I just spent the past hour revising sales that had no bids, and adding to the description that DO have bids. AND, I emailed every winning bidder that has not confirmed yet...."I NO LONGER ACCEPT PAYMENTS VIA PAYPAL. CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS ONLY. DO NOT SEND PAYMENT TO PAYPAL BECAUSE THE ACCOUNT WILL BE CLOSED."

Now, how do I close the account? I just pulled all the funds in there to be sent to my bank. Anyone have a link handy to DE-register? I cant find it.

edited to say Im not yelling. Just accenting

Damon - is your first post the one addressing the issue which you've been promising since this morning? I keep running into it on every thread on every board.

My first thought on reading it was "Jeez, it took him, or Paypal, or both twelve hours to cut and paste?"

Then I realized: It took you-all twelve hours to find where you buried the "business account" phrase.

Well, no wonder it took that long.

Does it strike you as at all unusual that the overwhelming majority of people posting here claim NEVER to have seen that phrase in that message, and utter surprise at the change in terms (which, I know, you maintain is no change at all)? That even the very few who say they don't care about the new (or not-new) requirement never mentioned this message in ANY of their posts? Interesting, isn't it, that virtually NOBODY recalled it - even your supporters?

What does this say about Paypal's communication skills? About its desire to clearly spell out critical policy changes such as this and notify its customers of those changes?

Seems to be all of a piece with the "verification" campaign, which initially was tacked onto a "Win $10K" sweepstakes program.

Seems to also be all of a piece with Paypal's remarkable inability to email its customers BEFORE August 1 regarding significant TOS changes, which the vast majority of us found out about on message boards or through the grapevine or bingo! when we found something - odd about the Paypal site.

And with Paypal's repeated assurances, using you as its "channel", regarding how absolutely sure it was that its oversized logos had been "OK'd" by ebay.

And with Paypal's "whoops! Didn't we tell you about the bank account default on the payment options question? Well, it was THERE for you to see if you'd only READ."

On the verification issue we DID "only read" and were repeatedly told that what we READ was not what Paypal MEANT (which, in one positively frameable message to me, you noted was "open to interpretation" - too true!)

One might believe that Paypal wasn't too anxious to communicate these changes to its customers.

But I am SUCH a cynic...

Everyone,

This discussion should be taking place in the Partner Services Forum, so I'm locking this thread.

We understand that this topic is one of tremendous interest and passionate opinions. However, we are trying to avoid having it completely dominate this forum.

So, once more with feeling: If you wish to discuss PayPal, please do so in the Partner Services Forum, or in the one active thread in the eBay Outlook.
