This is a Real Question Because I am not sure about the numbers. I was going thru the Bidbay Stores Catagory and came across some interesting numbers. There are numbers next to some of these Shop Owners, Example: Shop Owner's name (90): Now some of these numbers are real big numbers some are small..Is the number next to the Shop owner the number of items they have for sale in their shop?

auctiongallery2, if this is the case you should go take a look at some of these numbers and tell me if I am seeing things because it just can not be right...after seeing these numbers and clicking onto their shops these numbers are Wrong....

Well you must remember BidBay counts items listed.

I just clicked on one link to a seller who has the number 60,003 next to his id.

Well when you click on his world shop...he has 3 auctions with 20,000 items each running and then just one other with 3 items.

Wow...one other user ID accounts for over 500,000 listings alone.

That is my point one users ID has over 500,000 listings but you click on the shop and there are only 55 pages..

I have been with bidbay long enough to get my feedback there but I do not understand this part. I really never paid attention to all the numbers or anything else until ... well D-Day....

ONE SELLER HAS A HALF MILLION ITEMS ON THEIR SITE???

That's half of what they say the total is. How do they fit a half million items on only 55 pages? Oh, they count items? So, if I go list one dutch auction that has ten million match sticks available does that mean that they are the world's largest online auction?

Wow, I can create the biggest online auction in the world all in less than thirty seconds! The Internet is magical!

Something just doesn't add up Does it?? So I really doubt they have Over 4 million Members, 30,495.844 in Bids, 10,928,821 auctions since June 15, 2000, over 1,000,000 hits a day or 1,106,555 items in 2,239 catagories...

The way they count items and not listings is a BIG turn-off to buyers. When someone does a search and gets a result of let's say 500 items and it turns out to be 10 auctions it is VERY disappointing from a buyer's perspective. This has been a source of contention for Bidbay folks~~including the cheerleaders. For some reason the PTB do not recognize this is a turn-off for buyers. I guess it is because it keeps the total #'s high. When you do a search there, you just have to keep in mind how they count items and not listings.

Did I hear someone, thing, barking again.

How interesting!!! Ebay also states "over 5 million items" not "listings"

For the record, from my understanding as mentioned by their ceo, once public, millions of dollars will be spent on national TV campagins. I guess it is just a matter of time for them to rise.

Yeah but...Geor...er..Jor...er fullofknowldedge1...

But out of eBay's 5 million items listed....there isn't one member who has listed 2.5 million dutch items.

On BidBay one member has almost half of the 1,109,718 items BidBay touts just under their main user ID.

I wonder how many they could account for under their other user ids?

I know of another user who has 60,000 items with just 3 auctions.

Hey fullofknowledge1...what I stated above...is it "business economics interference?"

Yeah and the reason they are waiting for the advertising campaing after they go public must be because according to their SEC filing they had about $150,000 in cash and that was 6 months ago.

Are you still printing? Is stating something in an SEC filing "business economics interference?"

WOW -no new surprise here
it seem that some of us need to get a life.
what a boring life some we must have, wasting precious time digging for something to say that amount to a big pile of nothing.
but then some people have lost touch with reality due to computer, well my friends there is life outside that key board, that we can touch and really interact with it.
we made not be the all that big as we seem to be behind a monitor.

No...but I doubt very seriously you meant to include yourself in that little statement.

Anyway Marcio, let's stick to the point of the topic.

One member at BidBay accounts for almost half the listings there. Under their main ID.

Do you honestly think one eBay member accounts for half the listings over there?

Actually what is "ammuzing" and amazing fullofknowledge1 is that you would know I was referring to you.

When the only people I have said anything to regarding your user ID is the moderators in my email last night to them...and to George Tannous the CEO of BidBay of which I have copies of that email with full headers.

So my question is how do you know I was referring to you?

How do you know I wasn't referring to someone in the eBay outlook? Or on the roundtable?

I think you just slipped up badly.

Edited to add quotation remarks...lol

AG2,

I checked your feedback at BB "78" positive comments from many users.

And, you're here condeming a place as well as many people who transacted with you in the past. Your hurting them.

Go read it over.

With that thought in mind, I'll leave you alone.

Good Luck to you and whatever you're trying to accomplish.

Well I am not a dog~~so there is no barking here. The numbers in question have been questioned on Bidbay boards, AW boards, honesty boards, etc. NUMEROUS folks on Bidbay boards have disagreed with how the numbers are counted on NUMEROUS occasions. Some of the "high" profile Bidbay members DO NOT agree with the way the numbers are counted. IT IS a turn-off to buyers~~as many stated on all the boards~~not just the "barking dogs" as someone stated. I didn't attack anyone in my post and do not appreciate being referred to as a barking dog or someone who needs to get a life. It is unreal to me that folks feel threatened and the need to post personal insults because people are having a civilized discussion regarding an AUCTION SITE. Excuse me~~is this not what AW is FOR??!! According to philosophies stated in this thread~~ANYONE who posts on ANY board, including Bidbay's, needs to get a life. So I guess auctiongallery, Mrfannini's posts apply to everyone ever posting on ANY board~~including himself.

"ammuzing" that we know over there who has issues with spelling, meaning a problem spelling correctly. I believe the moderators here should surely check out the possibility of some id violations. And PLEASE, if someone does not know english, have one of your kids type it for you! ( this is not aimed at anyone in particular really!) I think it very "ammuzing" that the very people who are so quick to call some trolls and basement lurkers are here all the time....hehe

getting back to the topic yes i don't agree on the numbers count. and i have stated that before, but i don't run the show, and we all have a choice. i choose to stay and support BidBay. Com 100%
and with time it will get better.

Please pardon me for sticking my nose in, but I ahve been reading a number of these boards, (as I am sure many do)
Though I am not actually involved because I do not sell or buy on BIDBAY, I would like to encourage you all to keep this up. It is VERY AMUSING!
Especially when the touts for the auction sites contiually come running out like Whacky firefighters to fan the flames and keepit going.
As an avid supporter and user of a different auction site I want to say thank you for continuing to drive customers our way with this bickering and drivel., I only have one question:
Who's minding the store?

edited to include the typos so as not to overwhelm anyone with perfection

Thanks for the clarification Mr. F. My brain mileage is fine. I do agree with you that "we" individuals can not change how Bidbay chooses to conduct business. Someone asked a question and I was simply pointing out that it IS a turn-off to buyers and all you had to do was take how they are counted into consideration when doing a search. All I do now on Bidbay is search for items to buy~~I am not selling there. I do not like the inflated numbers when doing searches or viewing categories~~but I take the way the count is done into consideration when opening up a category. As a buyer, someone who is willing to spend cash money when and if I can find what I am looking for~~I think my opinion is valid regardless of what you may perceive my "brain mileage" to be. Sorry I can't voice my opinion on the BB boards but it seems I am not allowed to. I much prefer the way AW moderates anyway rather than the way BidBay censors.

Ahem!

Everyone, please stop with the personal comments. If you'd like to discuss the topic, which is Bidbay item numbers, please feel free. But do not discuss the individual. That is a violation of the CGs.

Thanks for your cooperation.
