rca001, and after reading shelly's history of her daughter in her third post, you think I'm off base in suggesting a visit to another therapist?

Gee, HCQ, I didn't see the words "visit" or "therapist" anywhere in your post. The first part was a bunch of opinionated statements, then a patronizing paragraph, and then a vague suggestion that she get some help.
Now feel free to get the last word, I won't be back today.

Calamity Yes kind of, I think that she sees for one of the first times in her life, she HAS done something, and then has to move on to the next stage, so yes, it could be scary to go to that next part.

HCQ I believe therapy can be good. And there can be good ones and not so good ones, same with pychiatrists. She actually went to 2 pych. firt saying she's ok , the second spending a total 1/2 hr and dx'ing ADHD, and giving the Ritalin..... like I said before, I DO believe their are kids with ADD and ADHD, I just know my daughter too well, no I am not a dr, but I do think they 'over dx' kids with this, and that they give Ritalin out way too much. You do know that Ritalin is a street drug now, and thats the effect it had on Elizabeth, she LIKED it on the first dosage. When I say I 'know my daughter' I am not in a postition to dx her with any disorder, BUT I believe I know what caused a lot of this, she came to expect everything...she came to expect the best clothes...she came to expect that I would come get her at school at her whim. Only because years before, I started, I guess overprotecting her, because she was little when her dad left, and was the most upset with it.

I do believe therapy is good, but too much therapy can be not so good. Yes I do think she has a lot of issues, I think we all have 'issues'. She had had so much therapy, that the therapist was suggesting something like boot camp. And thats when I did find Job Corps, and I still think its the best thing.

I think what she is doing now, is reverting back to what she used to do....and I am saying no. And she does not like that one bit, in about 6 calls from her yesterday, she hung up on me a couple of the times, because I told her she had to stay there.
I was finally REALLY saying no to her, and she finally realized I was NOT going up there and getting her. Of course she got mad, but today? She called, saw the dr, and does seem better, I don't know if the dr found anything else, I need to talk to him,
but she lived thru the night, without coming home and didn't suffer terribly which I think is a good thing.

Shelly,
Unless you want to be doing her laundry when you're 55 years old, you've got to draw a line.

krs, nope I don't plan or rather don't do either one of their laundry now, and I plan on doing what *I* want to do

(of course until the next crisis comes up! lol!)

AND I won't do babysitting either if/when they have kids, because I'm going to be too young to be a grandma! LOL!
