This thread reminds me of a debate I saw on Buckley's "Crossfire" show years ago. He had on David Dellums and the crowd was packed with Dellums cohorts. Every sentence Dellums made brought forth great choruses of praise AND a instant correction by Buckley about Dellums' fractured "facts". This guy could barely spell his name right. He told Buckley almost half a dozen times in response to Buckley's corrections that he "didn't have his facts and figures with him".
The next day I overheard some people talking about how Dellums took Buckley to the woodshed.
It is natural for most people to operate on the principal of "it sounds good, it must be true", or to support the stupidest utterrances of someone sharing their views. But even if Chairman Mao was scoring, Buckley won the debate by a country mile.
It always makes me laugh when certain posters here yell at me for not being "nice".
Well, they must have been revered in their college political science course, or in some cases 8th grade study hall, but to someone whose education is engineering, etc, the absolute leaps of illogic joined together are indeed incredible.

there's no accent mark on comprende. A better way to put it would be żme entiendes? 'comprende' is like something out of an old western or something. Gabachos using the language all wrong. As with English, there are two verbs; comprehend (comprender) and understand (entender). Comprender means to grasp and have basic understanding of a concept or idea, an abstraction. Entender, on the other hand, means to understand a direct communication. Butcher your own language, not somebody else's.

You're not correct Colin. After graduating with an International Baccalaureate High School Diploma from the Instituto Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico, I earned scholarships and paid the rest of my way by working while going to school through 1) a bachelor of science degree in Anthropology at the University of New Mexico, 2) A Master of Science degree in Anthropology at the University of Arizona. My Master's thesis was on the cultural basis of religion. I then took a dual Master's in Elementary and Secondary Education from Arizona State University in Tempe. Since then I have completed an Education Specialist's degree (Ed.S.) in curriculum and instruction, with emphasis on T.E.S.O.L., Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I completed this coursework online through the University of Arizona, due to the constraints of running a full time family business and also serving as head teacher, Dean of Students and curriculum chairman for my school for the last 20+ years. The only degree I ever received that I didn't pay for was the same one you got free, my preacher's license.
