Ron,
Your greedy self serving words will be read by hundreds of people. I along with a few friends work very hard to get the word out to kick CON-servatives sickos like you in the AZZ.
IF THIS GOVERNMENT CAN SPEND BILLIONS REBUILDING IRAQ AND ITS UTILITIES. THIS GOVERNMENT CAN SURE AS HELL HELP A AMERICAN CITY LIKE NEW ORLEANS REBUILD THEIR UTILITIES.
desquirrel said,"You know the peepas, helens, etc of this world all line up and say when are YOU going to pay up for N.O."
Wrong desquirrel, people like me are lining up to put a stop to the greed and injustice in America. Caused by the transfer of wealth to a select few Americans by this CON-servative government.
People like me are working for the MAJORITY in America not the selected minority that the CON-servatives work for.
This President said he wants to set on Trent Loots porch and enjoy a drink. All I want is for this president to be able to set on anyones porch on the Gulf Coast or New Orleans and enjoy a drink.
This President said New Orleans and the Gulf Coast would be rebuilt better than before. We are all watching and waiting Mr.President for your PROMISE TO AMERICA COME TRUE!!!

lol...sure...that's just what they'll do.

Wonder why those who think the Feds should make it all right...don't think their own state should bail them out? Is the whole state incapable of helping out their 'oh-so-important' NO?

Simple Linda - when we talk about New Orleans we all know it's not just that one city. the state has lost billions in income. Their bills have not dropped but the states income has drastically when you start looking at income, sales and real estate taxes not being paid into the coffers. they don't have the money, but the way the feds are spending it as fast as they print it in every other department, is $350 million loan to fund rebuilding the power system here in our own country really so much to ask? Why is it that you brag when our government is paying to do it for a foreign country and #*!@ at the concept of them loaning the funds to do it in our own? At least there is some hope of them seeing that money again.

Gee I sure don't ever remember bragging but rather DEFENDING the negative comments from the liberals here that we weren't doing ENOUGH in Iraq to rebuild what, according to them, we had destroyed.
Think you're confused on that.
At least there is some hope of them seeing that money again. I don't agree that would for sure be the case. Everything's a risk....let private industry take that risk....not the Fed. gov. [we the taxpayers].

Fenix, what have they done to try to start back up? Where did this $350 mil. figure come from?
Is it because they have begun anything of trying to start the rebuilding process and has said that this will be the shortfall to complete the job?
Where are the investors? I am sure they still have share holders. That whole region is a mess, why not try and "borrow" power from another power company?
There are many avenues that seem to have been bypassed before asking for the handout. I am against it being a loan as that would be a false assumption that it would be paid back. Highly doubtful.
Peepa, what can we say but the tall tales and yarns you must spin must be something to hear.

I'm not a comedian. I only use material others have given me .
I find it a laugh a minute riot when some twit goes on and about GM "oppressing" its workers by paying them $85/hr and deciding to lay some of them off, but meanwhile says he adds "compassion" to the slave wages he pays in comparison.

They have been weorking on things Ron. They have restored power to most of the city but the substations and lines incurred huge damages. They (Entergy New Orleans) filed for Chapter 11 protection back in September and at the time recieved $150 million in loans from their parent company. As for "investors" Entergy is a publicly traded comany. When was the last time that a company you hold stock in called and asked you for a loan?
Remember what I said about our government making promises when the spotlight was on them and then backing away when the light goes off? Remember that 250 billion dollar aid bill that went thru right after Katrina? 2.5 billion of that was supposed to be earmarked for the restoration of public utilities. EntergyNO put in their numbers and their request for the funds that the House and Senate put aside for them and other utility comanies in the area just as they were supposed to do and they get shot down.
I don't get it. You have the House and Senate earmarking funds for exactly this purpose, you have the president standing up in front of the nation saying the area would be rebuilt and that "federal funds will cover the great majority of the costs of repairing public infrastructure in the disaster zone." and no one is following thru. It's shameful.
::That whole region is a mess, why not try and "borrow" power from another power company? ::
That's kind of like asking a guy with a busted fuel pump why he doesn't doesn't just buy more gas. The big problem in the region is not an inability to create power, it's the limited abilty to distrubte it and until the city is rebuilt and people start returning, thier income is a fraction of what it formerly was.

We will just have to agree to disagree on this fenix, I don't think they should be given the funds and on a personal note, I don't care if New Orleans ever gets rebuilt.
