People do adjust, think of the folks on the Carribean islands, most dont have air in their home.
They stay in the shade, wear light color clothes and drink plenty of water.

roadsmith, I'm S. of Tucson and some east or west, depending on which way you're looking. Hard up against the border. I'm about as far south as you can get and still be in AZ.

If you haven't been to the Rim country in a while, it's a shame what's happened to Payson. What used to be a peaceful ranching town with the world's oldest rodeo has turned into retirement heaven with strip malls and a WalMart super center. Looks like Phoenix with pine trees and the traffic is godawful.

and smoke plenty of marijuana too.
I just talked to a lady from 9th ward, she said Fannie Mae has a program for the Katrina folks, rent a house for one dollar a month for 18 months and then Fannie will help them buy a house.
Lord knows how many houses Fannie has,the house next to mine is a Fannie house,it was foreclosed by a small california bank and then turned over to Fannie

I guess a lady from the 9th ward is a reliable source of information on government programs, eh hwa? That 9th ward, those folks are on the inside info-track. Need to know something, just ask somebody, anybody from the 9th ward.

Is your opinion always based upon the last person you talked to?

just because Fannie Mae offers such a deal, she will remain under Section 8 ,she gets to rent a 1K townhouse with all bills paid, why switch ??

Well, today it's 90 degrees at 10 am, and HUMID! I sure hope it rains! We split and stacked wood for 1 1/2 hours before we melted. (And to think some people pay big money to sweat like we were!)

It is still triple digits here in North Texas. I have give up on rain. It spit at us las Friday and the temperature went down for about 2 hours to about 95 degrees, sure made a difference but humidity was way up. 102 right now and it is just 1:24 PM expect it to go above 106 or so by 3 or 4 PM . UGH
If I was female and a witch I would say "I am melting, I am melting".

Talk about the 9th ward I bet they are melting there too. It hasn't been showing any signs of hurricanes lately but I bet this next month will bring on some doozies--sure hope not for the sake of the gulf and Florida and east coast people that may be in their path.

Lordy just got my new electric bill and it is $369.00 this one covers all the triple digit 105 plus temps we been having all month. Thing is everyone with TU Electric is hot about their bills in THIS area of Texas because TU out in Lubbock is about half what we are being charged. Or so the paper says along with news channels. Of course you know how reliable the news is. Everyone is up in arms wanting answers as to our really high bills and it is not just me in my little podunk town. Since Katrina last year TU raised the extra gas charge when gas went up for that 2-3 week period never went down and apparantly is not statewide??. A-holes

Our electric bill runs about $180/mo all year. We have three computers, three TV's and band equiment going all the time. We don't have air conditioning and have learned to live without it. It does get hot here - the humidity gets intolerable the closer to the lake you get. But, it's not the electric that I worry about. We're still paying off last winter's gas bill! Only about $250 more dollars to go. I don't know what will happen this year.

It hasn't been too bad here lately. Just got my latest bill- $53.00.

Friday night we had a tornado warning here, kinda rare since we're in the mountains. The lightning was beautiful before the rain and wind started. Oh, and hail. Still haven't heard if one touched down....and me with no cellar...

Lucky dogs LOL not a commercial just you are lucky. But I hate tornado warnings KNOCK on wood hope we don't get any this fall. I live in tornado alley but this year no threat so far been too dang hot for them I guess. Twig where is it you live? I have a terrible memory for those details.

We finally got some tiny bit of rain and it is very nice this AM. But I have a big feeling we have not seen end of the triple digits either or the very high Electric bills.

irked- I live in north central PA. I could spit and have it land in NY, about 35 minutes from Corning, NY. Beautiful rolling hills~ out in the country. After so many years in various cities, I love country life. (Most of the time!)

The wife and I went up to Lake Seneca,N.Y. on Memorial Day weekend about 5 years ago. We stayed in some one horse town called Painted Post.We took a dinner crusie on Lake Senneca-took in some of the winneries on Lake Seneca and went to the Corning Glass works. There wasnt much else there to do.I looked around and couldnt imagine what that place must be like in the dead of winter-it was the pits.
