dpent sez:

"never again as mentioned by us before, if you dont accept my funds in the manor that I want to pay you only hurt yourself you sure as heck aint gonna hurt me as we will just buy it from your competitors whose kazillion auctions are not selling right now anyway and you can bet your bottom dollar that as buyes we are not the only ones that feel this way it is a convience issue my convience not yours my money not yours"

MY AUCTION, NOT YOURS. MY TERMS, NOT YOURS.

Besides, don't give me that crap about bidding on competitor's kazillion auctions which aren't selling right now. They don't have what you want anyway, right?

for the person that said they would pass up sellers who did not take paypal. I have a question and this is serious... Would you sign up for another free service like Yahoo that offers the same convenience at no cost to seller.

AFter all the seller can then avoid raising minimum bids or handling fees on packaging materials (so as not to take loss in two areas... )

this is serious question because I have signed up for other services before and If I know the bidders will use it I will sign up for the free one.

I have a feeling, despite what I said before, that PayPal is going to pull this off. After visiting the Ebay boards I think there's just enough PayPal cheerleaders out there and other sheep (who just bite the bullet and upgrade) to keep them going.

That's why internet companies feel they can get away with anything they wish. WE LET THEM!

Someone on this thread spoke of "presure form sellers" to sign up. We signed up to retrieve money from a buyer who never asked before they sent it. I don't care how a buyer pays as long as it doesn't cost us money, therefore, we will be using *several* other online payment services besides PayPaul.

Dpent - I'm just curious. If buyers had to pay the same fees as Paypal is asking sellers to pay, would you continue to use their services?

Cause I know about six months from now, someone at PayPal is gonna say, "well, we got these buyers using our services, and they ain't payin' us a dime".

Credit card users cannot charge buyers for using a credit card there is all sorts of rules Federal and State, not to mention the Credit card companies them selves

Buyers will never have to pay, it is always the sellers, that is the way it has always been, even for brick and mortor stores - and if my favorite local store quit taking credit cards the one right next door, with the older gentelman greeting me as I come in will not only say hi, but bend over backwards to take me payment choice key words here is my payment choice same thing with sellers here, if you dont like my payment choice, there is no problem from this end, honest! that is your choice as a business person and I resepct that - but I also have choices and the choice we make is not to take quite a bit of my day up running to get a money order I would venture a guess that most of you sellers are common sense - hard working people and that you can see my side -even if you dont agree - you can see my side of the fence and understand that you are closing a door that i would like to walk through ( Christmas is coming )and the thing that i see, is there is 2.7 million of us registered with Paypal ( according to Paypal ) and maybe 60,000 are sellers, that means 2.69 millon buyers.

If I was you why not go and look at the last 20-30 auctions that you were paid by Paypal,
and check how many of those buyers have ever sold anything on Ebay or maybe 1 or 2 items ever!! I think you will find it a rather vast number of these buyers are just that buyers

good luck in your decisions it cant be easy

Sure I would, already signed up for Billpoiny, problem is no one hardly offers those options or the problem is that they also accept Paypal

why is that a problem ?

simple I do not have current funds in those accounts, unless i add charges to a credit card that would be downright foolish of me,
as I do have ample funds in my Paypal account you have to ask yourself why a buyer would want to add additional charges to a credit card, that needs to be paid in 30 -45 days, when that same buyer has funds already in her - his account to me it is like "free" money even though in my heart of hearts I know it is not and with Christmas coming up, the Paypal funds get used first does that sound unreasonable to you?

I've read your comments on this thread with amusement. I live in Canada & can't offer PayPal to my customers. Up until 2 weeks ago I couldn't offer Billpoint either. [I can now]

I can assure you that accepting checks,MO's, and/or cash has never affected my auctions.
Even in the slow months of the summer when many sellers were on these boards complaining , my auctions have done very well.

Then again, I doubt you'll find a kazillion other items on ebay, like the ones I sell.

Now that I offer Billpoint, for the most part my high bidders are still wanting to send a check or MO. Approx 20% have been using Billpoint to pay.

I would imagine that those same buyers that used Billpoint, would have bid, and paid, with a check or MO if the CC option wasn't on my auctions.

I've sold approx 500 items on eBay since PayPal started up & have only had 2 customers ask if they could pay via that service.

Big deal.

Sorry but, please use a period every once in a while. Form sentences. Makes it easier to read.

I have no problem with you spending your Paypal money with sellers who will continue to use Paypal. Free country.

All along I have accepted CCNow at 9% (in addition to Amazon 1-Click, which is about the same as PayPal will be). I have never minded paying CCNow, but they never promised to remain free forever.

I hate the lack of respect these companies (including PayPal, eBay, Andale, Amazon and others) show us. They will say one thing one day, and something else the next, and we are just supposed to accept it. The companies that respect me and treat me like a rational adult human being -- those will be the ones who will keep my business even if it costs me a little more.

Feistyone-

I don't appreciate being called a sheep-

I signed up for a regular PayPal account after a whole lot of study and consideration.

I "upgraded" to a business account after several weeks of study and consideration.

I didn't do either because someone told me to, or because a dog forced me in that direction. I did so because I determined that it would be better for me. It has increased my profits and it has decreased my "hassles" as a "small timer" who makes his entire living on the internet.

If you had been paying attention- I was one ot the major people questioning PayPal's business model here on the AW boards several months ago. It would be pretty hypocritical of me to condemn them for doing just what I said they would have to do to survive as a viable business entity.
