GOOD NEWS!!! Only six days after their failed attempt to commit more massive murder of innocents.......

London Suspect Nabbed

British police Wednesday arrested one of the four alleged terrorists who botched an attack on London's transit system on July 21, British news outlets reported. Sky News - a sister news organization to FOX News - identified the suspect as being Yasin Hassan Omar.

Officers with Scotland Yard staged an early morning raid in Birmingham, arresting Omar and three other men.

I think the British police were able to track down these people by using their library and medical records.

Maybe he should have the British police search for Osama. They seem to be good at capturing terrorists.

HMMM, I wonder if Osama has a library card

I find that to be very hypocritical of you.

Matter-of-fact....in the next 12 months....reports tell us British troops will slowly be withdrawn from Iraq and sent to Afghanistan.

You going to answer how gender changes are so different in your mind when it applies to someone you don't like? Tell us all how this would be any different to you in Ann's case.

Sources: July 7 London Bomb Plot May Have Been Much Larger

London Investigators Find 16 Unexploded Devices in Attacker's Trunk, Sources Say

LONDON, July 27, 2005 — The plot for the July 7 transit bombings in London, which killed 56 people, may have been much larger than previously known, ABC News has learned.

Sources familiar with the investigation tell ABC News an additional 12 bombs and four improvised detonators were found in the trunk of a car believed to be rented by suicide bomber Shehzad Tanweer. Police believe the bombers drove the car to Luton, where they boarded trains to London.

"I believe that the explosives left in that car were left there for a second strike," said Bob Ayers, a London-based terrorism consultant with expertise in demolition. "But the metropolitan police responded so quickly, they were able to get to the car and take control of the car before the second team could get the explosives and leave."

ABC News obtained exclusive photographs, which show the devastation left inside the London subway lines after the July 7 attacks.

"There is considerable damage there," said Ayers, who analyzed the photographs. "You can see it's blown out the walls, it's blown out the sides, it's blown the roof. That was a good size bomb that that man took down there and set off."

ABC News also obtained photographs, which offer a first glimpse of the bombs used in the attacks.

The bombs were made of homemade high explosives. The materials used are widely available products, such as peroxide. Some were packaged like pancakes, and others contained nails for use as shrapnel. An X-ray image of one of the bombs found in the attacker's car trunk shows the deadly concoction.

"When you put the X-ray machine on it [the bomb], you see what is bulging on the sides of the bottle are nails — many, many nails," said Ayers, while examining the photo. "And the nails are put there so that when the bomb goes off, the nails will tear tissue and kill people in the area. Bombs don't kill by concussion. Small bombs, they kill by the blast effects of fragments of glass or metal, and this is designed to kill people."

British authorities are deeply concerned they are in a race against time against people who want to plan another attack.

ABC News' Pierre Thomas filed this report for "World News Tonight."

Apparently all the lefties here fail to recognize the fact that ALL the terrorists ARE muslims. Not one Protestent, not one Catholic, not one Buddist, not one agnostic and not one Jew.

But ALL terrorists are Muslim's

Just where above, Bear, did you say "suicide bombers"? You generalized with "terrorists" and I responded to your generalization.

Therefore, there is no question here that I need to answer and no proof I need to provide. McVeigh was a terrorist and so were the Columbine shooters. Again, you said "But ALL terrorists are Muslim's. Not "All suicide bombers. . ."

Bear

The Viet Cong utilized sappers (demolition commandos) who would carry or wear satchel charges. These individuals would purposefully blow themselves up to destroy U.S. and Republic of Vietnam equipment and fortifications.

There. Suicide bombers. They were not Muslims.

Suicide bombings were also undertaken in Sri Lanka and India by the special commando "Black Tiger" units of the Tamil Tigers (LTTE). The Tamils are a unique group because they possess a hybrid of Western and Oriental traditions that "advocate a Tamil nationalism that is expressed by its leaders in religious terms referring to the cult of martyrs.

There. Another one. The main religion in India and Sri Lanka is buddhism and hinduism.

Then you have the Japanese. Japanese kamikaze pilots caused maximum damage by flying their aircraft into targets.

I hope that's all the information you need to prove you are wrong. All suicide bombers are NOT Muslim.

cheryl is one who will go on and on forever bashing what both the UK and the US and some other countries are doing to apprehend/stop the MODERN DAY MUSLIM TERRORISTS.

And as Ann Coulter said.....they're always on the enemies side. You can't win with them.....they'll dance all around it as cheryl has done above. She'd rather put all the focus on ONE accidental shooting....than on what the US, UK and others are trying to defeat.....the ANGRY MUSLIM TERRORISTS>

Thank heaven those who think like she does....are a very tiny radical minority.

"So show me a non muslim terrorist suicide bomber that has struck in the last 20 years that WASN'T a muslim..."

Making a statement like that is like asking you to give an example of a Japanese kamakaze pilot who really wasn't Japanese.

Consider this... Many in the International community and even within the US wonder how the US government can get away with murdering over 100,000 people and not be held accountable for the carnage. It is merely a matter of perspective. Bush can claim "freedom is on the march", but that doesn't change the fact that his agenda is being pushed upon others who do not want it. The irony of this of course, is the typical neocon reply, "if you don't like it, move..." Well, where the hell are Iraqi's supposed to move to? They are not in the States. Many don't want our culture, our religion, or our government. Many have lost family, friends, and loved ones at the hands of American bombs and bullets. American policy is being shoved down their throats by our extremist leaders and now you have other extremists willing to put their lives on the line to fight back. Linda will now come here and say I am defending terrorists, but that is simply not the case. It is merely understanding both sides of the story, something neocons never want to admit. They can easily understand the idea of an American Patriot, but they cannot understand or want to bother to comprehend that others within their own cultures, countries, and religions are viewed as the same for standing up against something they do not believe in.

You can make endless examples of Muslims using suicide bombings as a means of destruction, which they believe is an act of honor to protect their religion and culture... just like you can make endless examples of our government killing innocent Iraqi civilians to promote "Freedom".

So very well said, rusty! Neocons can't consider any perspective other than their own and that is why we are making no progress against terrorism.

From Juan Cole...
The Bush administration is giving up the phrase "global war on terror."

I take it this is because they have finally realized that if they are fighting a war on terror, the enemy is four guys in a gymn in Leeds. It isn't going to take very long for people to realize that a) you don't actually need to pay the Pentagon $400 billion a year if that is the problem and b) whoever is in charge of such a war isn't actually doing a very good job at stopping the bombs from going off.

And for Bear who thinks all terrorists are Muslim....

The terrorists don't have an ethnicity in common. Richard Reid and Lindsey Germaine were Caribbean. Others are Arabs. Some have been Somali or Eritrean or Tanzanian. Others have been South Asia (India/Pakistan/Bangladesh). Still others have been African-American or white Americans. They don't even have to start out Muslim. Ayman al-Zawahiri was particularly proud of an al-Qaeda operative in Afghanistan who had been an American Jew in a previous life. Ziad Jarrah, one of the September 11 hijackers, appears to have been a relatively secular young man right to the end. It isn't about religion, except insofar as religion is a basis on which the recruiter can approach his victim. Islam as a religion forbids terrorism. But then so does Christianity, and that doesn't stop there being Christian terrorists. They are a fringe in both religions.

If you try to "profile" the terrorist using such social markers as class or ethnicity, maybe even religious background, you will go badly astray.

That article by Juan Cole is pertinent to this discussion. The point that Rusty made about understanding the perspective of terrorists is crucial in a successful resolution of terrorism. Cole's article may help in understanding how the typical terrorist is recruited, why he is angry and how he is ultimately used to deliver bombs.

What some on the left don't GET, imo, is that we could withdraw from all muslim countries, quit fighting the war againsts these terrorists.....and they'd STILL want us all under their control. The people like rusty REFUSE to see/hear/read THEIR OWN WORDS/GOALS/PROMISES for our future. Nothing would be gained by 'leaving them alone' ....we'd just have more and more bombs murdering our people.

taken from humanrightsonline.com - today. Read THEIR own words rusty....and all who agree if only we'd go home, they'd be happy. That's NOT THEIR plan.
----

In nearly all cases, the jihadi terrorists have a patently self-evident ambition: to establish a world dominated by Muslims, Islam, and the Shari's; a (Islamic law). Or, again to cite the Daily Telegraph, their real project is the extension of the Islamic territory across the globe, and the establishment of a worldwide caliphate; founded on Shari; a law.

Terrorists openly declare this goal. The Islamists who assassinated Anwar el-Sadat in 1981 decorated their holding cages with banners proclaiming "The caliphate or death." A biography of Abdullah Azzam, one of the most influential Islamist thinkers of recent times and an influence on Osama bin Laden, declares that his life "revolved around a single goal, namely the establishment of Allah's Rule on earth" and restoring the caliphate.

Bin Laden himself spoke of ensuring that "the pious Caliphate will start from Afghanistan." His chief deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, also dreamed of re-establishing the caliphate, for then, he wrote, "history would make a new turn, God willing, in the opposite direction against the empire of the United States and the world's Jewish government."

Another Al-Qaeda leader, Fazlur Rehman Khalil, publishes a magazine that declares "[b]Due to the blessings of jihad, America's countdown has begun. It will declare defeat soon" to be followed by the creation of a caliphate.

Or, as Mohammed Bouyeri wrote in the note he attached to the corpse of Theo van Gogh, the Dutch filmmaker he had just assassinated, "Islam will be victorious through the blood of martyrs who spread its light in every dark corner of this earth."

Interestingly, Bouyeri was frustrated by the mistaken motives attributed to him, insisting at his trial: "I did what I did purely out of my beliefs. I want you to know that I acted out of conviction and not that I took his life because he was Dutch or because I was Moroccan and felt insulted."

Although terrorists state their jihadi motives loudly and clearly, Westerners and Muslims alike too often avert their eyes.

Islamic organizations, Canadian author Irshad Manji observes, pretend that "Islam is an innocent bystander in today's terrorism."

What the terrorists want is abundantly clear. It requires monumental denial not to acknowledge it, but we Westerners have risen to the challenge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And that is what stage some are in.....those like rusty, moumental denial.
Cheryl, you don't have to tell me of VC sappers. I saw it happen, I was there.
The VC weren't detonating explosives against civilians, but deliberately aimed agains US & S Viet troops. Not against random targets of opportunity.
So both of your examples are as invalid as is your arguement.
