bonecollector Bidding on a bucket of warm spit isn't too bright when you could just as easily not bid at all.

Uh oh... it went over someone's head. I guess I better explain it. You see a bucket of warm spit is worthless, and when I say I'd bid more on a bucket of warm spit than Bidville's search engine it means that Bidville's search engine is a very poor search engine when compared to those of about any other auction service.

I apologize for allowing my commentary on Bidville's search engine confuse you. I forgot there would be Bidville sellers (listers) here. Totally my fault.

A title search that could optional include a descriptive search would be much gooder.*

* "gooder" was used for humor

Now, I'll explain my meaning for you.

Why go out of your way to be deliberately insulting when you dislike bidville? If you don't like bidville or its search engine why would you bother browsing or bidding there at all? Why would you even waste your time reading a thread about bidville? Clearly, if bidville were perfect you still wouldn't like it. That makes your opinion about as useless as a bucket of warm spit, doesn't it?

I hate to admit it but bonecrusher makes a lot of sense with that post.

BV is not much different than a site like ePier yet there is very little ePier bashing, why is that? I bet a psychology major could do their thesis on the subject.

BV has a lot of pluses. It has been around in it's current incarnation since 12/06/02 and that indicates stability. Many auction sites have come and gone since BV started.

The site has little downtime, and few glitches. The man-behind-the-curtain does act on many requests via the community boards or email.

The $10 annual fee is very low since there are zero transaction fees.

+++++++++

Let's try a change of topic here. What would you do if you suddenly inherited the sole ownership of BV? What changes would you make to BV?

I'll start --- I'd apply stricter control of the Community Boards and no longer allow any anti-BV posts or bad seller posts that could give BV a bad impression to new site viewers.

Other suggestions or observations?

I wouldn't say that at all, I'd most likely give them their due credit.

Bidville's search feature isn't up to what I think a auction service search engine should be. Another service I won't name employs the title or title and descriptive searches and I utilize that and find it much more powerful. It's a feature I think they should add.

auctionace I'd apply stricter control of the Community Boards and no longer allow any anti-BV posts or bad seller posts that could give BV a bad impression to new site viewers.

I'm not sure if you're being serious or a subtle joke has gone over my head. Couldn't any criticism be viewed as an "anti-BV post," by some?

I was at BV soon after it started and my take on what happened with the lack of a description search was that it was a painful mistake made by Ed Orlando's rookie programming skills, something similar to a surgeon leaving a sponge in the patient during an operation. Once the site filled up with auctions and the mistake was realized it was far too late to add the function with deleting everything and starting over.

I was serious about the large amount of posts at BV that cast BV in a bad light. The amount of posts in general is not that large anymore at BV and with a few announcement posts and temporary suspensions I think the problem can be fixed. BV is not a democracy but rather a privately owned business venture. The rules are their rules not the US Constitution.
