Pi,
I can't even think of anything to add to this post. It keeps changing.
Oh I did try the snegro bar battered and deep fried.

Not bad.

On the smoking I just wondered how it got to peterpuffers. I've heard of that brand. I think it was big in San Francisco. Is it a women’s cigarette like Eve?

USA Gold for me. They are cheap and will kill me just as fast.

I have to admit. I too see a lot of Alcohol and Drug abuse on this board but as I believe your all (most of you) adults, I guess it’s your chose.
Amen,

That's what i like most about this board. Subjects can change at a moments notice and it's not just serious politics all the time. If that were the case, i wouldn't be here much. Most of the peeps in the EO don't post here much because they will get their wittle feelings hurt but what they don't know is that in order to get along in here, you just have to not take it so serious all the time. There's lots of room for just having some fun.

Trick or treat, Helen.

Those look good, Dblf but as far as a packaged pastry goes, i prefer Gonzito's. They're a white cake with cream filling, raspberry jelly on top and then covered in chocolate.

Colin-I smoke the same damn things-USA lights-not bad once you get use to them.
If you get them over the internet they're $18.00 a carton.I get 10 cartons at a time, which usually lasts me a whole week.

ah pi...had to sneak back in for your reply. such a knight in shining armour you are!

What is gonzitos? I wonder if we have them in philly...? Me myself I prefer pizzelle cookies but the honey, well he likes the creme and ho-ho type cakes (which are not pastry by the way), so I bring them for him and these were Entemans dirt cheap - at only a dollar special today.

Colin, what does it mean to drop the com off the com-puter? Wonder who started that 'puter thing? Probably some stupid little tart on aol who every little thing they say goes out like a broadcast signal to the world. She must have one hell of a big kauhuna in love with her.

Dblf, they just started selling Gonzito's here again after them being gone from the grocery shelves for about 20 years. They are a packaged pastry from Mexico and I believe because we now have more Mexican immigrants here now, that's why they are selling them here again.

'what does it mean to drop the com off the com-puter? Wonder who started that 'puter thing?'

Here in New Mexico they do and say the same thing, except that instead of a 'puter' it's a 'puta'

This is enough to make me want to quit.

From the website of TheTruth.com I had copied this from their website a couple of years ago, so i don't know if they still have it on the website.

Cigarettes are Poisonous.

This is not the drone of someone trying to tell you what to do with your life, it is a fact. Just
because they are sold in stores doesn't mean they're ok. And sure, they make you look bad when
you smoke them, because it is bad to smoke them. Bad like a rotten, moldy sandwich in the
bottom of the refrigerator, or literally like oven cleaner on your Frosted Flakes.

The only ones who are really bad are the corporation executives in their yachts, laughing at
you while you get cancer, and make them rich.

There are over 4000 chemicals in cigarettes. Some that you may recognize are:
Acetic Acid (vinegar), Acetone (nail polish remover), Ammonia (floor/toilet cleaner)
Arsenic (rat poison), Butane (cigarette lighter fluid), Cadmium (rechargeable batteries)
Carbon Monoxide (car exhaust fumes), DDT/Deildrin (insecticides, Ethanol (alcohol)
Formaldehyde (preservation of body, tissue and fabric), Hexamine (barbecue lighter)
Hydrogen Cyanide (gas chamber poison), Methane (swamp gas), Methanol (rocket fuel)
Napthalene (mothballs), Nicotine (insecticide/addictive drug)
Nitrobenzene (gasoline additive), Nitrous Oxide Phenols (disinfectant)
Stearic Acid (candle wax), Toluene (industrial solvent), Vinyl Chloride (makes PVC)

Chemicals known to cause cancer, called carcinogens.
Benzo(a)pyrene, B-Napthylamine, Cadmium , Crysenes, Dibenz Acidine, Nickel,Nitrosamines
N. Nitrosomes , P.A.H.s, Polonium 210 , Toludine, Urethane
Dimethylnitrosamine, Ethylmethylnitrosamine, Nitrosopyrrolidine, Hydrazine, Vinyl Chloride
Urethane, Formaldehyde , Carbon Monoxide, Hydrogen Cyanide, Acrolein, Acetadehyde
Nitrogen oxides, Ammonia , Pyridine, Nitric acid, Mathylamine, Indole,
3-hydroxypyridine, 3-vinylpyridine, Acetone, Acetonitrile, Acrolein, 1,3-Butadiene, mg
Nitrous acid, isoquioline, Isoamylamine, 3-Cyanopyridine

Components (Known or probable carcinogens);
Polonium-210, Benzo[a]pyrene, Hydrazine, 1,3 butadiene, Benzene, N-nitrosopyrrolidine
N-nitrosodimenthylamine, Aniline, 2-Naphthylamine, 4-Aminobiphenyl, N-nitrodiethylamine

Metals:
Aluminum , Copper , Gold, Lead , Magnesium , Mercury, Silicon, Silver, Titanium, Zinc.

Think about it the next time you light up and take a long drag.

Thanks piinthesky - How hard to admit all that is what we're addicted to. And with classic's 10 cartons in a week......maybe that's why he's so well preserved.

Formaldehyde (preservation of body, tissue and fabric)

OMG Classic smokes 10 cartons a week??

Colin, I've ordered over the internet and they were cheap! BUT now UPS (and possibly USPS) have now agreed NOT to deliver cigarettes anymore, just heard that on the news yesterday.

Pi, so this inhaler is by prescription only? Sounds like something I could do. I have heard of an inhaler of sorts that you inhale through your mouth (like a cigarette) but can't find it anymore

Colin, we called it 'puter too. That was the first Prodigy days 93 or so, and bbs's.

NTS, i believe the one you're thinking about was the one that looked just like a cigarette and you did inhale it through your mouth. I haven't seen these in some time.

The one my doctor prescribed is meant to be misted nasaly but not to be sniffed back into the lungs. The medicine (nicotine) is supposed to be obsorbed into your nasal membranes but not to go down your throat into your stomach. I asked about dosage and he said that you can do 10 an hour and 80 a day if you feel like you need it. When i get it, i'll post back and tell you all about it and how it's working for me.

Colin,
I don't have health insurance and i can't read what my doctor wrote on the script. The only word i can make out is Nicotrol. The rest looks like a bunch of squiggly words to me. Why do they have to do that with something as important as a prescription? Don't they know that if the Pharmascist can't read it then the chances of getting it wrong goes up and you might get the wrong med.

ed to fix Colin's name, accidentally called him Colon.....sorry.

Here are different sites that speak about both the nasal inhalers and sprays.

You're welcome.

I'd just go 'cold turkey' but i think that after a few days without any nicotine that Colin might put me on his A list and i've never seen anyone that was put on that list come back off of it.

------------

Thanks Linda, there's alot of usefull info in those sites.
Here's something kinda funny that i found on one of them though.

"Side effects may include:
Acid indigestion, allergies, back pain, coughing, diarrhea, fever, flu-like symptoms, gas, headache, hiccups, jaw and neck pain, mouth and throat irritation, nasal inflammation, nausea, pain, sinus inflammation, taste disturbances, tingling skin sensation, tooth disorders."

Notice they said 'tooth disorders' and not 'teeth disorders', must be a Kentucky website.

"Why should this drug not be prescribed?
Nicotrol Inhaler should not be used by anyone allergic to nicotine or menthol."

Well duh, if they are allergic to nicotine then why are they smoking in the first place?

Yes, Thank much Linda
I did check out the web for the inhaler.

Found this:
Stop smoking as soon as you begin treatment with nicotine. Smoking while using this medication can be dangerous.

Keep used and unused nicotine systems out of the reach of children and pets to prevent poisoning.

Let me know how it works for you.

I quit several years ago..for about 5 years. then started again. I was doing a ton of stressful things and the doctor told me "go ahead and smoke...at least you won't be wanting to beat someone to death."

Anyway. When I quit I used a hypnotist. I quit that very day. Threw my cigs in a pail he had at the front of his office. I called to go back to him years later but..lo and behold...He's not with us anymore. BTW.. He didn’t charge anything. He was a department head at the University I worked at.

Maybe I’ll see if there’s someone else around and try the hypno thing.

I tried the nicotine patch, but couldn't figure out where to light it

HAR HAR thats an old one!

I really did try the patch, and I was going through downtown traffic, and couldn't stand it, ripped it off, went to the closest 7-11 and bought a pack!! ( I had thrown all cigarettes away earlier)

My dad quit cold turkey when he was about 58. He was a FIVE PACK A DAY of Larks (if anyone remembers those, YUCK)And he's now in his 80s and is fine!

Linda I'll check out your link! Thanks !

You're welcome, gentlemen.

Gosh Colin - Five years off....that's really great. And if that worked for you before....it most likely will again.

I tried it about 4 years ago....and did just as you stated you did....threw those cancer sticks in the trash after walking out of his office. Two days later I was heading off to 7-11 again. It's so hard to stop.

But I wish everyone the best of luck if you do decide to give it another go at quitting. Won't hurt to try again....nothing lost.

I know, Near, I tried the patch too. My biggest problem was that I couldn't keep it to stay attached to my skin. lol Kept coming off so I'd tape it with medical tape and it still would loosen up to much to be affective. Then there was the 'fun' of rubbing my skin off in order to get the 'tape' marks off.

I think I'd need to use something oral or like the inhalers/sprays.
