A few deaths? There have been more than 5000 people killed in Afghanistan and Iraq. Anyone with compassion should be whining about it. But I'm curious what your view is about "what needs to be done".

So when they burn the corpses of Americans it is desecration but when we do it it is a war on terror?

Perhaps it is because those who started the war did not plan very well, misled the public on how long the war will last and did not give the troops the equipment they needed to win the war properly.

Ron, I think she meant something else, I think!
But when the 'insurgents' and terrorists take Americans (military, journalists, contractors there to rebuild) and put them on video and behead them, what do you call that??
posted on October 25, 2005 03:40:06 PM new
Precisely Near, but if we were to do the same we would never hear the end of it.
We need to literally destroy and insurgent town to get a point across, surround the city have all the residents leave going through a thorough search process and then level the town with airstrikes.
Any thing left dies.
But of course the outcry this would cause would not allow us to do something like that and if we can't then we can't win. And should make plans to leave.

One can only imagine the noise from the left if we fought the war on terror in the same manner the terrorists use...
I gave my liberal neighbors son a book for his birthday. He went crazy trying to find where to put the batteries.

Here we go again....blame the soldiers....the same ones who say they sooooo support them.

Ron I'd agree with doing just that. But war has become 'nice' and there are just things the world doesn't approve of. One is doing whatever it takes to win. Even our own countrymen/women don't like it to be 'messy'. They think for some reason, war is 'nice and neat'.
You ask “Is this the way you feel about the middle east problem?”
I would have to answer. “Yes.”
I’m sick of the B.S. Sick of the shadow of terrorism and sick of not being abler to understand them at the 7/11.

Thanks Maggie and Helen. It is good to be back. I see things haven't changed around here much.
The rest was great. Had plenty of time to take a restful vacation and watch the baseball playoffs.
Classic, I missed you as much as I miss getting the flu I hope you enjoyed your little vacation as well.

Ron, you are right we won't win the war on terror in Iraq. In Viet Nam America lost 50,000 troops. Our government told us the war was to fight the spread of Communism. Now 35 years later this government embraces communism by buying their products and borrowing their money. Why did we loose all those lives? The Communist countries are doing well. China almost owns us,Viet Nam is still communist, Castor is laughing at us daily, and we still have a half pint leader making WMD in N.Korea
In Iraq Bush/Cheney started the war LIEING to the American people its Congress and the world about WMD. How many more American lives do the Bush supporters want to loose in a War started from LIES. A war that Bush and company doesn't know how to win.
The U.S. hasn't fought a war to win since WW-2. If you are not going to fight a war to win why bother to fight one.
Ron, don't try to blame Bush's governments mistakes and failures on the American people you call "whiners". The American people did all the right things. They supported the war, they sent their kids off to fight the war, they funded the war. Its Bush and his government that has failed in this war not the American people stupid.
Your problem is your form of CON-servative government was given its chance and its failed. Now you and other NEOCONS on this board want to blame the American people. Your spin and CON-servative mindset isn't working any longer.

Logansdad:
"Perhaps it is because those who started the war did not plan very well,"
They won the war in a matter of months. Remember "Mission Accomplished"? That -WAS- the end of the war. Or if you prefer, the capture of Saddam was the end. The rest is cleanup. No one (except you anti-Bushies) seemed to think there would be no future resistance.
"misled the public on how long the war will last"
I don't remember ever hearing any withdrawal dates. We'll leave when their government is stable. You can't put a calendar date on something like that. Why do you guys just have to have a set date? We're done when we're done.
"did not give the troops the equipment they needed to win the war properly. "
Every soldier has a gun. If they aren't allowed to use it, blame the press and the whiny liberals, not the soldiers.

And I'm so sick of explaining away the "BUSH LIED!!!" thing that I'm not even going to respond to it again. If you think Bush lied, you aren't going to change your mind, cause your judgement is simply screwed up by your hatred of the man.

The real world isn't like a semester at school where you take a test at the end of three months and it's over.
We'll leave when the job is done.
Unlike liberals who just leave something because they did their eight hours, we have to finish this and finish it right.
There are no rules on how things will go. There are constant diversions and we must change with them. It's not a time thing.
The only time-lines that were given were on case scenarios. Best case, worst case.
When this President or any President gets a crystal ball (that really works) these things will change. Don’t hold your hand OYA.
It’s not a win thing now. It’s setting up an oasis of freedom in the middle east, something that others will strive to achieve.

Colin, I have told you before your word "Hate" is not a word I use. I don't hate anyone. As far as I am concerned several words you use are only NEOCON KEY words. Used by people like you that act like parrots for the Bush/Cheney/Rove, LIE MACHINE.
I do very much dislike, distrust and disrespect your form of CON-servative government based on their LIES,actions and the laws they make.
BUSH/CHENEY/ROVE, LIED YESTERDAY,TODAY AND WILL CONTINUE TO LIE TOMORROW.
You Republicans can't make up your mind on what constitutes a war. It is not the called the "Cleanup of Terror".
In my opinion as long as our troops are in Iraq fighting insurgents and fighting to bring the Iraqis freedom. The "War" is still going on. You can claim "Mission accomplished" all you want but that does not mean it is true.
I don't remember ever hearing any withdrawal dates.
I am not talking about the withdrawl dates. I am talking about how the Bush team talked about how long the war would last when it first started back in 2002. Rumsfeld and Cheney suggested it would be a short war.
Every soldier has a gun. If they aren't allowed to use it, blame the press and the whiny liberals, not the soldiers.
There is more than just having a gun to fight a war. Heck in your opinion you should be qualified to fight a war if you were given a gun. If the soldiers had sticks and rocks as weapons would you still say they have the proper equipment. The media is not fighting the insurgents. It is the soldiers fighting the war and if you do not remember it is the soldiers themselves that are saying they do not have the proper equipment.
Continue to believe the "Stay the Course" plan if you want, but in my view that is no plan at all, especially if "stay the course" has not been working for the past year. If "Stay the Course" was a plan for Vietnam, we would still be there fighting.
Absolute faith has been shown, consistently, to breed intolerance. And intolerance, history teaches us, again and again, begets violence.

bigturd, You amaze me. Your may be, the dumbest person I've ever met (I say this in a nice way). If the world is getting this stupid. I believe the days of the human race are over.
That you can actually type (even with one finger) is surely a feat for you. Your thinking and reasoning processes are that of a vegetable..
You have never answered any of my questions. I have answered all yours.
Have you or any members of your family ever been on Jerry Springer? Tell me about your almost successful business. Did your wife or boy friend leave you? Are you from Kentucky or West Virginia? Have you always wanted to be a man? Do people point at you in public? Do you have an Elmer Fudd hat for winter?

"You have never answered any of my questions."
He can't Colin....hasn't a clue as to what he says....but keeps repeating it anyway. You're not the first to point out to him that he refuses to answer questions put to him either. Even some on the left have said the same thing to him.
He just comes here to blow off steam, not to support his false claims.

Oh good grief, linda. Talk about uninformed and you define the right wing Bush contingent. Bush relies on such minds that he can so easily manipulate with simplistic slogans and emotionally packed words.
How can anyone discuss a topic here with posters who only have as a frame of reference Clinton's sex life or World war 11. Every single discussion necessitates bringing you and all of your "righties" up to speed. And while that is taking place it's necessary to defend against personal attacks which is all that you righties have in your pitiful uninformed arsenal.
No one here on the left can say boo to you without a torrent of such nonsensical attacks. Have you noticed yet how popular and appreciated that tactic has become based on the few comments posted?
