Fenix, I 'half-watched' Inventor this time. Mary Lou is way too dramatic for my taste and somehow the show seems like the judges have their comments scripted and hyped too much before the viewer sees it so the reality is somewhat lacking to me. None of the inventions grab me either.
If nothing else is on I may watch it again. So that means I'm not hooked yet, right?

Not yet. I love that this is "from the mind of Simon Cowell". Show with the same premise was on USA network. The winner was a member of the San Diego Chargers and a friend of his that came up with a set of football shoulder pads that had a water bladder in it with a straw that led up to the front to allow player to take in liquids during long practices or games without having to leave the field. They got a distribution contract with QVC or HSN (don't remember which one now).
It was interesting because they went thru all of the steps involved each week. the experts would give advice on changes the product needed to go thru, it would be put thru safety tests, they had to design packaging, do focus group evaluations, create marketing campaigns, etc. If they do the same thing with this it could be interesting so I am hagning in.
I agree with you on Mary Lou. Should THE guru of womens marketing cry at the drop of a hat and be a sucker for a sob story?

American Idol....
Everyone was um...um... well they were...ahhhh...
Mandisa was really good.
I don't get Simon. One week he tells Chris that he respects that he sticks to his guns and does not compromise and the next week he gives him hell for staying in a single style. Chris rocked the Creed song and the people that like Chris are going to love that performance.

Lisa ........ silly of her trying to compete with a previous idol's hit and her makeup was terrible. She will be booted next.
Kellie was okay.
Ace sang one of my favorite songs and I thought he sounded great but the judges didn't seem to get it.... gotta luv that trembling hand of his, lol
Really liked Taylor tonight....... he knew his song!
I thought Mandisa was terrible tonight. I didn't like the song at all though she could really sing it and what was that thing in her back pocket that drew attention to her big butt?
Chris was good but maybe too much of a rocker to be an Idol?
Katharine sounds the same to me all the time..... pretty and almost perfect..... no surprises there so YAWN.
Bucky was okay like Kellie was okay.
I know Paris was good but I just didn't get it and have to agree with Simon's assessment of her.
Elliot...... I agree he's one funky white boy with hideous dancing........ hahahaha

Kiara - the thing in Mandisas back is either the transmitter for the mic or the reciever for the ear piece (ever notice there are no monitors on the Idol stage).
I had never heard Aces song, or Taylors. Maybe that's why I could not get into them. I thought Paris was aannoying as well and Lisa is just done. The girl has no charisma, there is nothing about her that makes you want to like her and overlook her faults and she puts no personality into songs. I think we'll be saying bye bye Lisa tomorrow.
Checking out Thief tonight on FX. Andre Brougher and Yancy Arias.. what's not to like?

Mark and I thought it was just us.....
No one really stood out last night. I thought the band was drowning out a few. I liked Taylor (of course), Bucky, and Mandisa.
For me, the next is a toss-up of Lisa (I so thought she would shine in this competition) and Ace (the more I see him, the less I like him).
Funny, I can watch Bucky now, but I cannot watch Elliott.
I liked Chris...we listen to that sometimes, but his song this week was too "hard" for THIS forum.

Last night was the first night I really liked Ace but it was because of the song Drops of Jupiter by Train and I think it's a beautiful song ...... has strange lyrics with many interpretations.
After this many weeks I expected more from almost all of the contestants though.

I was totally disappointed with the majority of them last night. I liked Taylor and Chris. They are my favorites. Among the girls I don't have a favorite. I really don't care for any all that much.
I think Lisa will be the next to get the boot.

Paula babbled incohenertly... something about dialing for two hours, Randy gave meningless platitudes about picking the right song. Simon was the only one that nailed it. When he watched the playback of the show, she was not good.
I don't honestly think that Ace is going to be able to pull off a country song. but then I don't Katherine will do all that well either but without performmances yet, I'd say I think Ace is going. We'll see what happens after the show. I think Paris is going to have some problems with country as well.
BTW - I think te final cut of the season will come after the finale... when Paula is fired. Problem is that possible replacements that hae been discussed include Britney and Jessica Simpson. I can't say that I see either as an improvement.

Twig - there is something very uncomfortable about watching Elliott. I don't know what it is but I don't like watching the guy either.

Twig, I don't click this thread until I've watched Idol so it doesn't matter to me if you comment right after you see it.
No surprise that Lisa went but I was surprised and kind of happy to see Katherine standing there, maybe others find her as boring as I do. I was glad that Bucky wasn't at the bottom and maybe he will gain more ground next week. Elliot's singing is okay and I want to like him but he is hard to watch........ kind of reminds me of a monkey in a way.
