"Helen - I always considered Maryland and Virginia to have very similar accents. I don't think that the pronunciation is so different from the rest of the south, it's just that there is much less drawl and a lot more speed. I lost my accent pretty quick when I left the area but when I get mad I sound like Scarlett O'Hara on meth."

Fenix, I notice the Virginia accents but since I've lived in the Maryland, D.C. area for several years, I don't notice the Maryland accent. I also lost my southern accent very quickly when I moved from Mississippi to New York but like you I revert back and forth depending on the circumstances. My husband pointed out, to my surprise, that I use a southern drawl when talking on the phone to relatives in Mississippi.

You know, it's really not that hard to change a faucet. Your new ones should have come with instructions, correct? I can't imagine ever having to pay a plumber for anything, or get a permit for that matter.

How much should this cost, or how many hours would it take a plumber? Any ideas?

It all depends on whether you hire a Democratic plumber or a Republican plumber.

The Republicans can't seem to fix the leak in New Orleans.

Absolute faith has been shown, consistently, to breed intolerance. And intolerance, history teaches us, again and again, begets violence.

The duty of a patriot in this time and place is to ask questions, to demand answers, to understand where our nation is headed and why. If the answers you get do not suit you, or if they frighten you, or if they anger you, it is your duty as a patriot to dissent. Freedom does not begin with blind acceptance and with a flag. Freedom begins when you say 'No.'

I thought the mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of Louisana were democrats.

Yes, you can get it done cheaper by a Duimbocrat

but it wouldn't be done right.

I'd have to bet the plumber was a union man, that supports the Dumbocratic party.
