lol classic! I know! What kind of anti-american commie bit* can not like baseball? Oh wait we are talking about crowfart here!

There was quote not to long ago in the newspaper that said something to the effect: If you want to know anything about America, Americans, or American Business (paraphrasing here) - watch the game of baseball and learn something!

Libra63, it was just my 'opinion' written in my usual calm and cool manner, certainly not an 'attack' as you so wrongly interpret it. But then you used to see 'hate' in some things I posted here until I told you I felt no hate for anyone or anything (then you suddenly started posting about how you felt no hate).

BTW, I wasn't the one that came in here to attack posters and surmise their inner feelings or where they live and make it personal.

Nowhere on Vendio does it say that a person residing in more than one country or even one country other than the US cannot have an 'opinion' and post it here.

Truly, I think that some of you cannot understand what an 'opinion' is....... it's not like I'm trying to shove it down your throat and make you believe it like it's total fact now. It was just my 'opinion'.

Sheesh!

Crowfarm and Kraft....... thanks! Nice to see that there are still some left here who recognize that an opinion is just an opinion.

Opinions are like ---holes.......... everyone's got one!

Definately NOT the same Sesame Street characters MY sons watched in the late 60's, early 70's.

-------------

from TimesWatch.org -

The Republicans' "Ideological Putsch" Against PBS

The Times' pro-PBS crusade continues in a Wednesday editorial accusing "spiteful" Republicans of (as the headline reads) "Squelching Public Broadcasting."

"Do little boys and girls out there know how to spell 'spite'? For those who don't, the House Republicans who voted last week to gut federal support of public broadcasting -- from 'Sesame Street' to well beyond -- are offering a graphic demonstration as they attack one of the nation's more valued institutions."

     Reality Check:

As Times reporter Stephen Labaton admits deep inside a pro-PBS article June 10, "Gary E. Knell, the president of Sesame Workshop…said the Ready to Learn program had contributed relatively modest amounts to the workshop and that most of the money for those shows comes from license revenue for the products sold by the workshop and money from stations."

Then there's this laugh line about the "proven indispensability of public broadcasting" in a world of several hundred cable channels, the Internet, and talk radio: "A decade ago, Newt Gingrich tried a similar stratagem to 'zero out' public broadcasting as Republicans claimed there was liberal bias in programming. The attempt failed in the face of cooler legislative heads and the proven indispensability of public broadcasting."

After admitting that federal money makes up a mere 15 percent of public broadcasting's budget, the editors warn "the public's faith and donations could be threatened if audiences sense the Republicans are succeeding with an ideological putsch."

The use of the ideologically weighted term "putsch" (as in Hitler's 1923 Munich Beer Hall Putsch) shows how the very idea of cutting PBS spending reliably sends the Times editorial page into ideological frenzy.

It ends with another dose of "spite," warning that remote areas like Alaska may "fade from the air unless the Senate blocks the House's spiteful cuts."

Libra, it was a very flattering, complimentary, patriotic, positive-spun opinion of the USA and its bright future -- dont you think???

btw, I dont know what you dont understand about opinions on this board to deserve & rank such a lecture on what they are, but I guess you missed the whole complimentary note of it the post too! But I am glad you have some sensibility about arts and education, otherwise one might think you a bit paranoid. lol!!!

dbl. I think there is a double standard in here. We can't discuss Canadian Health Care but US school system can be discussed and then tell us what to eliminate. Probably someone who has no children in the school system.

Now let us take Cheerleading. She thinks that should be eliminated because of Cost. Well, they cost the school system pretty close to 0 dollars. They do all their own fund raising to pay for their uniforms and accessories. They receive no money from the school system. The only thing the cheerleaders have to do is keep their grades above C.

But she thinks Art shouldn't be eliminated. Well our school district still has art and they haven't even talked about eliminating it.

Now of course Sports should be eliminated. Sure that totally makes sense. Why do the students need competitive sports. What about the debate team should we eliminate that also.

She sure is old enough to have her head stuffed in the sixites but still watching the teenie bopper's MTV, so, I doubt she's ever made a passage to maturity though.

ooouu lets get paranoid!!!!

Heres A well-informed Opinion: The government is cutting the arts to stifle creativity in this country!! oooooo!! Shiver me timbers!! Like as if splattering paint and color by numbers classes ever did or didnt do anything for somebody with any creativity to begin with.

Looks like my 'opinion' is so core shattering to some old ninnies that they need to constantly 'paraphrase' it and twist it..... and now some do it in italics...... and now this week in italics AND bold........ as if to show others my exact words, like they assume everyone here is dumb.

Makes me smile when I see this reaction.... only shows me how insecure some can get after reading a mere 'opinion' on a friggin' chat board.

yeah kiara your opinion is so earth shattering!
More like friggin hilarious and out of touch with reality!!

Lets see it again its so very well informed and ground in reality!

"Taking art classes out of schools so all creativity and expression is stifled at an early age".

There! - Is that twisted enough for ya? Oh yea, the real 'clue' why they're cutting art classes finally revealed right here on Vendio's Round Table by Ms Marbles Malinformed! hahaahah! good one!! Only problem for you, is you were serious.

If PBS and NPR want to push their liberal agenda""

The conservatives want to get rid of Sesame Street, Barney, Sponge Bob and Thomas the Tank. What will the children watch then? Will it be replaced the RBN? The Republican Broadcast Network pushing religion, anti-abortion, the pro-Bush agenda 24/7?

Absolute faith has been shown, consistently, to breed intolerance. And intolerance, history teaches us, again and again, begets violence.

Bush was right. The truth did come out and the facts are he misled Congress and the American people about the reasons we should go to war in Iraq.

Show me ONE place where anyone said anything about 'getting rid of' .....it didn't happen, logan.

Getting rid of ..as in cutting funding gets rid of programs because there isn't enough money to broadcast them.

And no, classic, it is never frustrating to win an argument and prove my point.

I think there's frustration on the right because they just can't find

example of bias on public TV.

I have to admit I have never seen it either-however I dont watch it that much.
The only programs that I catch is if they have something to do with music which is usually on Sunday nights-hardly biased lol.I also didnt know public broadcasting was supported by the government.I thought they were making their money by hawking the cds and dvds I see them advertise and donations people send in.If they are having trouble getting money from the government, why dont they have sponsers just like any other station? Im not sure what the difference is if your selling the dvds/cds
or GM cars.
