It's not always the 'poor seniors' who don't tip and take the sugar cubes. I know lots of waitresses and restaurant owners and it's usually the seniors with lots of money that are the cheapos taking the sugar cubes and jam paks.

Those who ever live in a few communities that have high senior populations can learn a lot if you deal with them long enough. The ones with the most money are usually the first with their hand out when a store puts on a promotion with any freebie but never shop in the store. Or how about the ones that drive up in a huge gas-sucking motorhome and ask to use the bathroom in the shop and then steal the toilet tissue and soap and anything else that's not nailed down.

Or the ones that travel and have someone else babysitting their homes and plants and sometimes their pets and they drop in and buy some cheapie gift for that person that cared and protected their valuables and they spend under 10 bucks and ask that the store owner put a phony higher priced sticker on it and leave it on and giftwrap it special.

My experience is that some of the seniors who still work the hardest and have the most humble lifestyles also go out of their way to treat others the kindest way they can and the waitresses say that they do tip fairly.

These same seniors have also been some of my very best customers and they are the ones that have always surprised me with gifts of beautiful floral displays, home made bread and goodies, etc at Christmas time. They also do the most volunteer work in the community.

People who go into the restaurant server line of work have to consider those people as part of their overhead, taking the bad along with the good like any job.

Profe, that is very true. And sometimes other people more than compensate for those that you get "stiffed by" as well
