BTW - The Fatty and Fathead stuff which I assume is supposed annoy, irritate, hurt, whatever really doesn't accomplish much. It's kind of like me Stretch when I am only 5' tall.

Helen - I was not suspended uner my old name and when I changed it, if you will remember I even put in the signature "formerly known as" for a week or so. I think that is a bit different than coming back under a new moniker when the old one is suspended and trying to deny true identity.

Mingo - what is it that you expect you hear? That we are shocked and appalled that a nation of people that rely upon their religious convictions and laws in their personal lives would incorporate them into their legal system as other islamic nations have done for centuries? I guess no one is expressing shock and awe because no one is surprised or neccessarily appalled. I don't think anyone expected much less.
Of course there are things that we who live in a more "westernized" society find disturbing but we are operating from a different point of reference than the people of Iraq. Of course we would like to see more rights for women and of course we would like to see less emphasis put on one religious sect than another but I don't think it's realistic to expect a complete renovation of an entire society just because we came to town. I'm glad that there are at least cracks in the door. There are some changes, some advancements and I think that's promising. It provides a foundation for growth and additional changes in the future.
If we consider Iraq to be a free and individual nation we have to allow it to act as such. We can attempt to influence them in certain areas but we cannot force those changes upon them. We can only hope that at the end of the day the people of Iraq will act in a manner will use the voice given to them to create a society that is positive for all.
