

Linda, the two cases are alike in the following manner whether you like it or not.
Michael Schiavo was adjudicated by the courts of the state of Florida to be in charge of his wife and the decision to pull the feeding tube. The Florida court's handling of the case was upheld by the federal courts system. Therefore Michael Schiavo was in charge of the decision. Whatever he chose was the decision and was not dependant upon the Schindlers. Virtually everything they did was based on emotions and very powerful ones at that. Likewise the Delay family was in charge of the decision to pull the plug on their father. There was more cohesiveness among the Delays than there was in the Schiavo case.
You speak of conflicting interests in the Schiavo case by which I suspect you mean divorce, money etc. The Delay family benefitted financially when they sued Midcap Bearing Corp. and Lovejoy Inc. You don't think there is the same kind of conflict there? Daddy Delay dies, family gets money?

Hello kraftdinner and Linda_K
It's amazing to me that the same people who are for the sanctity of the man/woman marriage are trying to destroy the sanctity of this man/woman marriage.
Now the parents are whining about not having control of her body after she passes.
