Spaz is giving you good advice, mybiddness. And I don't think you posted to be offensive, of course, but to be funny. It's still sad and tacky, and it belongs on a private email list, not a public forum.
I'll let you have on with your own grits, thanks all the same.

Hi ya rawbunzel! yep fog today.... wow summer went by fast, course I always say that this time of year!
And so I am told... this winter may be cooooold, since the summer was kinda unusually warm..... stacking firewood....now just need to fix the woodstove LOL!!

Shelly, It has been a fast year so far. It seems like it was just New Years Day! Been funny this summer. Got pretty hot but still the tomatoes have had a hard time getting ripe and I don't think we hit our traditional three days over 90 degrees. The vine maples are already turning color so it is going to be an early winter! I am hoping not too cold, oil heat and all that! I need a wood stove!
posted on September 7, 2000 11:59:36 AM
Sure felt like over 90 on some days!
Actually we have oil heat too, I like oil heat, where I can actually see how much $ upfront is going into the tank, as opposed to those surprising electric bills if you have electric heat. A woodstove does help though, either way!

Then again, maybe you don't need to have the thread locked. Just sit by and wait until it turns into "Alternative Fuel Chat."

Derailing can be fun and useful, Spaz!
Shelly, I like to see how much goes into the tank as well. I can adjust my "comfort level" by adding more clothes if necessary to save on fuel. Gonna be pricey this year! AND I forgot to fill up during the summer when it is cheaper!
Fog is starting to burn off here.Going to be a lovely, cool day!

LOL spazmodeus-I didn't mean to go OT from mybiddness thread....... BUT ok what kind of heating do you have! my previous house had oil, but, then it heated these water pipes throughout the house, (this was an old 'cape cod' style house!) then heated radiators throughout.
rawbunzel I don't mind the fog, I don't mind the rain! I love the snow, IF we'd only get some!
oh yeah fuel is cheaper if you get it in the summer, I never remember either!
posted on September 7, 2000 01:16:17 PMTell me, are SOME of your best friends members of any of the groups that you've so eloquently described?
Guess I raised a few hackles when I pointed out some bigoted ideas about ethnic groups other than rednecks, eh, krs?
I find all those generalizations offensive - and held in some quarters as common knowledge (watch the insults thrown in an argument and you'll see what people really think). And that was my point. Take the same list, substitute another ethnic group, and use some other "funny" generalizations, and people find it disgusting. Can you say "double standard"?
I don't think there's anything amusing about jokes directed at "them," whoever "they" may be. It's not an issue of lightening up. It's an issue of good taste. Jeff Foxworthy? Hey, "everybody" thought Stepin' Fetchit was just hilarious - and completely inoffensive. All in fun, right? And after all, they're making fun of their own people, so obviously it's OK.
Thanks for pointing out the incest/molestation "jokes," pareau. "Sad" doesn't begin to describe it.

It's sad that the PC police are stretching tentacles into everything. Pretty soon even discussing the weather will be off-limits--might upset those who live in hurricane or tornado country, you know....

HartCottageQuilts,
I don't know where you get the idea that 'redneck' is an ethnic grouping. The term simply describes a middle American stereotype of a person with short hair and a way of life characterized by simple, basic, and somewhat oldfashioned beliefs.
So old fashioned, in fact, that I've no doubt that many rednecks proud of that description would be deeply offended by your discriminatory grouping of them as a racial grouping along with hispanics, blacks, asians, and any others you care to compare them with.

Shelly,I am trying not to turn on the heat until the end of this month. Stubborn! Today I am bundled up in my sweats and I am still cold so may have to reconsider!

LOL rawbunzel I know I shouldn't turn on the heat, but it does seem to be getting chillier now, I do notice the leaves changing.
And is it a rule here that it has to rain on Halloween?
posted on September 7, 2000 02:03:21 PM
Why Shelly, I do believe there is a rule that it has to rain on Halloween as well as the Fourth of July. Also Memorial Day, Thanksgiving and ,of course ,Christmas!
You know how to tell the change of seasons here don't you? The rain gets warmer in the summer! [hope no one is offended by my little Washington joke!]
edited because it is Thanks not thnaks!

posted on September 7, 2000 02:17:07 PMjt: In the PC worldview, nothing must offend or upset *anyone.* They are getting more nitpicking every day, too. It is getting so bad that I certainly wouldn't be surprised if one was to be censured for extolling the lovely weather they are experiencing while others are in the middle of hurricane, tornado or monsoon seasons. My goodness, that could/would make such people feel bad! T

Careful there, Rawbunzel! There are some poor unfortunates in the world who are born with webbed feet or hands. Your statement *could* be taken as hurtful by such folk, or seen as derogatory toward such by others....

Thank you for pointing out my gross PC error Bunnicula! I will appologize to any who may be offended. Also to anyone who is offended because we are having the cool weather that Shelly and I have been discussing while they may be sweltering in the 100 degree weather .
The thing is...we DO have a lot of people who think we all have webbed feet here. What can I do to change their thinking? Post a photo of my feet? No, that would surely offend some people. What to do, What to do...
posted on September 7, 2000 02:32:44 PMRawbunzel: What to do? Why, think "beige." Use no language that denotes gender, ethnicity, age, any physical attributes such as weight or hair color, affiliation with any political or religious group, marital status or income bracket in any conversation. Refer to nothing that might cause anyone on the planet & most especially within the U.S. the slightest angst--this means you must examine any proposed speech before you utter it for anything that might even vaguely be twisted into being slighting, deragatory or hurtful to *any* person or group of persons on said planet and/or country. Then, and only then, will you left alone by the PC police. Maybe.

I have never understood why the East coast gets to be the "right" coast! It DOES depend on the direction you are facing!I don't think they are always right! If you are facing south they are the left coast and then we are right! Sometimes it is fun to be right,no?
edited to add to Bunnicula...
I DO NOT LIKE BEIGE!!! I like bright and splashy colors..please do not force me into a beige world. I would not like it ,no I wouldn't!!

Some guy on another bb (not AW) always told me he was the right coast (East Coast) I told him, hey! turn that map of yours upside down, sideways whatever, and you'll see, I'll be on the right coast then!
Beige? everywhere? boring... I like color too! (course due to our gray weather here we need color! )
