I don't know about a hoax, Zelda. I think maybe it was spawned as a joke but has now become the number one source of excitement in the jokester's life. Problem is, it's not funny. I didn't think the things that were said about Maui last night were funny (although Maui handled the situation admirably). And I don't think this thread is funny either.
This thread is a classic attempt at trying to get the people here to turn on one another. One poster claims that someone is harrassing them via e-mail (something none of us can verify), but doesn't name the poster. Then they leave the thread to let suspicions fester until it becomes a fullblown witchhunt.
I think it's b-u-l-l-s-h-i-t and I hope the Moderators do something about it soon.

I didn't know we were allowed to use the word b-u-l-l-s-h-*-t.
I'm glad to see it's o.k.
I think it's all b-u-l-l-s-h-*-t too!
Bullhockey just doesn't seem a strong enough word, so I didn't bother.
Artdoggy needs to learn when enough is enough. It stopped being fun - so quit trying to squeeze it for one more drop. It's not working and you're starting to look a little pitiful.

I'm not much of a lyric poster but this song has been running through my head today. There's something about long holiday weekends on these messageboards....
KatyD
Heartache Tonight(Eagles)
Somebody's gonna hurt someone, (somebody)
Before the night is through
Somebody's gonna come undone,
There's nothin' we can do
(Everybody) Everybody wants to touch somebody
if it takes all night
Everybody wants to take a little chance
To make it come out right
There's gonna be a heartache tonight
A heartache tonight, I know
There's gonna be a heartache tonight,
A heartache tonight ,I know
Let's go.
We can beat around the bushes;
we can get down to the bone
We can leave it in the parkin' lot,
but either way, there's gonna be a
heartache tonight, a heartache tonight I know.
There'll be a heartache tonight
a heartache tonight I know.

Maui, dontcha hate it when you just can't get a tune out of your head? Perhaps it's some psychic episode I'm having, a portent of things to come. Not a full moon tonight, is it?

agreeing with spaz, I am!
I though he/she manifestoed out of here yesterday but it seems it got even worse after that.
Like - I'm gone but oh wait - let me yank a few more chains before I bury this id for a while.
I have a feeling it will play itself out now that the "love interest" is gone.

spaz, sorry I did not see Maui's thread. Hope it was not too bad, as I know how sensitive she is..... I see a rather flamboyant and irresponsible person enjoying all of this. But why give into them?...... Do you think people at AW are that easily misled? I choose not to take any of this too seriously. It is not uncommon to feed the public " outrageous exaggerated stories",especially on chatboards....It's up to us, if we want to believe these stories.

All I am saying is:
These guessing games discuss the poster and not the topic and issue.
Soon management will grow weary. These games are beecoming tiresome. And everyone knows what happens next...

KatyD, try "We Are the Champions." Should help rout that loser tune.
Spaz is right, about turning people against each other. This has been deeply "disruptive," and in my view, deliberately so. I say sod them and the servers they rode in on. I didn't see the thread, but if artdoggy referenced maui's business site, feedback, and name, she tore up the rulebook. That stuff about "binge" is pure malice, and maui surely did not have any of that coming to her. I think we're being asked to pay much too high a price for a little scat sideshow and attempted ribaldry. The dogg has had its day, and it's time she joined her "master" on EZstreet.

What is the meaning of this? Am I already the subject of your unhealthy guessing games?
Am I committing some board crime by seeing the trouble your guessing games have caused?
Am I too new a poster to comment? You have no idea how long I have lurked.

To your credit, "Doctor," I appreciate seeing a properly disclosive name for once. "Keloid" it certainly is.
I think AW's more likely to ban registrations using free email accounts before they ban guessing games, but that's JMO.

What happened last night is that Maui innocently posted a thread about a trip to Ireland. Within five minutes artdoggy posted a thread called "New Weight Loss Clinic Opens In Ireland," and went on to say how her aunt lost 400 pounds at a new clinic and how if you're going there you might want to check it out, it's called the BLARNY LARD INN ...
It was malicious and cruel. I give MichelleG lots of credit for WOMDing the thread and for handing artdoggy a formal warning.

Forgot to mention that after opening the "Weight Loss' thread, artdoggy opened another thread within minutes called "Creative Woman Creates Clothes Out of Bedsheets." It got WOMD before I was able to read it. After that artdoggy opened the still-standing "Elves" thread.

Wrong you are, pearaueq.
This site will continue to allow freemail accounts.
What will stop is your little game of "Guess Who The Poster Is"!
It is Rude, it discusses the poster and not the topic, and it deserves to be a moderate-able sin.

I used to love reading the threads on AW Round table.
Some times it was like a really good enlightening interview on Charlie Rose (PBS) often it would get kind ,informative and familiar like a good Oprah episode but lately...lately someone has changed the channel to Jerry Springer and I can't seem to find the clicker.
Ever the optimist,I think I will try again later.

Hello. I am not a girl, and you are not me. You say you are not Linda. The point is you shouldn't have to say these things.
It is rude of other posters to say you are me. No one wants to be me, I can assure you of that.
It discusses the poster and not the post. It is a violation of the rules of this site.

We're freethinkers here, Keloidus Rex. If you want to control what people say, you have to create your own board. Then you get to make up the rules, like "Comments are okay. No opinions." Things like that. And you can lock and delete threads at whim, capture the posters' IPs, even notify their employers if you think they're getting out of line. Betcha you'd like that. Why don't you look into it?
