Paul McHale, the assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense, asked officials this week to come up with options for the use of military resources and troops - particularly the National Guard - along the border with Mexico, according to defense officials familiar with the discussions. The officials, who requested anonymity because the matter has not been made public, said there are no details yet on a defense strategy.

NOW THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE CAUGHT ON TO THE CONSERVATIVE LIES AND TRICKS. THE CROOKED CONSERVATIVES LAWMAKERS ARE TRYING TO CONVINCE US THEY HAVE THE ANSWERS. HA ALL THEY HAVE IS MORE LIES AND TRICKS.

Don't worry so much about polls there are lots of them. I will make sure I keep you advised on the latest poll results. But I am afraid that with few exceptions you won't like their results.
I noticed you didn't dispute or disagree with AOL findings about our southern borders and the millions of illegals in America.
It just might be that by the time November gets here, you and Ron will be so disgusted with the G.O.P. crooks you will come on over to our side.
I see one G.O.P. crook Tom DeLie is out of power as of June 6th. I am going to have my wife light a candle at church for that one. Maybe by then 2 candles one for ROVE also.

O.K. I will use these words to describe Bear and Ron. They are both two faced liars.
These fools worries about my AOL polls when millions of ILLEGALS are pouring into the U.S. across our wide open southern border. A border that the conservative lawmakers did nothing about for years.
I am sure you remember when all the neocons including Bear and Ron defended the conservatives for not doing anything about our WIDE open southern borders. They were saying it was just fine letting millions of mostly Mexicans in the U.S. They tried to say we needed them here to "do jobs Americans won't do" BULL ROAR

Just look at American Coal miners and American commercial fisherman. There is no harder or more dangerous jobs but Americans do both and get paid well for doing them.

I don't recall anyone here saying Mexico is a military threat, except for the 68% of people who responded to the poll.
I am a Republican, and I've never been in favor of rights for illegal aliens. Send them back. If there weren't so many illegals, it might be easier for a legal influx of others.
If they are legal, green card carrying "other-than-US-nationals", they're OK. Welcome with open arms.

I will be watching and the only way he can do it will be to declare a state of emergency along the border. It will be interesting to see if he is actually willing to go that far or just a plea to the Governors of the Border states to send the National Guard?
Arnold has already said he probably will not send any Cali national guard, so what will the President do then?

Wrong.....Govenors of those states can order National Guard troops to mobolize with those states for any purpose they want.
Under Bush's proposal, formed in consulation with border-state governors who command the National Guard, Border Patrol agents would maintain primary responsibility for physically guarding the border. National Guard soldiers will not perform law enforcement duties, but will help in such areas as construction, surveillance and transportation, Snow said.

NG are under state control and governors have the authority to activate units for local duty.
Under the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, it is ILLEGAL to use the military of the United States within the country's borders unless the President or Congress declares a state of emergency FIRST.
I believe the only time this was violated was when General Funston ordered troops into SF after the 1903 earthquake. Even at that, the commander of the garrison said "Tell that newspaper man (Funston's prev. profession) that only the President can order troops into a US city." The captain carrying the dispatch roused the troops under his own initiative and nother was ever really done about it afterward.
