ok, just an explanation first. I was searching ebay for the going price of an item I want to list. It's a Fisher Price "Katy Cackler" vintage pull toy. I nearly doubled over after I read this listing. I'm a fairly new seller so I've been reading listings and trying to learn by what I've seen. This one caught me quite off guard and you'll soon understand why. I think this has got to be the most vreative ad for a Fisher Price toy or any other toy for that matter. Btw, I do have the originator's permission to post it here. So here goes, enjoy:
"The Cackling Hen; Pull-Toy: Fisher Price
The Cackling Hen. Fisher Price #120. This is not dated, but I think it is pre-1963. if I am wrong, please forgivre my ignorance! This one is in pretty good condition. ...just the other day, I was pulling it aroung the kitchen, and then set it up on the counter, in a basket. When I went back in, Granny was settin REAL still like, a rifle over her lap, and a basket on her arm; one eye on the chicken; the other'n on the door. (You would think that to be an easy task, unless you knew the door was around the CORNER! I don't know how she managed to get her face so tangled and twisted???) I asked her what in the SAM-HILL she was doing. She said; "I'm sittin' here watching to see which comes first, the egg or the fox! " I had to chuckle at the sight of her, waiting for a toy chicken to lay an egg...I asked if she was serious? She replied; " Chile, has a chicken got lips?". Ya'll excuse me. I gotta go examine that chicken! Shipping is the USPS "UP-TO-THE 3 pound-rate" of 4.30 . There is never a handling charge. Will GLADLY ship multiple auctions together to save on postage...after all, we gotta buy GAS!!! ~~**Sorry~USA sales only~ at this time.**~~ BUYER to pay shipping (and insurance, if desired.) Payment Options: PAYPAL; money order or...depending on feedback..[ YOURS, silly!]- 'I-hold-it-till-it-clears-personal checks'. Please note- I am NOT a stickler for 'The Money MUST be here within ' so many days or else...' I do understand delays!! BUT...EMAIL me if there is one..(. I'm a pretty understanding ole gal!! )I try to remember to give shipping prices, but if I forget...just flog me with a feather (pleeease take it OFF the rooster first!) . WAIT!! You got REALLY BAD Feed back?? Then DON'T bid here!! Got troubles enough: 7 of my 5 young'ins is had the backkards throw-ups fer a month now...!! HA!! *** "Once I thought I had nothing to offer; then I spoke a kind word. The SMILE I was given in return, was enough proof that I was wrong.">>> Try it! Thank you for looking! Dani
The actual chicken is not fuzzy...Granny sez my pictures just suck!"
and this isn't the half of it. A half an hour after I sent e-mail to ask if I might post it here, I got this in my inbox:
"Lawd, Mr Eric;

I don't know about the rest of you (if you made it all the way through) but I'm convinced this seller could sell ice to an eskimo, LOL.
Now I'm going to see if all this seller's listings are likewise. I like it.

Check out some of the feedback she's left people. What a great character!
All of her auctions have similar wording. Should make for some great reading for me later on.

I THINK this is the gal who had a long running series about her son and his girlfriend (who turned out to be a guy, but the son, who was a bit on the "naive" side, didn't realize was a guy). The story ran through a whole series of her auctions, which certainly had the benefit of getting people to look at everything she was listing.

Hi Glenda. I remember the seller that you are talking about and she is a different one. She has now moved her stories to a web page that you can reach from her auctions. It is always fun to see the talents of some of the sellers and lots of them make me smile.
