Not so Colin, try and remember that there are as many Democrats fighting as there are Republicans. The "Left" are not cowards, not at all, they are just more intelligent than the "Right" and know when and where to fight their battles.

The "Left" has been calling for the head of
bin laden and his group, the ones who brought terror to our shores, and would be behind any efforts to get them.

So before you paint the "Left" with that broad brush of yours... think before spewing hatred that continues to divide this wonderful country of ours.

Kiara.. Great Post!

Good photo, Kiara!

That's what you call a little man, as he peers over the podium, intellectually feeble, unable to succeed at anything, overwhelmed by his job and left to display his total incompetence to the entire world.

06/03/06 Reuters: Iraq rejects US probe clearing troops of killings
Iraq vowed on Saturday to press on with its own probe into the deaths of civilians in a U.S. raid on the town of Ishaqi, rejecting the U.S. military's exoneration of its forces.

"Ishaqi is just another reason why we shouldn't trust the Americans," said Abdullah Hussein, an engineer in Baghdad.

"First they lied about the weapons of mass destruction, then there was the Abu Ghraib prison abuse scandal and now it's clear to the world they were guilty in Haditha," he told Reuters.

A tribal leader in Ishaqi said it was clear that U.S. forces were above the law in Iraq.

"We expect the American soldiers to commit any crime to control this country," added Sarhan Jasim, 55.

You are SO right, Colin.

What I hear here from the left is kneel and accept terror and everything will be alright.

That's EXACTLY what they're saying. They know FULL WELL that if we withdraw before the Iraqi's can defend themselves that the terrorists/AQ, binladen, ALL the terrorists will consider that a WIN for them.

And that's what many of these anti-American's are calling for....

What I hear is a droning, monotone choir of cowards.

Yep, I gotta agree there too.

-----

Here maggie offers NO PROOF that just as many soldiers fighting are lefties. LOL She has NO CLUE.

And their universities, colleges are continually fighting about military recruiters coming onto their campuses. That's NOT being supportive of our military in any way, shape nor form.

Who does she think she's fooling? Not many. We can clearly see where so many on the left are against America going to war...ANY WAR.
------

And now we have old rehashed kerry, calling for a vote of the senate to see who agrees with him that we should set a date to surrender by the end of this year.

Didn't they just HAVE a vote because all the dems were talking about withdrawing THEN? Yes, we did....BECAUSE the administration wanted to call them on speaking out of both sides of their mouths.

And most of those DEMS who were whining and speaking out against this administration and the war....voted to keep our troops THERE.

Yep...that's being a coward too, imo. Saying one thing to the press....but then voting just the opposite.

So, maybe it will be a positive thing that kerry's asking for another vote. BEFORE the Nov. elections....then we can see AGAIN which party supports this war and which one doesn't. Or those who continue to complain about it....STILL vote to STAY.

Let their votes be made public, AGAIN.

While the democratic party complains about everything THIS President does to protect our Nation:

What would a Democrat president have done at that point? Apparently, the answer is: Sit back and wait for the next terrorist attack.

Freedom for who? The Iraqis never took your freedom away nor did they intend to.

You hate them and promote genocide so why do you pretend you are there to free them and bring them Democracy?

You talk of cowards yet the biggest coward of all is Bush and those of you who don't have the guts to admit that things have gone wrong so you continue to deny the destruction and blame those who do not support it as if they caused this mess.

Remember I said a couple of years ago that Bush was playing right into Bin Laden's plans and as long as Bush 'stayed the course' and remained predictable he would be an easy mark as Bin Laden's goal is to bankrupt America and grow terrorism? Nothing has changed, except it's got worse with even more terrorism, more lives lost, more hatred towards America and a huge financial mess. I'm amazed you can sit there so happy about it all......... thankfully those of you who support this carnage are just the lower part of society and not the main voice of America or the rest of the world.

Gunmen Seize at Least 50 People in Iraq
Twenty-One Students Slain in Attack North of Baghdad
By PATRICK QUINN, AP

BAGHDAD, Iraq (June 5) - Gunmen wearing police uniforms raided bus stations in central Baghdad, abducting at least 50 people, including drivers and passengers preparing to travel outside Iraq, including two Syrians, an interior ministry official said.

The attackers also seized people working in the area, where several travel agencies are based and buses pick up passengers traveling mostly to Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, Lt. Colonel Falah al-Mohamedawi said.

The victims were herded into more than a dozen vehicles. More details were not immediately available.

In other news, masked gunmen stopped two minivans carrying students north of Baghdad, ordered the passengers off, separated Shiites from Sunni Arabs, and killed the 21 Shiites "in the name of Islam," a witness said.

In predominantly Shiite southern Basra, police hunting for militants stormed a Sunni Arab mosque early Sunday, just hours after a car bombing. The ensuing fire fight killed nine.

The two attacks Sunday dealt a blow to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's pledge to curb sectarian violence. He again failed to reach consensus Sunday among Iraq's ethnic and sectarian parties on candidates for interior and defense minister -- posts he must fill to implement his ambitious plan to take control of Iraq's security from U.S.-led forces within 18 months.

Violence linked to Shiite and Sunni Arab animosity has grown increasingly worse since Feb. 22, when bombs ravaged the golden dome of a revered Shiite mosque in predominantly Sunni Arab Samarra.

Sectarian tensions have run particularly high in Baghdad, Basra and Diyala province, a mixed Sunni Arab-Shiite region.

On Monday, gunmen in a car killed two Sunni brothers as they were driving to college in the religiously mixed neighborhood of Sadiyah in southwestern Baghdad, police Lt. Maitham Abdul Razzaq said. The victims, Ahmed and Arkan Sarhan were in their early 20s.

In other violence Sunday, according to police:

-- Gunmen in a car opened fire on a minibus carrying telecommunications workers to an area near the Shiite slum of Sadr City, killing four and wounding two.

-- Police found 16 bullet-riddled bodies in Baghdad and four in the city of Tikrit, north of the capital.

-- Gunmen in Tikrit killed three police officers and wounded two others at a checkpoint.

-- Gunmen broke into the home of an Iraqi army soldier, killing him, his two brothers and father and wounding his mother.

-- Two gunmen on a motorcycle killed Muntaha Ali and her husband Helmi Yaseen in Basra, believed to be employees of a U.S. government agency.

Mass graves provide new evidence as investigators prepare more cases against Saddam
Associated Press

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Skeletons, many still clothed and wearing blindfolds, jut out from the desert sands in southwestern Iraq where forensics experts have unearthed at least two mass graves of victims from the brutal suppression of a 1991 Shiite uprising

The chief investigative judge in Saddam Hussein's trial, Raid Juhi, said they have documented evidence of more than 100,000 victims of the crackdown against Shiites in the wake of the 1991 Gulf War and unofficial accounts showing the number could be as high as 180,000.

"When the whole search is done, we could announce a number of mass graves and of victims," Juhi said during a visit Saturday to the grave sites, according to a pool report. "Some people were loaded on buses and taken somewhere and those vehicles and buses came back with no people on them."

Saddam and seven co-defendants are on trial for the killings of more than 140 Shiites following a 1982 assassination attempt against him in the town of Dujail — the first of what Iraqi authorities say could be up to a dozen proceedings. Saddam could face death by hanging if convicted in the Dujail case. But President Jalal Talabani, a Kurd, has said he doubted any sentence would be carried out until all trials were complete.

Juhi said there were more than 70 defendants in custody in connection with the 1991 Shiite uprising, including some who were in key positions during the former regime and others in minor positions.

He would not provide names, except to say that Saddam and his cousin, Ali Hassan Majid, known as "Chemical Ali," had been questioned by the investigation team.

Meanwhile, forensics experts and archaeologists are painstakingly searching for remains to provide direct evidence to the Iraqi High Tribunal, which is overseeing the cases against Saddam.

"This whole project is for the 1991 uprising and the killing of the Shiite people," said Michael Trimble, a 53-year-old forensic psychologist from St. Louis, who set up camp with about 120 people amid heavy security about three weeks ago. "We've located two sites so far and we are in the process of testing, I think, 22."

He said the killings were carried out in desert areas where the victims could be thrown into shallow embankments or simply shot there.

The bodies of 28 men, estimated to be 20 to 35 years old, have been found so far in one of the graves, with small blue, yellow and red flags marking the findings — including spent cartridges and bullets. One wrist still bore a watch.

The victims were wearing clothing favored by Shiites, including dishdashas, and most were blindfolded. The blindfolds appear to have been fashioned from keffiyehs, traditional Arab headdresses, said Kerry Grant, a 45-year-old Australian forensic archaeologist at the site.

One skeleton was wearing a blue jacket and his hands were behind his back, suggesting they had been tied. A plastic flip flop, a tennis shoe and some skulls with hair on them also could be seen at the site.

"Going by the clothing, I think they were grabbed very quickly," Grant said.

The leaders of the team of about 120 people said they were motivated to keep working, despite searing heat, by their desire for justice for the victims.

"When you work with the remains for a long time, you get very attached to them and you feel very badly for them," Trimble said, adding the remains would be repatriated when they were no longer needed as evidence.

Kerry also expressed regret that the team was unlikely to find all the bodies dumped in the area of about three miles.

"We know there is more in the area, but there is only so much we can do. We can't be here too long," she said.

The second site — in a ravine about 72 feet deep and 33 feet wide — had only been under excavation since late last week.

IRAQ CIVIL WAR UPDATE 6/05/2006

Gunmen kidnap 50 Baghdad transport workers
05 Jun 2006 13:20:35 GMT
Source: Reuters

By Mohammed al-Ramahi and Ahmed Rasheed

BAGHDAD, June 5 (Reuters) - Gunmen in police uniforms abducted up to 50 employees of Baghdad transport companies in broad daylight on Monday, Interior Ministry sources said, as a crisis over filling key security posts deepened.

They carried out what appeared to be a coordinated operation along a street that is home to several firms offering transport to Syria and Jordan, police said.

"It took them about five minutes to take people away. One, two, three, four -- one after another," said witness Hamza Ali, recalling the men with rifles and strapped with grenades who suddenly showed up in 10 pickup trucks.

The motive for the abductions was unclear but businesses have been hit by kidnappers for various reasons such as ransom, revenge killings and religious rivalry.

The abductions came a day after Iraqi leaders failed to agree on nominees for the interior and defence ministries, which were left vacant when a unity government was sworn in on May 20.

Iraq's political blocs had been expected to agree on names to be presented to parliament on Sunday but a deal fell through and the assembly session was postponed, dealing a blow to new Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.

Political sources said Maliki's rivals in his Shi'ite Alliance had objected to his choice for interior minister.

Maliki now faces a deep political crisis over the top security posts as he tries to show Iraqis he means business about stabilising the country.

The abductions in Baghdad showed how far Maliki has to go to establish law and order, three years after a U.S.-led invasion toppled Saddam Hussein.

"They just rounded people up. They also took 15 Syrians. They called out my name but I ran away," said Ali, the witness.

Last week, Maliki launched a state of emergency in the southern city of Basra to crack down on gangs and feuding Shi'ite factions threatening oil exports vital to saving the economy.

But he was quickly challenged in Iraq's second city, where residents say militia hit squads and armed gangs have gained enormous power.

A car bomb killed at least 28 people in Basra on Saturday and Sunni politicians accused his security forces of killing nine unarmed worshippers at a mosque hours later. Police said they were fired on from the mosque.

STUDENTS KILLED

Gunmen dragged 24 people, mostly teenage students, from vehicles and shot them dead in a small town north of Baghdad on Sunday, police said.

Baghdad clinic battles epidemic of missing limbs

By Ahmad al-Rubaye - BAGHDAD

Eight-year-old Ghada Tahseen stood silently as the doctor helped her slip on rubber overalls filled with plaster. It felt strange and uncomfortable but she didn't complain.

"I am really happy that I will have a new leg," she said after a plaster model of her missing limb had been made. "Now I can play again with my friends and go back to school."

She had waited months for this appointment to fit her for an artificial leg, months since the day a bomb tore through a crowded marketplace in her neighborhood.

Ghada was one of dozens injured in an all too common incident in Iraq's strife-torn cities, many of which daily echo with the muffled sound of explosions.

The Artificial Limbs Clinic, located in the north Baghdad neighborhood of Tunis, was established in the early 1980s at the beginning of Iraq's eight-year war with Iran, but never before has it been so busy.

"We are receiving a lot of people every day, and with every bomb that explodes in Iraq there are new victims that lose one of their limbs," said the clinic's physician, Doctor Inas, who prefers her last name not be used.

Behind her, on the wall of the room where she examined Ghada, are models of leg cups in various sizes.

Iraq's many wars have made its doctors depressingly familiar with the process of fitting new limbs.

Since the US-led invasion of March 2003, however, the violence has been random and pervasive, with ubiquitous roadside bombs robbing Iraqis of their limbs.

Some 85,000 people in Iraq have lost limbs, according to the Qatar Red Crescent which is looking into setting up an artificial limbs center in Iraq.
