Toward the end when he was becomming angry, you could see where the make-up he had on was coming off. The redness in his neck and across his forehead was visible. No amount of make-up can change his true disposition. It was a crock full of lies. IMO, he proved that he plans on going after Iran. With that, you may as well say your goodbyes to the ones you love. Iran is NOT Iraq. Iran can kick our ass.

Iran has weapons that Iraq did not. They will use them. We are not the only country with weapons that can kill at the drop of a hat. That's what I meant by that statement. Go after Iran and then you have Korea. I think you may need a reality check if you think, with our troops as exhausted physically and in numbers as they are, we can win that battle and win it WITHOUT reinstating the draft.

Cheryl, that's hilarious! It should be a bumper sticker... "even make-up can't hide Bush's disposition". Good one!

Cheryl,
The republicans just can't defend their failed leaders in the White House and Congress any longer.
The republicans made a big deal about Iraq's new government. Telling all of us about all the progress they have made. They even said because of less violence and more Iraq police and army our brave and tired U.S. Troops might start coming home soon.
Just where is all this progress? Is it stepped up bombings that are killing and wounding more U.S. Troops or is it the Billions more being spent on Iraq?
Now that more and more Americans are seeing how bad Bush and his republican controlled Congress is failing America. Is Iran their new WMD ploy and scare tactic?
Now about the Bush S.S. plan the truth is now coming out. Yes, the American Middle Class will take cuts in money under his S.S. plan and lots more money will be added to OUR national debt.

Peepa..even if we get a Democrat into office in 2008..the damage is done and we will inherit the mess...and the debt...I don't see how it will be possible to turn things around for a very long time to come..do you?

maggie, You are right about a lot of damage already done. We don't have to wait until 2008. What can we do? Try to hold out until 2006 election and take the control of Congress away from these guys.
Help keep the filibuster in place. There is a lot of level headed republicans that also don't like what is happening to America.
Call elected officials and tell them what you want. Get you friends and family to call.
Go to Churches and set up meetings to counter guys like Fisk and DeLay.
Go to Labor Unions meetings for ideas and support.
Support Public Radio the radical republicans are after what we can listen to.
Email friends and family about what is happening to them under Bush and Congress.
Join and support groups that believe in what you think.
I know your a smart Gal and I am sure you also have good ideas.
I also realize its an up hill battle with the radical right but I am sure we can get together and slow them down now. Plus start turning things around in the 2006 elections.
All the information I see these days prove there is a lot of discontent among the majority of Americans. Lets all get together and focus that discontent on slowing these radical crooks down NOW and start a movement to DEFEAT them in 2006. We all need to remember that a lot of these crooks only got elected by JUST a few votes and it will only take a few votes the other way to defeat them.
Can't we all see that several republican elected officials are in big trouble and are doing there best to distance themselves from radical right republicans.
Its not going to take much to change the balance of power because the radical right are showing the American people what they really stand for. Now that the American people have seen it the majority don't like what they see.
IT'S MOST IMPORTANT FOR ALL AMERICANS TO GET INVOLVED AND INFORMED. THAT WAY YOU CAN MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND WHAT IS GOOD FOR ALL AMERICA.

Peepa.. we do what we can down here, but believe me it isn't easy living in the red belt!
Whew... the last time I opened my mouth and spoke my mind about the Bush's fascist regime...was in my exercise class...you could have heard a pin drop... they were outraged and astounded that there was a Democrat in their midst!!
I was lucky to make it out of there in one piece.. if looks could kill.. I'd be dead...
What I can't for the life of me understand is that in a state as poor as Mississippi.. the vast majority vote for the Republicans.. the party for the rich and selfish...

Maggie, 50/60 years ago the republicans were for the rich and business. Today they are still for the rich and business. The only difference I see today is the republican party is better able to hide their greed by hiding it behind the Bible.
The republicans silent motto today is
PRAISE THE LORD AND PASS THE MONEY!!!
Isn't it ironic? The Bible talks about helping the poor, lifting them up. Jesus was a good one for that. Yet, your holiest of holy are supporting a party that doesn't give a crap about the poor. Hypocrits.
"In case some one of your brothers becomes poor among you in one of your cities, in your land that Jehovah your God is giving you, you must not harden your heart or be closefisted toward your poor brother. For you should generously open your hand to him and by all means lend him on pledge as much as he needs, which he is in want of... You should by all means give to him, and your heart should not be stingy in your giving to him, because on this account Jehovah your God will bless you in every deed of yours and in every undertaking of yours. For someone poor will never cease to be in the midst of the land. That is why I am commanding you, saying, 'You should generously open up your hand to your afflicted and poor brother in your land." (Deut 15:7-11).

Great posts everybody!!!
So hopeful to see people who REALLY know what's going on in this country !
I love the irony(?) of people thinking atheists are nasty and evil because they don't believe in a god or gods and yet so many who DO believe in a god PROVE their hatefilled nasty ways everyday.
I believe in helping the less fortunate.
I believe in paying taxes ....FAIR taxes.
I believe in earning enough money to live on WITHOUT making others suffer....Republicans just believe in making money...and more money ...and more money....their "god-like" goal is to accumulate money for no other reason than to accumulate money at the expense of others.
Well, Colin, bush is going to need a blessing or something to make up for the horrors and hardships he has dumped on so many.

Cheryl,Crow & Maggie,
I believe were the radical religious right go wrong is they believe God is on their side.
I believe the true Christians believe and pray they are on God's side.
An example of this is Reverend Colin says "God Bless President Bush". I say God Bless America. Why, because I don't believe what President Bush along with people like Tom DeLay and Bill Fisk are doing is very Christian like.
Looks to me like a lot of Christian people are now remembering the Bible says BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS.

I believe many of the gripers on this board; do so because they are having problems in their personal life. Do you agree?
I'm not saying that's a bad thing (the griping). I think it's important to be able to vent. I do find a problem when anger and hatred are directed towards a person or group of people.

Rev.Colin,
I am only speaking for myself. I complain big time about what this White House is doing to the middle class and poor people of America. My complaints are not based on any personal problems. My complaints are based on this White House using religion as a screen to hide behind while they worship their all mighty dollar. I believe people like Bush,DeLay and Fisk are phonies that only use religion to divide concur and confuse the thinking of the American people while they make very un-Christian like laws. The laws they are making are designed to make the rich richer plus make a much larger division of class in America.
WASHINGTON — Strains imposed by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have made it far more difficult for the U.S. military to beat back any future act of aggression, launch a preemptive strike or intervene to prevent conflict in another part of the world, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a classified analysis sent to Congress on Monday.
In a sober assessment of the Pentagon's reduced ability to deal with global threats, Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers said that the American military was at greater risk this year than last of being unable to properly execute the missions it needed to prepare for around the globe. The assessment states that the military is at "significant risk" of being unable to prevail against enemies abroad in the manner that Pentagon war plans mandate.
Myers' conclusions were couched in highly diplomatic language. But they represented the most candid acknowledgment thus far by a senior Pentagon official that the U.S. involvement in Iraq — which has cost far more in lives and money and taken much longer than predicted — has led to a reassessment of what the U.S. military can and cannot do abroad.
And it comes against a background of rising tensions with Iran and North Korea over the advances both countries have made in developing nuclear weapons, as well as continuing evidence that insurgents remain capable of inflicting bloody losses on coalition troops and Iraqi security forces.

What you and many other Lib's are doing is pasting this Christian Extreme Right) BS on all Conservatives. This isn't the case.
It seems the left is pointing at anyone that believes in God and saying they are fanatics.
Sadly, what I see in these messages is this, lots of lonely people looking for a new friend, anyone that will agree with them. How many of you would spend a weekend with those you so feverishly cohort on this board?
I’m not saying many of you do not have valid arguments and concerns, I’m saying beware of those that take those concerns and validate them with untruths. This reminds me of people I’ve met in the KKK, SDS and other like groups.
A couple other things:
First, I too believe that DeLay is the scum of the earth.
Secondly, I’m not a false prophet.. I’m the real thing. I’m the prophet of having a good time.
Isn't it your president (and I say "your" because I don't consider him mine) that is always bringing up God? God told him to go to war (sure He did). He truely believes he's on a mission from God. He truely believes God is on his side. It is Bush and some members of his party that are hell bent on destroying the Constitution to please those on the extreme religious right. This is one case where a few bad apples do spoil the whole bunch.
Someone else has said it better than I:
God Told Bush to go to War
by Kevin
First, what kind of idiot needed God, or anyone for that matter, to tell him that he needed to go after Al-Queda? Is this why he did not concentrate on terrorism until after 9/11 - he was waiting for further instructions? And does that imply that he believes that God wanted 9/11 to happen? After all, if God did not want al-Queda taken out until after 9/11, there must have been a reason, correct? And since God is, well, God, he must have known what al-Queda was planning? And if God wanted Bush to remove Saddam, then why didn't God tell, well, anyone else? Like the heads of all of the major Churches that came out against the war? Does God not like them? Are they bad conversationalists? Couldn't God fit them into his schedule?
And did God tell Bush to leave out the working poor form his expanded child tax credit? Did God tell Bush to underfund AmeriCorps and his own "no Child Left behind" Act? Is God telling Bush not to support a UN resolution calling for more troops in the Congo?
If I sound snide and contemptuous, it is because I am. If Bush intends to use his "personal relationship" with God to fashion public policy, I feel entitled to point out this his narrow, cramped and peculiar vision of God is not the God I was raised to believe in. If Bush wishes to use God's will as an excuse or an explanation, then I feel compelled to point out that the God I and millions like me believe in has given mankind the gift of free will, and that gift is at the heart of what it means to be a believer. If Bush wishes to use God as a justification, then I feel no compulsion about saying - loudly and often - that the God I and millions like believe in would not approve of some of the positions Bush wishes to justify.
If Bush wishes to highlight his version of Christianity, then I feel compelled to point out that his version of Christianity is not the only one.
Cheryl
He snorted cocaine ... He dodged the draft....His friends knew him as an alcoholic womanizer with a bad temper....a complete failure at business until his wealthy friends rescued him. Yet within a few short years he was elected Governor of Texas, and quickly catapulted into the White House in spite of losing the popular vote. Then he was re-elected with last minute help from Osama Bin Laden, in spite of high disapproval ratings. He still couldn't think his way out of a wet paper bag without the advice of his staff .....and yet he's been able to declare an endless war and institute some of the most radical changes in American history ....

Rev. Colin,
I again can only speak for myself in my replay to your comments. I for one do not say all republicans are radical Christians. I often say a small minority of republicans are radical or fake Christians.
I do believe that republicans like Bush,DeLay and Fisk are fake Christians. I see no other way to explain people that "PRAISE THE LORD" then pass the money to rich Americans and industry. To pay for this very Un-Christian like way they are cutting money from almost every program that help the needy, sick and poor Americans to pay for the Huge tax cuts for the rich and industry. Even if I put the tax cuts to the rich aside these same people also underfund their own programs like " No Child left behind" or underfund programs and now want to charge American Vets money for health care.
These same kind of fake Christian leaders don't protect our borders then have the nerve to call everyday Americans that have formed together to better protect our borders "VIGILANTES". These same kind of fake leaders brag about creating 2.5 million jobs but don't tell the American people that as many as 1 million of those jobs are filled by aliens. Thus bringing the pay scale down and the American workers standard of living lower.
These are the kind of people that tell the American people that God is on their side.
These are the kind of FAKE Christians I call false prophets.
You say God Bless Bush. I say God Bless America and my God protect America from what people like Bush,Tom DeLay and Bill Fisk is trying to do to America and the vast majority of her people.
BTW Rev.Colin I am not lonely but I am very troubled about what I see happening to America. Nothing more or nothing less I have no other motives.
I started this post showing poll results about what looks like the majority of Americans are thinking of the job Bush is doing not about what God thinks. I hope we can both doing a better job of staying on issue the next time around.LOL

Did you notice Libra63,Linda_K and Bear are not as busy posting as they once were. They just can't defend their choice of leaders any longer. They still try in feeble attempts like their replies to your Vets health care post. The 3 hypocrites were made to look like fools by you and other people. The truth is Bush sent our fine young American Troops both men and women to Iraq under equipped.
I also noticed not one of them could say anything about the poll results I posted. They just can't defend their failed leaders any longer. I don't care if its a straw poll or scientific poll they are all saying the same thing.
The newest BULL ROAR from Bush is he says all is well with our Military while one of his top Generals said just the opposite.

DEAN'S DEBACLE
Democratic National Committee (DNC) fund raising under the chairmanship of Howard Dean shows a disappointing $16.7 million raised in the first quarter of 2005, compared with $34 million reported by the Republicans.
That tends to confirm dire predictions by old-line Democratic fund-raisers of a fall-off in money if Dean became chairman. He had promised to bring in heavy individual contributions, as he did in his 2004 campaign for president. But the DNC in the first quarter received only $13 million from individuals, compared to $31 million for the Republican National Committee (RNC).
A footnote: A recent DNC fund-raising appeal promised to send field workers to North Carolina, which does not have a major statewide election until 2008.

Linda_K, I would love to see positive news but where is it. What you Bush supporters don't tell the American people is out of the 2.5 million jobs created in 2004. As many as 1 million of those jobs were filled by aliens mostly Mexican and mostly illegal. Now I am wondering how many of the supposed 276,000 new jobs were filled by aliens and at what pay scale?
Yes Linda_K says.
Give me your tired, your weary, your huddled masses...so we can put them to work at substandard wages that take jobs from Americans and lower the American pay scale.
Too bad Linda_K your lies and twisted words aren't working any longer. The majority of the American people are now seeing through them.

Bigpeepa what you quoted was a part of the Statue of Liberty given to the US from France about immigration.
So now you begrudge the immigrants coming to
America?
Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed, to me:
I lift my lamp beside the golden door.
Did you forget what America was all about? Freedom. This statute was give to us from France so that it be a welcome to immigrants from different countries in a show of freedom.
Would you pick fruit, for less than minimum wage? Would you help the farmers who almost can't make a living wage without them, and by the way it has been going that way for many years before the Bush administration. Would you begrudge the immigrants from coming to America? This is what America was built on, not the greedy person that drives around the country side selling antiques for 3x the money to republicans.
Now I personally don't like the illegal aliens but if they help contribute to someone that needs help I will not begrudge that.
[I]Millionaires and billionaires don't worry about needing a job to make political contributions{/I] from both parties. I seem to remember that Heinz Kerry is worths millions.
The environment was been going down hill for years. We the American people are at fault with that. Throwing paper out our car windows, smoking cigarettes and throwing the butts everywhere but in an ashtray. Taking a leak in the rivers. Throwing trash in the rivers. This list goes on and on and it didn't start overnight.
People starting forest fires destroying homes. Now tell me how the Bush administration is at fault for that.
Unemployment has always been around 5% and tell me how Bush is at fault for that. Nafta was signed during the Clinton Administration, and pardon me for mentioning him but he is at fault also. Put the blame where it is on the American People.
This is my one and only contributation to this thread and is my opinion and mine only.
But after these new jobs, the employment rate remains at 5.2 and the stock market is unchanged. The number of jobs required to turn around the less than desirable labor market during the entire Bush administration has been grossly understated. Bush is the president of the "gloom and doom club".
