OK You must be right, You have a big mouth so you must have some other skills and abilities. )

Is that your attempt at some kind of humor? wasn't even close to being funny.

Why because you are not laughing? Must be true then. LOL =)) LOL =))

Absolute faith has been shown, consistently, to breed intolerance. And intolerance, history teaches us, again and again, begets violence.

President George Bush: "Our people are going to find out the truth, and the truth will say that this intelligence was good intelligence. There's no doubt in my mind."

Bush was right. The truth did come out and the facts are he misled Congress and the American people about the reasons we should go to war in Iraq.

Three of the main reasons G.M. says for this cut back is foreign companies, high health insurance cost and high fuel cost.

These are problems our government has known about for years. What have our government done about it next to nothing.

What do you want the government to do? I mean specifically, what should the government have done?

As badly as the governemnt runs that which it is involved in, do you really want them in control of your health care and fuel supplies?

We all need to remember all a working man or woman has to sell is their work years.

Don't take this wrong Peepa, but if that attitude is adopted by all americans, the future will be exactly as bleak as you like to cast it as. They have their mind, their creativity, their ingenuity and all of those things are limitless. It's only when you box them in by telling them that they are only as good as they are labor enabled that they are limited.

ONLY THE RICH ARE DOING MUCH BETTER. THE REST OF US ARE HOLDING ON BY OUR FINGER TIPS OR GOING BACKWARDS.

Just out of curiosity, what is it that you feel is keeping you from being rich? And what is your definition of rich?

Classic - you do know I am not a fellow conservative don't you? I'd like to hear different ideas. There have to be some. Even if it's not viable, someone has to have an idea. Come on even conservatives have to admit that healthcare cost are out of control... how do we bring them back to reality? You can't blame it all on the lawyers (afterall, they are not heones that actually decide the award amounts). Should healthcare costs be regulated?

If you regulate the health care field then you are regulating the salaries of health care workers. People should be paid what they are worth not what regulating health care will do. Physicians that pay very high malpractice insurance will quit. Some malpractice insurance is $200,000.00 a year and it is not because they have been sued it is the assumption that if they are sued. They will leave the practice.

Health care workers were some of the most underpaid workers in the US. Our salaries did not compare to the factories and our hours were not just 9 - 5. If an emergency occurred I could not punch out and leave we stayed until the emergency was over. Union workers worked their 8 hour shift then punched out. Health care workers are finally getting the recognition they deserve in both pay and vacation time.

I'm glad health care workers are finally improving their wages and vacation time.

Since you're in that field..how did they accomplish that? ?

Crow - they stopped going into that field. Payrates increased and signing bonuses went thru the roof because there were not as many workers as there were jobs to be filled. The hospitals had to start competing for workers in a number of areas.

The Alaskan Airlines baggage handlers union is a great example of how unions CAUSE their workers to lose their jobs.

I mean, come on, what actual skills are needed, besides physical strength, to handle baggage? Almost none.

But the union wouldn't negotiate with the airlines so they turned to out-side non-union workers. Then ALL benefit.

Workers still have jobs...fliers enjoy lower costs to fly....airlines are able to keep costs down...and life goes on.

And the unions helped HOW????

...all the baggage handlers lost their jobs - got laid off - and now they're going to have to go work for less wages.  Thought this was exactly what unions are supposed to prevent.

So who made out good on this deal?

....the union bosses still have their jobs. Who got screwed by unions?  The workers.  Every time.

Unions have a fraction of the power they had in the old days for the same reason Reagan easily crushed the Air Traffic controllers...no public support.

John Q Public is out there working. He sees the announcement that the UAW will strike. How many people do you think say "to the barricades men" so that somebody making $80k a year in salary and benefits can make $85k a year and free college tuition for putting right side door mirrors on?

The clout of a union is dependent on the degree the public supports them. Most unions have no public support.

I've worked several Union jobs over the year. I can tell you we all owe the unions a debt of gratitude for Safety in the work place and fair wages. Unfortunately many union went bad, greed, power plays, the mobs all raped the unions and what they were all about.

There will be a new insurgency of Union within the next few years. I'm hoping they proceed with a win/win ideal.

Amen,
Reverend Colin
