HAPPY BIRTHDAY kerryann! I still have some Pokemon birthday cake leftover from my son's party today... here's a virtual slice for you!
And I'm in the crowd older than you too... and also in the crowd who at 35 was not the happiest camper... still married to Dumdum, still in L.A. ... 5 years later, I'm still working at it but life is so good now... so much better than at 35 I could have thought it would be at 40! Don't give up.
Now where's my cane, lol

But Brian, darling, don't you think parny has really cute gif's, by the way, you would look great in a cape and a cowboy hat, shiver shiver shiver!

Why yes, I do think Parny's gifs are cute!
And I do look dashing in a cape and a cowboy hat! It's so cold and snowey here in the winter, I have taken to wearing a surplus East German Army Officer's Cape over my regular jacket.

Why, at just 35, are you so sure you're "never going to have a house or some security for the future"?
At 35 I was married to a certified lunatic (seriously) and living a nightmare in an apartment with a stalker landlord, in a job I hated where all the partners screamed at the staff all the time.
A year later and I was divorced, discovered I'd been sleeping with the wrong gender, and living and renovating a huge Victorian that I owned, in a job I loved making very nice bucks.
A year after that, I got very sick, had obtained custody of my son, and met my dear partner online (bitching on another message board).
Another year and I'd moved halfway across the country, sold my interest in the Victorian (quintupling my investment) and bought TWO houses.
One more year - finally reconciled with my mother, was fully disabled and started quilting, which I now do as "full time" as my health allows, and which - along with having a pet pig and driving a motor scooter - never even entered my imagination before then.
I'm now 44. I can't wait to see what another year will bring.

lol jeanyu, virtual cake for you too!
I agree with HCQ, you NEVER know what the next year will bring. Hate to sound cliche but life is what you make of it. And it's actually a good thing that you are pondering the dissatisfactions in yours...will give you the inspiration to make changes. Some people go through their whole lives content to be in little ruts, content to settle, content to be unhappy... you still have loads of time to turn it around!

Kerryann here's wishing you a happy, happy birthday and may you have many more. Chin up kiddo. It will come to you eventually. Owning a house can sometimes be a royal pain. I didn't buy my first house until I was almost thirty-four years old. Just keep up the positive thoughts.

Kerryann: Happy birthday. Just reading thru the threads and decided to drop in and offer congrats. Noticed that you seem a little down at the present time. Next time you're in a buying mood, find the book, The Magic of Believing by Claude Bristol. Written about 1947 or so, and reprinted many times. Read thru the book, and if you don't like it, or think it is a bunch of hogwash, resell it. My father gave me the book back in the early 50's and I have bought several since, just to give to kids and friends, and none have let go of it after. Only thing is, don't knock it until you try it. Other thing is, don't forget to dream bigger, it most likely will come true. I just bought one a few months ago, so I know there should be some around somewhere. I'm in my 60's now, and at the age of 35 I was as broke as could be, married with 4 kids, and wasn't sure if I could ever retire, furthest thing on my mind. Now I am retired, having a ball on the auctions, and inspired by some of the threads on AW.
