Double, what does the meaning of the word holy have to do with anything? Helen posted many things she admired about the man, including that he was against the war in Iraq. Are you saying because she's an athiest, she can't talk about the Pope?
P.S. I don't see anyone flinging anything at you. Who?

dblfugger9, one thing I don't believe you understand. The majority of Christian people don't really believe the radical right religious groups are truly Christian people. A lot of us think they just call themselves Christians. You know the type, like the radical anti-abortion crowd. They want to stop abortions but at the same time don't want to spend their money on social programs that help feed and take care of unwanted babies. This kind of people are not true Christians they just call themselves Christians.

bigpeepa, how do you figure you speak for the majority of Christians? I really think you've gone somewhere here with this minority/majority thing you got going on in your head lately. Now, if you want to tell me there's different factions of Christians and or dissent from strictly biblical teachings, I will agree with you. But I for sure do not know what constitutes a minority or a majority of what Christians think. Also in your mind, are Christians only catholic? Because they're not, you know.
Helen, I have no complaint of your respect and admiration of the Pope. In my opinion, ::repeat:: in my opinion, I only sought to point out to you the man is first and foremost a bishop of the catholic church, and that being said, I dont believe this is one person you can seperate his politics from his religion. His whole adult life revolved around religion. I dont really expect you to understand it. It's not like I can even profess to say I understand the grandiosity or magnitude of it either. I dont. But I know in order to be a cathlic priest, you foreego believing you are in any way independent of God. Thats just the way it is for them. I thought you should at least understand that is the way its presented and believed in by the catholic clergy.

Double, I'd ignore you if I didn't think you were worth talking to. I'm not complaining either. I'm just trying to find out how you think about things.

Dbl... The fact that religion motivates the Pope has no bearing whatsoever in my estimation of his contribution to the people of the world. I am not a militant atheist out to disparage all who believe in God or who believe differently than I do. I believe that I understand the religious nature of the papacy just as well as you do.

How do you get a straight answer from Dlbfugger, who doesn't even know the difference between a chicken and a duck?

I see your point but all I really want is a halfway coherent answer that I don't need to use my secret decoder ring to decipher.

Hey dblfugger, The Pope was against abortion. He was also against what he called the wicked form of capitalism being brought to the American people by this White House and people like you if you support it. I am seeing whacked out non-Christian people that are hiding behind and thumping the bible. This bunch is only covering up their non-Christian self-serving greed. I also see non-Christians that hide behind the Bible to commit crimes against all American truly Christian people. These non-religious people.
1- shoot Doctors at abortion centers.
2- Bomb abortion centers
3- support leaders that make laws to end programs for the sick, needy and poor.
4- make death threats.
5- People that don't support the separation of church and state. Like the non-religious WACKOS that sent me the email posted below.

Dear TVC Supporter,
For 40 years, the anti-God Left has been using America’s courts to impose an anti-religion, anti-family agenda on America -– an extremist agenda that politicians (even most liberals) would never dare vote for.
And, ultra-liberal Democrats and the ACLU are leading a well-funded, orchestrated campaign to block the confirmation of President Bush’s pro-family federal judge nominees.
We need TVC Supporters like you to stand up today and help TVC turn up the heat on Senators in all 50 states to override Senators Ted Kennedy, Hillary Rodham Clinton, John Kerry, and their liberal Democrat allies in the Senate ...
... and insist on the immediate confirmation of President Bush’s federal judge appointments (some of which Senate Democrats managed to block for more than two years).
Together, we can force action on President Bush’s judicial appointments if the Senate sees overwhelming public outrage over the liberal Democrats’ obstructionist tactics ... and their ongoing efforts to hijack the courts for their anti-God agenda.
TVC is launching an all-out assault to reach and rally 2,000,000 politically-active citizens representing all 50 states and all 435 Congressional districts.
We must tell every Senator and Congressman exactly what kind of judges their constituents want sitting on our federal courts and the U.S. Supreme Court interpreting the laws of our nation.
I AM VERY GLAD THE REAL CHRISTIAN AMERICAN IS SEEING THROUGH THIS WHITE HOUSE AND ITS PHONY REPUBLICAN CONGRESS.
