Near - That's okay. I know we disagree on many things, but it just didn't sound like you.
Just remember, these people have nothing at all. No photos, no shoes or clothing, no furniture, no appliances, no personal care products, nothing. $2,000 could hardly replace a lifetime of personal items. Heck, that's what my computer cost me a couple of years ago.

Good post, Cheryl. It amazes me that after watching the news these last 2 weeks and seeing people in the most dire need, Linda cannot find any charity in her heart----or at least in her posts. That is mighty cold. Not that it matters, but people on public assistance are not the only ones who desperately need help. So many people evacuated and came back to find nothing--no house, furniture, cars, pictures, mementos,no job, no school, no doctor or hospital, no pharmacy---and most heart rending of all no loved ones. Where do you begin to put your life back together? Smug remarks about knowing how to take care of yourself adds nothing constructive to the situation. Empathy is the key to being a decent human being.

You bring up a good point, coincoach, that many of these people, along with the destruction of their lives , are mourning lost relatives and friends. They didn't have the luxury of having wakes and funerals to care for and honor their dead.
They have gone through a hell that we cannot imagine and the neocons just keep heaping blame and derision on them.
Then they whine and whine when bushy gets blame for a job badly done! Oh poor little bushy...such a tough life he has....

First of all, Linda, I was not talking about literal charity--as in donations of time or money. How would I know (or even care) what you do or do not donate? I was talking about the obvious non-charitable remarks of yours that are all over these boards. You seem to so resent financial aide to the Gulf Coast, which, according to you is filled with ne'er do wells, lazy welfare drains on society and morons who can't take care of themselves. That is why I said in my post, that despite what you think, there are hard working people with homes they earned, loved ones lost and nowhere to go. They evacuated like good little boys and girls, but still have nothing to return to. Is it ok to help them? As for all the government supported leeches---maybe we can just lead them down to the Mississippi and toss them in.

I aree, Chrissy. In fact, anyone with so little concern for her less fortunate fellow Americans does not deserve to be let off the hook with just the word, "unkind". Linda's intolerant disregard and demeaning attitude toward the less fortunate and in this case poor victims of a national disaster can only be described as detestable or foul.
