Bush Faces Growing Dissent From Republicans on Climate Change

April 24 (Bloomberg) -- Representative Bob Inglis, a South Carolina Republican, says he ``pooh-poohed'' global warming until he trekked to the South Pole in January.
``Now, I think we should be concerned,'' says Inglis, who heads the U.S. House Science Research subcommittee. ``There are more and more Republicans willing to stop laughing at climate change who are ready to get serious about reclaiming their heritage as conservationists.''
U.S. companies including General Electric Co. and Duke Energy Corp. have come out in support of national limits on carbon dioxide and other greenhouse-gas emissions that scientists say contribute to global warming. They are now being joined by Republican lawmakers who have parted company with President George W. Bush on the issue.
In addition to Inglis, who says he saw evidence of heat- trapping gases in the atmosphere during his trip to Antarctica, the list includes Senators Pete Domenici of New Mexico, the chairman of the chamber's Energy Committee; Mike DeWine of Ohio; and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, as well as Representative Jim Leach of Iowa.
``Resistance to action on climate change is crumbling,'' says Reid Detchon, an Energy Department official under former President George H.W. Bush who is now head of energy and climate at the United Nations Foundation. ``The business community has a number of prominent leaders arguing for action, and the science on climate change becomes clearer and more inescapable by the day.''

Tis interesting that the framers of the U.S. CONSTITUTION got into much trouble with their contemporaneous Bible-thumpers because they SPECIFICALLY excluded ANY reference to a HIGHER BEING in the CONSTITUTION, but rather boldly stated (for that historical period) that power devolved & rested in..."WE, THE PEOPLE..."
If ya actually read the CONSTITUTION & BILL OF RIGHTS, there (NOT accidentally) is NO mention of any supernatural beings anywhere...VERY BRAVE on their part, and proves that they were VERY dedicated to the SEPARATION OF CHURCH & STATE!
Now, THAT"S sumptin to THANK GOD for...

As I said before, it's common to have grow-ops all over North America. Perhaps you should become informed about what is happening in your own back yard, Libra63.
Did you realize that Wisconsin ranked 5th among all states for indoor marijuana growing a few years ago? Check out some of the University towns perhaps. These are older stats and it has most likely increased since then as it has everywhere else.
Local marijuana availability is increasing because of advances in both indoor and outdoor growing techniques and because domestic marijuana is being cut with Mexican-produced marijuana to extend the supply through the year. Wisconsin rural areas provide many opportunities for cannabis cultivation, and there has been an increase in indoor grow operations. State law enforcement officials and seven county sheriffs stated that indoor grow operations were on the rise, and the number of plants seized in indoor grow operations statewide increased, from 2,979 in 1997 to 3,858 in 1999. Indoor grows produce marijuana with a much higher THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) content, increasing the drug's potency and desirability.

Then you came back with your silly remark today that B.C. should clean them up so that is 'recent' in my world. You addressed me so I was just trying to inform you that you have a similar problem about marijuana growing where you live.
BTW, when you departed on your self-imposed exile did you use your time to grow an even bigger chip on your shoulder than the one you left with?

Fenix I don't agree. I do think most teachers are liberals. Teachers are unionized and follow the leaders of their union. Which are liberals. Teachers don't bend to help all they do is complain. Teachers are hired to do a job and should not put their perspective in the class. They are supposed to teach the curriculum and I find that most teachers, yes I said most, don't do that. All they worry about is their pay and their benefits. Now don't get me wrong all teachers are not like that but most are. The school boards are geared to those teachers. You never see teachers voting until the school board election and then they come and vote the person most likely to follow their agenda so they can get what they want. I wish I had been a teacher. They have good salaries, GREAT benefits a very good retirement and they dress like crap. They were dressing so bad here the administration had implement a dress code. They were dressing worse that the students. If they can't control their classroom then that is their fault and nobody elses. Teachers don't get respect because they don't give respect to the tax payer. The people that pay their salary.

Face it Libra63 the religious backed conservative right wing form of republican government you supported had it all. Since that movement has exposed itself for being Anti-American and has failed so miserably.
