Because I know that this board is populated with right wing dummies such as you, linda, I would not use the word "respect" to discribe my recognition of Osama bin Laden's diabolitical intentions and his ability to carry them out.
About the word, respect....
I could say, for example, that I respect your ability to obfuscate an issue by long rambling scatterbrained thoughts interspersed with copy paste articles from righ wing rags. In that use of the word, respect, I would not mean that I "approve" of your posting style.

I mean, get real....how many times to we hear 'Did the religious left do [this or that]. No, in some people's thought processes that's oh so different. But they turn to that same God to help them make their decisions. Rare are they rediculed like the right is though. Bias...pure bias.

Let's make this simple helen....because you're just confused again.
The 'dummies' are the ones who can't grasp what those like binladen have stated over and over - their reasons for what they're doing.
I'd say if anyone is a 'dummy' it would be those who keep asking to understand them.....when most already do.
Do you just ignore binladen's own statements while searching to 'better understand' him? Do you ignore the statements of his followers as to why they're doing all this?
If not....then I sure as heck don't understand why it's so hard for YOU to grasp/understand/believe the reasons THEY'RE giving to us.

dbl - I believe some on the right do the same thing though.
But it's always so funny, while sad too in a way, that the bias one hears or reads daily is so obvious...and yet the lefties will only focus on the 'religious' right.
Mention seperation of church and state....you'll NEVER hear them complaining about hillary clinton being in a federal building meeting with other senators for a [GASP - of all things] a PRAYER meeting.
Mention religion at all...and so many on the left here would NEVER even think of the 'religious left'....let alone ever make a biased statement about them.
Sad....but true....their own personal prejudices are always oh-so clear.
But....we must remember...again...they're the party of 'tolerance'. [so they SAY anyway ] I haven't seen any proof of that around here.

It's you righties who use your religion to suit your agendas... God says Bush is a holy man, and can do no wrong... God says, Kerry is a traitor blah blah..God says thou shall not kill.. except those you decide need to go...oops..was that part added later?

Figures .....
In my eyes....there is no difference between the two....they both are/did offer the same idea.

#2 Did he SAY God told him this? No, it's his opinion, just like you have yours. So how is it in the name of religion?
#3 Hasn't Osama said the same thing regarding Bush? Where is the outrage over that "man of God" advocating murder?

sorry you'll RARELY find them holding the terrorists accountable for anything.....everything is this President's fault. Once you have that straight....you'll better understand where they're coming from in the opinions they state.
They forget/overlook/ignore that binladen, et al, want not only to kill our President....but all of us. And some of them even think he can be 'talked' out of it.

When he uses his religious television program to broadcast his opinion..he is preaching.
I think the dumb ass bible thumpers all over the world take these so called Preacher's words as Gospel...
Don't try and make it anything other than it was ... a stupid thing for him to say ... even if many of us may believe what he said has some merit.. A self professed man of God...shouldn't be advocating the killing of anyone..
Now twist and turn you bunch of corkscrews...use your religion to make things "right".. what a big bunch of hypocrites...

BECAUSE they're religious they should just be quiet...and only non-religious/secular/atheists should be allowed to speak.
And according to you, they CERTAINLY shouldn't have the right to say what they want on their own TV program...or in the OWN churches.
Whether you agree with what he said or not.....it's his RIGHT to say what he wishes.

Ron - ::I think President Bush will sit in the background.::
I agree with you but I think that that will be a result of his waining approval numbers. I think that a republican candidate in a clos election is not going to want to align himself visually with a President that is not popular among the swing voters.
Linda - I appreciate your answering my question...unfortuantely I just don't agree with you. In my opinion, they want abortion made to be a state issue because they don't feel they can influence it on a federal level and they want marriage federalized because they have not been able to successfully influence it on the state level. I think that much of the conservative movement prefers whatever form of government serves thei purpose of the day.
Re: Robertson.... is any one truly shocked he said this? Are you even mildly surprised? Robertson has a long and illustrious history of assinine statements. Gotta admit that I would love to see himn arrrested and held for questioning by Venezualan officials. Maybe that would shut him up for awhile.

So are you endorsing the practice of religious leaders calling for nuclear attacks on government building an the assasination of World leaders now Linda? Or do you just believe that they should have the right to do so even if you disagree.
BTW - is this a right that should only be extended to Christians leadership or are you going to come to the same level of defense when an Islamic religious leader makes similar statements.

Robertson is 75 years old, he seems to think that assination of Chavez would stop war, apparently he has forgotten alot of history.

fenix - I just don't agree with you.
That comes as a complete surprise to me...I'm shocked...shocked I tell you.
In my opinion, they want abortion made to be a state issue because they don't feel they can influence it on a federal level
I don't see it that way. They HAVE been successful at a federal level. The anti-partical birth abortion bill has passed twice. Both times clinton vetoed it. I believe it will be on the table again before this administration is over.
and they want marriage federalized because they have not been able to successfully influence it on the state level.
I think you're WAY off here. Maybe you should review the stats on just how many states have passed laws against gay marriage. Most all have. So why you'd think they haven't been able to influence it.....is a mystery to me. I see the state laws that have passed much differently than you must be viewing them.
Re: Robertson.... is any one truly shocked he said this?
They shouldn't be. After all this was the exact same idea the clinton administration was considering doing to old saddam.
How would it be any different in Robertson's case. BOTH consider/ed it a way of not losing more lifes.
Gotta admit that I would love to see himn arrrested and held for questioning by Venezualan officials.
Well...you're again agreeing with just what the Venezualan officials are calling for.
Thank heaven he lives in a country that supports freedom of speech....while disagreeing with it in total. Never thought I'd see the day when you stood up against free speech.
Maybe that would shut him up for awhile.
The left here is always saying that. 'shut up the opposition'. And here I thought they said they're the party of tolerance and acceptance......not so I see.

Come to think of it, fenix....I do believe it was you who offered this same suggestion when it came to a supposedly 'better' way to take out saddam. Rather than going to war and putting our soldiers lives at risk.
Is that not true? So how do you see your statement of support for doing that to saddam vs. Robertson suggesting it?

Yes Linda, many have, but others have legaized it and that drives conservatives crazy so in order to override states rights they atre pushing for a Federal statute to override individual will of states which do not fall into line with them.

You are not answering my question Linda. Do you believe that this freedom of speech that gives Robertson (who is a private citizen) the right to go on television and endorse using nuclear weapons upon our own governments and assasinating foreign leaders is a right that is held by all? Are you going to be just as supportive and eager to defend an Muslim leader that makes the same statements?
I find it ironic that as much as you have cheered the Brits for cracking down on mulims spreading negative messages that you turn around so quickly and state that Roberts has every right to do the exact same thing.

He's free to make these kind of statements, just like anyone else. But he also will have to live with any ramifications of his words.
Now that the Venezulan military has secret orders to assassinate Pat Robertson, I wonder what extra safety precautions he's taking?
True, the government can't do anything to PR, but you can bet there are plenty of Venezualen citizens in this country...
How many of you folks pointing the finger would regret it if PR turned up dead tomorrow morning?
