I went to the site and browsed very briefly.

I like the fact that shipping cost is stated explicitly.

I don't like the fact that there isn't an list of options with related costs.

What if I want the item insured?

What if I want it in a hurry and would rather the seller ship it overnight or priority?

The existing format seems reasonable for non collectible books as the shipping costs seem to reflect special standard mail rates.

I could almost believe that this site would remain free if it were affiliated or owned by PayPal since, if successful, it would produce a lot of PayPal money transfers such that the money would remain with PayPal longer and thereby increase PayPal's float.

pocono.. oops.. sorry.

To anyone.. (hopefully you have your email on for this thread), if you've signed up.. it would be prudent if you went to PP and changed your password, for the time being. If it's on the up and up, you can re-edit your information on this new site.. but if it's not, then you won't get screwed.

Passwords really should be changed periodically anyways so just consider this to be a 'scheduled maintenance' of your password.

Geez, someone comes up with a good idea and it turns to crap. Hope PayPal picks up on this and actually starts their OWN thing.

Well crap!!

I just changed my PayPal password after deleting my bank account number and CC#, but if this is a scam them it's probably too late anyway since they automatically pulled my name/address/phone from PayPal. No reason they wouldn't have already gotten the bank account number and CC# too.

Double crap!! Do I need to close my credit card account and bank account too???

I just signed up with AUXPAL but to play safe, after I registered I went in and changed my Paypal password. It sounds almost too good to be true but possible. If it was a password harvester - they won't be able to get into my Paypal account with the passowrd I registered with them

If I find out that it is a good deal, I can always go back and change it again.

Just a thought for playing safe.

Somebody e-mail me when ONE item on AuxPal sells for more than it does on ebay.

What's my e-mail address? Don't worry, you won't be needing it.

I just spoke with upper management at PAYPAL.

They are investigating this as we speak, and advise to NOT visit the website!

And more impotrtantly, DO NOT ENTER YOUR PAYPAL INFORMATION!

RainyBear ~ *if* they beat you to the punch and they've obtained your information before you changed the password ~ and you did not close/change those accounts...... you would not be held responsible for any moneys taken out. You would be reimbursed by the bank or CC company....... but that doesn't come w/out a price.. an inconvience and your funds tied up until it is resolved.

I would recommend, contacting the bank and your CC company.. let them know what's going on.. and ask their recommendations.

I didn't sign up.

Never do until I print out and study all the terms, privacy, agreements, etc.

Sure as hell is the way to go though if any other sites are listening!

sorry, this is kinda strange:

The owner of this site also 'owns' nobidding.com. He also owns med-files.com. (BTW: look at some of the auctions on the site, and you'll find the email address for the 'owner' and see that his is not verified at PayPal) If you look up med-files.com you'll see that the person who registered it, is using the email address planetbeanie.com. Planetbeanie.com is owned by tymail.com. Tymail is, of course, owned by Ty Inc. So, will the real owner of these domains please stand up.

Should it come as any surprise that Mr. Orlando has an automated mail service and that he is unavailable?

Edited because I can.

I recall a similar scam that occured a few months ago. It involved the infamous Apex 'do everything' DVD player with the hidden menu. The manufacturer, realizing that their product was garbage and was not getting sales, 'accidently' let the hidden menu code slip out onto the geek sites. Suddenly, the prices started to soar. eBay entrepeneurs started buying them up at Circuit City for $299.00 and resold them on eBay for $500.00 plus.

eBay eventually put a stop to these auctions because one of the hidden features allowed the user to defeat Macrovision protection and make/sell illegal copies of DVD's. The sellers went underground and continued to make huge bucks.

Then, one day, a post appears on one of the geek sites saying anyone could get one of these machines for 200 bucks - all they had to do was telephone an 800 number and provide their bank account number to the operator. Hundreds of naive people got scammed (for more than the 200 bucks!) and there is no recourse for them. The scammer did not have an address, although s/he is probably living in luxury off the coast of Spain by now.

btw - the term 'geek' is not dis-respectful ... that's what these electronics whiz-kids call themselves.

If something looks too good to be true (eg. "free PayPal", it probably is - avoid it

Even if this turns out to be a scam, I think Paypal would REALLY get a benefit out of this. They have 4 million members, that's a good potential auction base to work from.

I see they are opening up Paypal shops - I think they should look into doing this themselves once they shut this potential scammer down (if its a scam).

I finally got in,
Have you seen there listings, they are increasing by leaps and bounds.

I think everyone is just so eager for something "new" and different from eBay that they RUSHED to sign up and give it a try.

It didn't occure to me that they wouldn't be PayPal related.

They have a link to PayPal if you are not a registered user of PayPal yet.

This could really be good for PayPal.

I see paypal has their account page done and they even changed it a little bit.

Guess we'll have to wait and see what transpires.

I don't really BELEIVE this is a scam, just need to wait and see what transpires.

I HOPE for the sake of all potential users that it isn't, because it is a GREAT idea.

If i had backing, I would take this idea and run with it.
