Bear, I guess you can pretend that nothing bad is happening when all you read are extreme right-wing sites. After all, they don't report it and none of the returning coffins are ever seen nor are the deaths or injuries or mental problems or health issues ever discussed by the government. Out of sight, out of mind, right?

I've said it many time and I'll say it again. All the negative publicity pumped out by the left controlled media is playing into support for the terrorists.

They are feeding and feeling empowered on that negative publicity thus strengthening their resolve to win.

Just like the Viet anti war movement ultimately led to the US from withdrawing from Viet Nam and it aided the N Vietnamese by strengthening their resolve.

And strangely it is only the anti war people who think we are fighting a losing war. If the war is lost in Iran, where will the terrorists strike again?

I'd be willing to bet the entire US would become a greater target since these same terrorists are not being drawn to a central fighting arena like Iraq & Afghanistan

And it is news to Americas fighting men that the war is being lost. Also, strangely only since the letter networks reporters stopped accompanying the troops in the field has it been reported the war is being lost.

NCOs Note Differences Between What They See and What They Hear
By Jim Garamone
American Forces Press Service

CAMP LIBERTY, Iraq, May 10, 2006 – It's the e-mails and calls from home that gave the soldiers of the 4th Infantry Division their first clue that something is becoming different about the will of the American people.

"All this time I thought we were winning," said a sergeant first class sarcastically. "Seems folks back home have already run up the white flag."

Some 4th Infantry Division noncommissioned officers were discussing the flood of e-mails they receive from family members and friends about the constant danger they are facing in Iraq. Though they asked not to be identified by name for this article, the NCOs said they believe the news media highlight explosions and murders over any sign of progress in Iraq.

"I see progress every time I go outside the wire," said a platoon sergeant. "Just look at the progress the Iraqi army has made."

The NCOs, many with years of infantry experience, said the Iraqi army has made tremendous strides since standing up just two years ago. The difference between the Iraqi National Guard that first stood up in the aftermath of the fall of Saddam Hussein and today's Iraqi army is night and day, said an NCO who served with the 101st Airborne Division in 2003's initial combat in Iraq.

He said the old Iraqi military hardly even fired its weapons. "We joked that the safest place to be was where they were aiming," he said.

But today's Iraqi army has developed the professional warrior ethos needed to be an effective fighting force. The men said the Iraqi NCOs are taking charge of their units and tending to 'NCO business.'

"In the old army, being an NCO just meant you were paid more," said an NCO. Now the Iraqi NCOs are serious about training their troops and ensuring they are cared for.

One NCO spoke about an incident in Baghdad that the Iraqi army handled without any help from the coalition. "There was a (car bomb) attack and the Iraqis handled it," he said. The Iraqi soldiers rushed to the scene, delivered aid to those wounded, cordoned off the area and searched it for other threats, and secured the site while Iraqi police conducted the investigation.

This is not to say there aren't problems, the NCOs said. While the Iraqi army has made tremendous progress, the Iraqi police - especially the local police - have a long way to go. But they're continuing to make progress, the NCOs said.

The special police units - now called the national police - are almost as professional as the military, the NCOs said. And the young recruits to the local police understand what is required of them and have embraced the training. "If that continues when they get on the street is the test," an NCO said.

These NCOs are not ready to leave Iraq, and they resent suggestions that they aren't doing good in this war-weary country.

"I have yet to speak to (an American) here who thinks we're losing," an NCO said. "Trust me. (No soldier) wants to be here, but no one wants to cut and run either."

"Leaving would just send the wrong signal to our enemies," he said.

Bear,
The Iraq War updates I post daily are all true. The dead and wounded numbers are released by the U.S. Government.

If you want I can always say the U.S. Government says 2448 American are now dead.

The U.S. Government says 17869 of American Troops have been wounded. So people like you don't think the numbers are from left wing media sources.

The COVER UP by this government about the Iraq War are no different from the lies a lot of us heard about Vet Nam from a different U.S. Government.

You got to admit that DUMBO BUSH AND SHOOTER CHENEY have continually told the American people lies about the progress being made in Iraq.

The only difference is a lot of us are hip to Government Lies much faster now. It doesn't take Government Troops shooting a bunch of unarmed Kent State College kids in Ohio to wake people up to the BUSH CHENEY LIES.

COME JOIN THE GREAT AMERICAN PROTEST ON NOVEMBER 7th 2006.

The tape was released because other wacko's, like peepa, out there have been claiming that NO plane hit the Pentagon. They had their own wacko conspiracies.

SO....Judicial Watch went to court to get the tapes to disprove THE wacko's nonsense. They did.

Now only the one's that need to be committed to a mental institute would believe it wasn't a plane.

Disclaimer.....that might STILL include peepa. lol

Yes, bear....just ANOTHER article about how our troops see the successes they're making in Iraq vs what the anti-war, MSM liberal lying media reports.

They stay in their safety zone where they can't see a thing that goes on.....but they know it ALL. ROFLOL

And I agree....they ARE doing EXACTLY what they did in the VN conflict. Aiding and abetting our enemies. Nice. NOT!!!

But this President has said we're staying until either Iraq asks us to leave, we see that the Iraqi army CAN defend themselves or the next President is elected in 2009.

Thank God this President is in office rather than these anti/un Americans.

It appears they think this terrorism issue will all just go away if we bring our troops home.

They're blind to the threat our Nation faces. Totally blind.

he Iraq War updates I post daily are all true. The dead and wounded numbers are released by the U.S. Government.

Yet the manner in which you post those figures is as misleading as is the norm for the left.

You fail to differentiate the KIA deaths (1926) and deaths (522) from non hostile action. You also fail to note those that are wounded and return to duty within 72 hours (9786) from those that do not return to duty (8302) within 72 hours. (Figures as of 05/17/2006)

http://www.defenselink.mil/news/casualty.pdf

California homicides in 2003 (2402) exceded the total number of American KIA deaths in all of the Iraqi war. It is still safer for US troops in Iraq that US citizens living in California.

Well sheepa, if we pull out of Iraq due to cowards like you, it would only be fitting if the first strike the terrorists make in the US is at your home address.

Illegal War? Hardly. It was authorized by several UN decelerations, or is your memory failing like your eyesite & hearing.

PS. No comment about California been more deadly than Iraq.

On Iraq and WMD: Did the president lie?
Larry Elder

Can one make the case that President George W. Bush "lied" or "misled" or intentionally "mischaracterized" the intelligence on Iraq and WMD in order to lead us to war? Sure, if one possesses a visceral anti-Bush mindset coupled with a willingness to ignore powerful arguments in favor of the war:

-- Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski, during a press conference last week, said "Many months before (the) Iraqi action, I met (the) predecessor of (chief U.N. weapons inspector) Hans Blix in Warsaw. . . . He told me (a) very important thing: that Saddam had these weapons or is ready to produce these weapons. Because to have such (an) impression that he has mass destruction weapons is a part of his doctrine, to keep . . . power in Iraq and to be strong in the region. So I think it's very difficult today to judge how it was when he . . . decided to continue this project of mass destruction weapons. . . . Absolutely, Iraq is ready to produce if it's necessary to keep the power of and dictatorship of Saddam and to play such (an) important role in the region."

-- In October 2003, months after the Iraq war began, former President Bill Clinton visited Portuguese Prime Minister Jose Manuel Durao Barroso. Durao Barroso said, "When Clinton was here recently he told me he was absolutely convinced, given his years in the White House and the access to privileged information which he had, that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction until the end of the Saddam regime."

-- French President Jacques Chirac, in February 2003, spoke about "the probable possession of weapons of mass destruction by an uncontrollable country, Iraq," noting "the international community is right . . . in having decided that Iraq should be disarmed."

-- Former Clinton CIA director R. James Woolsey, in a Wall Street Journal article, made several points -- that Saddam possibly intentionally misled the world into thinking he still possessed WMD to keep his status as a power player in the region; that stockpiles of WMD possibly remained only to be destroyed at the last minute; that WMD-related material "probably" entered Syria months before the war; that Iraq admitted making 8,500 liters (8.5 tons) of anthrax, which if reduced to powder, could fill a dozen easily portable suitcases; and that "Iraq's ties with terrorist groups in the '90s are clear," with a decade worth of connections between Iraq and al Qaeda, "including training in poisons, gases, and explosives."

-- Weapons hunter David Kay, testifying before the Senate Armed Services Committee, said that based on the pre-war intelligence, Saddam Hussein posed "a gathering, serious threat to the world." Hussein's scientists possibly misled the former dictator into believing Iraq possessed WMD, with the scientists possibly misappropriating funds. Kay also said that, based on his investigation, Iraq posed an even greater danger than previously thought.

-- Former President Bill Clinton on Dec. 16, 1998, stated, "Other countries possess weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles. With Saddam, there is one big difference: He has used them. Not once, but repeatedly. Unleashing chemical weapons against Iranian troops during a decade-long war. Not only against soldiers, but against civilians, firing Scud missiles at the citizens of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Iran. And not only against a foreign enemy, but even against his own people, gassing Kurdish civilians in Northern Iraq. . . . I have no doubt today, that left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will use these terrible weapons again. . . . "

-- Former President Clinton, in an appearance on "Larry King Live" on July 22, 2003, said, " . . . (I)t is incontestable that on the day I left office, there were unaccounted for stocks of biological and chemical weapons. We might have destroyed them in '98. We tried to, but we sure as heck didn't know it because we never got to go back there."

The near pathological contempt so many hold for President Bush clouds their ability to put themselves in the commander-in-chief's shoes. On Sept. 11, in America, over 3,000 people lost their lives. Meanwhile, Saddam Hussein continued to defy United Nations Security Council resolutions to come clean. He flouted the U.N.-sponsored Oil-for-Food program, diverting the money from its intended purpose.

Critics quite properly accuse the U.S. intelligence community for failing to connect the dots and thus prevent 9/11. After the first Gulf War in 1991, the advanced nature of Saddam Hussein's nuclear weapons program shocked intelligence analysts. Nuclear bomb testing in India and Pakistan came as a surprise, as did the advanced nature of Iran's and Libya's WMD programs. By all means, the U.S. intelligence failures call for serious soul-searching, and possibly housekeeping to improve accuracy.

But, in the case of pre-war Iraq, the president's critics suggest the following: Cross your fingers, hope for the best, and run the risk of another attack on American soil, this time possibly with chemical or biological weapons. No, the president acted upon the best available information and properly discharged his responsibility as commander-in-chief.

Rumsfeld: Troop Reduction in Iraq Unlikely in 2006

All Things Considered, May 17, 2006 · It may not be possible to reduce U.S. troop levels in Iraq this year, according to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld's testimony before a Senate committee. In addition, Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told the same committee it will be months before any Iraqi army units are ready to operate completely on their own.

FACE IT BECAUSE OF POOR CIVILIAN PLANNING AND LEADERSHIP OUR TROOPS WILL CONTINUE TO DIE AND BE WOUNDED IN IRAQ FOR A LONG TIME.
