Apparently its okay for you to make comparisons between your business and GM when its convenient to show how "compassionate" you are but if someone else makes a comparison then they're....well, what did you say - like failed dumbo or something? To each his own but typically I find it more effective when one doesn't contradict one's self in the same thread.

There is a good chance in January of 2006 Ford will start closing down American plants. What are you going to say then?
I guess if Ford lays off workers conservatives like the (Champion of labor) Ron will say. If it makes him money to lay off a few thousand fellow Americans so what.
Most Americans agree that under Bush and his conservative lawmakers there is a RISING STAR. Its the RedStarRising country of China.
China is just one more reason this CON-servative form of government is grumbling.

Peepa - your understanding of business will fit on the head of a pin. What really amazes me is your huge support of unions combined with a complete lack of understanding of them. Ford could not shut down a factory in 4 weeks if they wanted too. Union contracts do not allow such short notice. they may announce impending closures but much as the Gm announcement, those types of closures, if made, woulkd take place over a an extended period with at least 6 months advance notice.

Actually, it was you who did that. You made a rather big deal about how you are able to run a profitable business while being compassionate right on the heels of saying how bad GM was for not being compassionate. I don't know about you, but where I come from, thats a comparison.

Guess you probably shouldn't have made those comparisons if thats how you feel. Of course, I fully understand that sometimes upon further reflection people change their minds but its interesting how you keep comparing yourself to Bush.

Wow. It never ceases to amaze me how on the one hand Bush is "dumbo" and couldn't match two black socks from a pile of black socks but on the other hand has masterminded the entire economic rise of a country like China. Pretty nifty.

Rev.Colin, I don't screw old ladies out of antiques. Ya have to understand real antique dealers don't need to screw people.
Besides that Rev.Colin,lately its been Reverends that have been screwing people both literally and monetarily without compassion.
Conservatives being liars is another reason their conservative form of government is crumbling.

I know what you said Peepa - and that is exactly why I said what I did. They might announce impending closures but they are not going to begin lay offs with only a couple weeks notice. It violates union agreements and would cost them more in litigation costs than would be saved by not giving ample preperation notice.
This is why I say that your understanding of business is so limited. You seem to have no forward looking ability and completely ignore the ramifications of certain actions if those ramification do not slide easily into your preconcieved slots.

We will all be watching what Ford begins doing in January about closing plants. Personally I hope Ford finds ways to keep all the plants open and all the workers can keep their jobs.
With that I am out of this post but I am sure we will all MEAT again. LOL
