"How many of YOU are willing to BLEED money just to serve other people's sense of entitlement?"
Heck, PayPal is bleeding SOMEONE ELSE'S money. I'd be more than happy to bleed someone else's money for as long as they'd let me.
But when I'm on the other end --paying fees-- I want honest, clear, reliable service for my money. That's why I've switched to other pay services.
I'm not looking for a free ride. I'm looking for a professional ride.

I know this won't be the most popular message on here but personally I really like the service I get from Paypal. I upgraded to a business account several months back and I have really enjoyed the benefits since then. The fees, at least to this point, really aren't bad and after all no one can give away their services forever. I know most people feel like someone pulled the rug out from under them, but the facts are everyone is going to have to start charging for processing credit cards sooner or later. Us sellers are going to have to absorb the brunt of it as in any other business that uses credit cards. I have seen offline businesses that charge a service fee for Credit transactions but they are becoming fewer and fewer. In business it is up to us to adapt and keep going or we will surely become extinct. Paypal may have their faults but the buyers love paying through them and it is going to be tough to convince them to change to something else. And then when the something else starts charging, and sooner or later they will, then what?

Keziak -- sure, I'm happy to share. It's simple and straightforward and goes something like this:
We accept credit cards through ExchangePath, PayPlace and Yahoo!PayDirect (no longer through PayPal). We're also happy to accept your personal checks and money orders.
Through today, you can still get the $10 sigh up bonus. But you'll still get referral fees which are $5.
I've had a very few people comment that they were sorry I no longer take PayPal, but I explain a little about why and give them a LONG list of URLS to threads (not even ALL the threads!!), and it's just not an issue, really.

Thought I'd mention that ExchangePath takes more credit cards, plus debit cards. From their Overview on their site:
Credit Cards: Visa® card, Mastercard® card, Discover®card, JCB® card, Diners Club International® card.
Charge Card: American Express® card.
Debit Cards: Visa or Mastercard.
Existing funds in your account.
You can have withdraw money to your account or to your credit card. Doesn't appear that it'll take as long as certain other services.
FREE. Sure, they may change that at some point, but for now it's free. For now they're not telling us any lies that I know of (like *always free*). They've not demonstrated any glaring incompetence that I know of and I haven't seen any of that utterly outrageous corporate arrogance we've seen elsewhere.
To be sure, I won't be keeping LOTS of money in any of these 3 accounts, but on the other hand, I've not heard of any unwarranted account seizures /restrictions either.
One of the things I believe will work in our favor, those of us who have changed *brands,* is that many of our customers are already familiar with this type service. It's not NEW, it's just a different company. No big deal for them to use something else instead of PayPal -- just as long as they can use their credit card (for some of them).

Oh!!! I just know I shouldn't rush into this huge conversation, but here I go. I closed a gift shop last March after 15 years in business, for various reasons. I decided to try Ebay, but I no longer had a merchant account. I did sign up for Paypal, and I, too, was surprised when they were not chargeing a fee. The card services charge them! I have not upgraded yet, but I don't think it will be long. I am kind of waiting to go over or hit that $500 limit. I DON'T HAVE USE OF A CHARGE CARD FOR ONLINE SERVICES, so it was difficult to sign up for some other services. Once I signed on to Paypal though, and began to sell things, I had money in that account that I could use to buy with. It is very difficult for me to get around sometimes, so I feel as though I have a limit as to my payment options. If someone does not use Paypal, I just can't take part in that auction. Just as a matter of interest, WHEN YOU SIGN UP WITH A CARD SERVICE, no matter which one it is, you sign a statement that says you will not set a minimum limit on the amount people must buy in order to use the card, and I don't think they like the notion of you chargeing the buyer for the service. You could certainly raise prices overall to pay for the service, but to limit someones ability to use their card by chargeing THEM, I believe is a NoNo.
It will be interesting to see how all of this turns out. I AM ANOTHER ONE OF THOSE WHO ENJOYS THE SERVICES OF PAYPAL, both buying and selling. I also enjoy a lot of these conversations!!! They are informative and sometimes downright funny.

Would you continue to enjoy using PayPal if you knew that they will freeze your entire account if they decide there is a problem with one transaction?
This is what their current policy is. I'm seeing more than a few posts from people who have had their accounts frozen for up to a month and PayPal continued to accept more transactions into their accounts - but would not even tell the seller why the account was frozen.
I've heard one person complain that PayPal froze his account because they didn't have his phone number.

Pay Pal, Billpoint, Who cares. As long as I can use my plastic to pay for sometning, it makes me no difference. I HATE going to the post office and buying a money order, or having the item delayed while they wait for my check to clear. I'll pay more for an item if the seller takes plastic.

I have heard so many complaints on fees being charged by PayPal and how they are bleeding the seller. How about sellers that charge $2 shipping on an item that costs them $0.44 to ship and maybe $0.20 for the envelope? I am a buyer and seller on eBay and find sellers bleeding me with shipping costs!! The profit on shipping from sellers is often GREATER than the fees they will pay with PayPal!
