I saw the notice in july or so about listing fees for the big catagories were increasing but i must have just zoned out over the fvf going up. When did they raise these fees.
I was using the handy feedback viewing page posted here a few weeks ago and saw the box to calculate fvf fees. I noticed it stated that sales between $25-$1000 (i believe thats correct) is not $1.25 PLUS 2.5%....WOW
most of my sales are under $100 but over $25..I sure thought all i had to pay was 2.5% on those sales but WOW add the buck and a quarter on top of that....Holy ream job Batman!!!
OK when did it happen? How long have i been mis-calculating my fvf......Time to wake up and pay attention i guess.....

I went and checked the fees and your right about that. The fees have doubled! They went from 2.5 to 5. That is 50 cents on 9.99 sale.
I don't know when this went into effect either but it sure did!

Unless I just fell off a turnip truck, they have always been the same, 5% up to $25 (which comes out to $1.25) and 2.5% on the remaining balance...Its always been like that.

I have sold on eBay for over 2 years. The Final value fees have not changed AT ALL in those two years. The rates you see on that link are exactly the same as they have been for at least 2 years. The only fees that have changed are the "special features" like bold, featured auctions etc... (and eBay announced the new rates/features on the Announcement Board well before they implemented the change) The other change in the last two years was the "reserve fee" change, which caused much uproar.
I guess starting a thread with "WOW FVF increase..guess i was sleeping" is the way rumors get started and the eBay bashing begins.

Well they have changed for me. I went to My Ebay and veiwed my account. In the past for a 9.99 sale I was charged 25 cents. Now for the same sale a week ago, it was 50 cents.
I don't understand it, but that is the way it is on mine.
I'll go check again, maybe I am just missing something....it wouldn't be the first time!

They haven't changed. I was charged 50 cents for a 10.00 sell in June of 1999 and it's still the same today.

Well, that's what happens when you don't read the complete thread. There are the FVF's:
Closing Value Final Value Fee
$0 - $25 5.0% of the closing value
$25 - $1,000 5.0% of the initial $25 ($1.25),
plus 2.5% of the remaining closing value balance.
Over $1,000 5.0% of the initial $25 ($1.25),
plus 2.5% of the initial $25-$1000 ($24.38),
plus 1.25% of the remaining closing value balance.

I have been selling on ebay for over 3 years and maybe i just haven't understood how they charge the final fees. I was under the impression(possibly a wrong impression) that anything under 25 bucks was 5% fvf
and when you broke the $25 mark the fees dropped to 2.5%.
It seems i may have not understood because i did not realize that ebay was charging a 2 tier'd fvf. EXAMPLE items sells for $50
i thought the fvf was 2.5% of $50
now from reading the posts it seems the correct fvf of the $50 sale is 5% of $25 and 2.5 % of $25.........Is this correct and has it always been that way...If so i am amazed i missed it for over 3 years....boy do i feel like a dim bulb......

We simply pointed out to you that you are WRONG and your assumption that eBay is to fault (I quote you) "Holy ream job Batman!!! " Is also wrong.
The final value fee has not changed and perhaps for three years you have misread and miscalculated the final value fees. Certainly wasn't eBay's fault and they didn't "surprise" add to the FVF.
If you read the eBay seller's guide to fees, you will see it spelled out clearly..
Then here's how you calculate your Final Value Fee
Take the first $25 of your final value, and calculate 5% of that. If your item sold for $25 or less, this is your Final Value Fee.
If your final value was more than $25, take the additional amount, from $25.01 to $1,000, and calculate 2.5% of that.
If your final value was more than $1,000, take that additional amount and calculate 1.25% of the remaining amount.
Add these amounts together and you have your Final Value Fee!
Like I said, it has never changed and I stand by my comment that the title of your thread was meant to point the blame/finger at eBay.

igolf.you are certainly alowed to have an opinion on why a poster puts a certain header on his post but in this case you are incorrect in you assumption that it was to stoke the flames against ebay. If that were so why would i make a direct indicstion that i may hve been at fault by saying i may have been sleeping......answer that one smart guy........ not everyone hates ebay, if fact i love the service they provide....listing and fvf are the ONLY cost i have as EVERY item i sell was/is obtained by myself free of charge, i have no initial costs...the reason for the post was to pull me out of the fog i was in if in fact i was in one...which it seems i was.....you seem to be a very rude and arrogant person, but thats just my opinion.....

Sure! At $10.00 to $25.00, it's always been 5%.
But, from $0.01 to $9.99 it used to be 2.5%. I wasn't aware that this had changed at all.
I wonder why eBay insists on sticking it to low-dollar ticket Sellers?

I've been selling for a couple of years now and have sold many items for $9.99 and under and have always been charged 5% for my FVF.

Yep, FVF on items under $25 have always been 5%. I just pulled my whole account up, and checked the FVF on an auction from May 1999 that ended for $6. The FVF was .30 cents, which is 5%.
It is a tiered fee schedule, which can be confusing if you don't really take the time to figure it out. It's almost as confusing as dutch auctions.

Borillar - it's always been 5% from .01 up to $25... maybe you're thinking of the 25 cent listing fee for .01-9.99?

And just to say what everyone else has already.....Neither the listing fees nor the final value fees have changed - they are exactly the way they have been for years -
as stated before.....The ONLY changes to fees have been the just a dollar reserve auction fee (50 cents and $1. depending on reserve price) and the new special feature fees. That is it folks - Rosalinda

It is also my perception that FVF have not increased. Have been selling occasionally since July 1998.
Edited and backing away very slowly and carefully in order to not get my head chewed off of my shoulders...
