University: Ward Churchill Committed Research Misconduct

BOULDER, Colo. An investigation of a professor who likened some of the Sept. 11 victims to a Nazi found serious cases of misconduct in his academic research, including plagiarism and fabrications, a University of Colorado spokesman said Tuesday.
One member of the five-person investigative committee recommended that ethnic studies professor Ward Churchill be fired, and four recommended he be suspended, university spokesman Barrie Hartman said.
Churchill, who has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, said the report was contradictory and in some cases false.
"I feel like the process was a pretext" with the eventual goal to fire him, he said.
University officials said they expect to decide Churchill's fate by June 8.
The professor touched off a firestorm with an essay relating the 2001 terrorist attacks to U.S. abuses abroad. The essay referred to some World Trade Center victims as "little Eichmanns," a reference to Adolf Eichmann, who carried out Adolf Hitler's plan to exterminate European Jews during World War II.
University officials had earlier determined Churchill could not be fired for his comments about the terrorist attacks, but they launched an inquiry into allegations about his research.
The committee's 125-page report said Churchill falsified, fabricated and plagiarized some of his research, did not always comply with standards for listing other authors' names and failed to follow accepted practice for reporting results.
Gov. Bill Owens said that Churchill has tarnished the university's reputation and should resign.
Churchill's wife, Natsu Saito, who also teaches in the ethnic studies department, said Tuesday she had resigned her tenured teaching position at the school but said she and Churchill have no plans to leave Boulder.
In her resignation letter, Saito accused the university of reneging on promises to her and the department, ignoring racial harassment of the department and individuals, and treating Churchill unfairly. She said her decision to resign was not prompted by the pending report.

I guess being a seditious traitor isn't all it's cracked up to be. It seems unfair that his WIFE resigned, but she probably agrees with him.

Evidently, 5 out of 5 thought he deserved some sort of reprimand.
What if one of his students has "falsified, fabricated or plagiarized" research for one of their papers? Would they have been suspended? Reprimanded? Or just received a failing grade?

OK Linda- I am calling your bluff. Show us something that Horowitz wrote on Churchhill that predates 2004.
You say he has had him pegged for years so I can't imagine that it would be difficult for you to find an article that supports that statement and does not relate to the uproar that began last year.
Personally i was unable to find anything but since you seem to be such an expert on this subject and on Churchill I'm sure you can find it. I mean, you wouldn't be fabricating facts here would you?

fenix....I'm not surprised YOU couldn't find anything that predates that.
After all...you're a liberal. They don't often seem capable of finding anything for themselves....always wanting others to 'hand deliver' it to them.
Don't be lazy....IF you're interested YOU really CAN type in Ward Churchill in a google search ....all by yourself....there you will find many articles about him and not just from FrontPageMagizine.
I especially loved what he called the 9-11 VICTIMS.....maybe you'll agree with his statement about them deserving their fate. I didn't.
But don't expect me to be doing your research work for you. Don't want to believe me? Fine....liberals rarely believe the truth of anything. Doesn't fit in well with their 'blame America first' agenda.

Oh....so you're admitting that's just too hard for you to type in '1980 ward churchill'....or '1990 ward churchill' and find out the truth for yourself.
And here I thought you were so much more capable than that. Guess not.
I'll call a FRAUD a FRAUD when they are. Ward Churchill has been a FRAUD since the 1980's. They were on to him then....just that nobody cared UNTIL he made his statement about the victims of 9-11.
THEN they became outraged at the one YOU now appear to be DEFENDING as NOT being a fraud.
Figures....defend the illegals who are CRIMINALS in that they break our laws....and now defending a fake professor who is now reaping the consequences of all his lying all these years.
