Thank you, roadsmith, for perfectly describing my neighborhood. That nonsence may be acceptable in Mexico, but it is NOT acceptable here. This is not Mexico. I'm tired of putting up with it. When I first moved in here eight years ago, it was a nice, quiet family oriented neighborhood. Now it's just a slum. I certainly didn't make it that way and neither did my long-time neighbors. We have worked tirelessly at keeping our homes looking nice. It's all most of us have.

We can argue all night long about the economic ramifications of illegal immigration. There isn't a whole lot of proof for either side's position.
The bottom line is this: A critical mass has been reached in the almost exponential growth of the latino population in this country. The solution to this problem, for those who are afraid of the cultural shift that is about to be in full swing here is simple. Have more babies.

I think you are going to find that a more hostile environment will surface toward hispanics. Maybe even some bloodshed before all is said and done, mostly because our congressional representatives lack the backbone to do what needs to be done.
I'm sorry to say that I have to agree with you on that. I see it more and more around here. I see people looking suspiciously at anyone looking at a house for sale here. I hear comments such as "I've gotta get a gun", as well. I originally moved to this area because of the diversity. Now, it's that same diversity that's going to drive me out.
It's an election year. What needs to be done won't be. They need the hispanic vote.

I have been thinking about that for some time now and I have come to the conclusion that to fight the individual illegals themselves would be futile because they are so many.
The better persons to go after would be the business owners who employ them. No, i'm not talking about bloodshed but rather going after them in a business manner. You could call your local health departments and report restaurants for unclean and unhealthy conditions and they will send out inspectors and if they find anything or if they are sent out enough they will shut them down.
Construction Industry Departments and other state and city departments where licsenses are issued could be called to complain about companies employing illegals. In order to be legally liscensed to do business in most states, it is required that the applicant be in total compliance with all state and federal laws first and that if they lie about their legal status on an application for business licensing then not only is it fraud but it nullifies their business license.
If you really wanna get radical you could call phone companies and utility companies and have business owners phones and utilities shut off. Do it in the winter time and pipes freeze.
These are but a few of the things that I have thought of to do. I'm sure that others can come up with a few more ideas to add to the arsenal of ideas on how to go after business owners.
At the very least it surely couldn't hurt the INS to get a couple of million phone calls a month from angry citizens.

1) If a place has a history of clean positive inspections and the health department gets a call once, they'll probably go out but if they find nothing and continue to get repeated calls, they will ignore them. believe it or not, even they can recognize harassment. They don't care. Their responsibility lies in th safety of building plans and construction, not immigration status. That's what the INS is for.

And apparently you don't know much about the building industry because if you did, you would know that builders, to whom the permits are issued, do not employ laborers. They hire subcontractors and are responsible for the hiring practices of their subs.

And open yourself up to the possibility of criminal prosecution and the near certainty of of civil litigation. Besides,since this is an age old trick employed by bitter ex spouses and boyfriends/girlfriends everywhere, utility companies record the calls and require personal information connected to the business owner before implementing such actions.

As I sat here reading that I thought of all the restaurants here that have made me sick over the past couple of years and there are many.
In your writting style you are attempting to make me out to be some sort of a bigot against Latino's again. That dog don't hunt here and I wish you would give that bullsh*t up once and for all because it just isn't true. I am however totally against people that are here illegally, be they Latino, African, Irish or Polish. It matters not to me what their lineage is.
My dear sweet innocent Fenix, sub-contractors have to be licensed also or didn't you know that and no I don't necessarilly mean just permits. Anyone doing business in any form is required to be licensed and in doing so they must be in total compliance with state and federal laws. Who you call to insist that these laws be enforced is unimportant. What is important is that if you want something done about it then get off your fat ass and start making the calls.
I guess I should have added to the 'radical' thoughts, the terminology, 'if you're so inclined to do so'. It was just a possible suggestion and not a call to arms to actually do it but i'll let others decide for themselves how they want to act on it.

Pii the best thing to do is just call INS, let them start doing their jobs and investigate/capture the criminals.
I plan on calling anytime I feel it is needed. I have encouraged everyone in my family and friends to get the INS on speed dial and you are right start flooding them with calls.

Pi - I did not call call you a racist once. did not even imply it. If you read that into my post, maybe you should ask yourself why you had that reaction.
And yes, a subcontractor depending on their location will have to have a contractor license and a business license but neither have anything to do with the immigration status of employees. That is the responsibility of the INS.

Maybe not in a direct manner but in that post, it was the only time in this thread that you have made a reference to 'Latino's' and it seemed it was done as if I am prejudiced against them, which I am not.
You seem to want to skirt around calling these people what they really are and you are seeking alternatives to what they really are, which the correct terminolgy of them being is ILLEGAL, period, nothing more, nothing less.

My husband and I both work hard for what little we have. My husband is brave soldier in the Army and I myself work several jobs. I work as a receptionist for a dentist office and also have my own independant business owner through Quixtar. In addition, I also work full-time as the proud mother of three wonderful children. Raising them, I have always stressed the importance of living by the rules. But it is difficult because our society tolerates those who disrespect our rules and mooch off honest taxpayers like ourselves.
Like many Americans, my husband and I are disturbed by the invasion of our country by illegal immigrants who steal the jobs of decent, hard-working Americans. It is easy to feel powerless about this since our government cares more about helping FELONS than my family. But it's not hopeless. I'd like to share an experience my family had that proves there ARE things the average citizen can do to show that we will no longer tolerate Mexican CRIMINALS in our country.
On Sundays, my husband and I take our family out to lunch after church. Our favorite place to go is usually the Applebee's (their bacon-cheeseburger is DA BOMB!) but last weekend, for a change of pace, we decided to go to a Mexican restaurant that recently opened up in the shopping center next to the Home Depot. It did not take long for us to realize that we'd made a mistake...
Besides the food being extremely overpriced (it cost seven dollars for a simple beef and bean burrito!) our waitress could barely speak or understand English. It took almost five minutes for my family to order since we had to repeat what we said several times before she understood. In addition to that, she was very lazy. She was very slow whenever we wanted our chips refilled, and completely ignored us when we asked for medium spicy salsa. All three times, the stuff she gave us was too spicy for ANY person to handle. She seemed to do it just to spite us.
The salsa was in fact so hot that it gave me a stomach ache and I had to go to the restroom even before our food arrived. The door to the kitchen was right by the ladies room and as I was walking past, I noticed that all the workers inside were Mexican and speaking spanish. It also looked filthy in there and I noticed that most of the workers were handling the food with their bare hands and weren't even wearing hair nets! I even saw one of those illegal immigrants scratch their armpit before picking up a tortilla that one of my children could have eaten! My stomach lurched when I saw this.
When I returned from the bathroom, our food had FINALLY arrived, but I could barely eat any of it after the filthy food handling I'd witnessed in the kitchen. It upset me even more to know that even if a health inspector came here, this "restaurant" would be exempt from any fines since it was being run by illegal immigrants.
The bill finally came. The total came out to 52 dollars with the tax. We decided to pay cash since we were afraid of giving these people our credit cards. But when it came to figuring out the tip, I took out my pen and wrote this little note on the back of our bill:
"Our family rewards good service. We usually tip no less than 15%. Since our bill was $52, that would come out to a $7.50 tip for serving my family this Sunday.
"Your service was only so-so, but since you are obviously having problems with our language and I will give you the benefit of the doubt and give you the full 15%...
"However, I will be taking out the $14 million a year our country spends on food stamps, government assisted housing, and welfare benefits to your families...
"...in addition to the $20 million a year you steal from our economy to send to your families in Mexico so they don't have to work...
"...add to that the $10 million a year our school systems have to pay to educate your children, who you refuse to teach English as every immigrant in this country who entered before you has had to..."
"...and also the $200 BILLION in taxes you DON'T have to pay to support all these programs you take advantage of...
"So all told, YOU OWE US $2.5 BILLION dollars.
"But don't worry...we'll accept the $7.50 we were going to tip you as a downpayment on that massive debt. Have a nice day!"
As we left that restaurant, it occured to me that if every American did this, perhaps things could start to change. The restaurant industry is one of the main supporters and beneficiaries of illegal immigration, and if everyone started CHARGING illegals for what they steal from this country, we would send a message that we will no longer pay for their welfare, nor support the dilution of our language and culture.
So please forward this e-mail to everyone you know. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Does anyone actually believe that even if the waitress in question spoke not a single word of english that she would not understand amexican food order? Or that she was able to write that diatribe on the back of a 3.5 by 6.5 restaurant check?
Apparently though this woman shares the same ability as Pi to be able to immediately surmise the immigration status of any individual with nothing more than a glance.

To him it must have seemed just a little too nicey nicey between us and true to form he came up with just the right words to set you back on his right track. I prefer to call it that he cajoled you into it but then what do I know, right.
