I just ran the same searches as above, again placing the search criteria in parentheses so only those exact phrases in the auction descriptions came up. Here's the summary of "anti-PayPal" messages in eBay auctions:

Here are my results:
"no longer accept Paypal" : 2687
"no longer accepting Paypal" : 389
"do not accept Paypal" : 15413
"no Paypal" : 11758
"Paypal sucks" : 5
Putting the phrase in quotes returns descriptions containing the exact phrase.
What does it mean? As someone noted above, some of these folks probably never accepted Paypal. On the other hand, many may have removed the links and replaced them with another service (as I did) with no mention of PayPay.
Only the phrases "no longer accept" or "no longer accepting" are for-sure users who have dropped PayPay. The rest is speculation, but I think those 3000 users are significant. Though not enough to derail PayPay, they've pretty much reached critical mass. They could lose half their membership and still be a huge success.

Glenda, I'm not sure what you typed, but putting a phrase inside parentheses ORs the words. Put the phrase in quotes to return the exact phrase.

I am gonna be berated, but what the hell..
I see the flusteration many have with paypals recent 'changes' but by adding
'paypal sucks' or 'anti paypal' gives buyers the notion that you may seem diffucult to deal with ...
when I see big red letters saying 'payments in 3 days ' or 'negatives left to deadbeats that waste my time' in listings I get turned off by the tone. I also read who many of you hate that damned before you do theroy as well.
why not just say .. 'no paypal accepted, no exceptions'?
just my extra change.

Now that Paypal has decided to charge us 1.50 for CHECKS, I have
decided to drop paypal. after the auctions I have running now end, I will
cancel my paypal account.
I will be placing a message similar to this at the bottom of my auctions
from now on..
I am sorry but I can no longer Accept PAYPAL as payment. why ?
Because in addition to the 25 cents per transaction fee they charge, and in
addition to the 1.9% fee they charge, they are now charging an additional
$1.50 for sending me MY MONEY by check. Please View the many
other methods of payment that I accept ---
*My Invoices from now till the 15th will state.*
I can accept Paypal until Oct 15th. I am sorry but
After Oct 15th I will no longer accept payment with Paypal - DO NOT
SEND MONEY TO PAYPAL after Oct 15th....
you can send me a check, cash, moneyorder, or use Bidpay,
ExchangePath, or Paydirect... I hope this does not cause you any inconvenience....

I now list PayPal as an option in my auction listings to draw in the PayPal-only bidders and then add to this to my EOAs:
Please note: Due to the current situation with PayPal, we do not feel comfortable recommending their service to buyers at this time. Please feel free to email me for more information about this if you wish.
We recommend ExchangePath (www.exchangepath.com) and Yahoo PayDirect (paydirect.yahoo.com) for fast, safe, and easy on-line credit card payments.
ExchangePath allows us to accept any major credit card and is currently offering a $10 sign-up bonus for new accounts. Yahoo PayDirect is backed by one of the largest and most well established companies on the web.
Of course, we still accept PayPal for those customers who still feel comfortable using them.

Looks unprofessional put anything in an auction about why you won't take a payment.
If you don't accept paypal or credit cards, why not just say check and money orders? That's the way it was before so many signed up with paypal a few months ago.
Fees to the buyer? Can I deduct the cost of stamps and envelopes if you don't accept paypal?
And no, don't ask me to start signing up for other payment services. Paypal and Billpoint are enough to keep track of for me. I don't need my financial info out to even more services.
"If 10,000 aren't taking PP, that's .25% of the total 4 million items for sale right now.
Even if 100,000 aren't taking it, that's only 2.5% of the total.
The numbers don't mean anything until they are adjusted for the number of people who never took PP in the first place. Show me some figures on how many people have actually changed their TOS, then it might be more of an impact."
Perhaps you're correct that up to 2.5% of auction items (very generous) have been changed to specifically state that they no longer accept PayPal.
But how many of the folks that only take checks and money orders took a look at the PayPal site and decided they weren't about to become entangled in *that* mess, so they simply continued on with their checks and money orders policy?

You folks that load up your ads with negitive remarks are killing your auctions, I just sold a $1400.00 item to a local person yesterday, and he told me that the only reason he took the time to contact me, was that my ad was full of information on the item 6 pics, measurments, and all the flaws were disclosed, and no negitive rules. Just something to think about. Ed

That's what I'm trying to say. Negative remarks, dire warnings and such turn me off.
I don't need to be told that you'll post negative feedback (isn't negative FB expected if I don't pay?). I don't need to be told why you won't accept credit cards. I don't need a TOS that is longer than the description.
If a seller's attitude in a listed auction seems to be negative, then I won't deal with that seller. Set your TOS and stick with them, but don't give me a long explanantion about deadbeats or NSF checks.
Can't imagine walking into a store and seeing a blaring, large sign that says "we won't take your credit card if it's from ***** bank." There are other ways to politely, professionally decline.

I would disagree with this statement. I have had no complaints from buyers but I have had several emails thanking me for "cluing them in" to what's going on with PayPal. Many eBay users don't frequent these boards and seem to appreciate a heads up about these matters.
