Hey PaypalDamon

You might just have give the folks at eBay a reason to drop the ads for half.com that are coming up at the end of the auctions!

Yes, Virgina, there is a Santa Claus!

I'm a businessman with 83 employees under my head, my father with 376 employees under his head, and we never consult/tell/ask my employees (except management) about what I'm doing, or what I'm going to do, they only get the orders and follow those orders. So at this moment the paypal employees are just assuming and that includes to paypaldamon. I bet the PayPal CEO and its team haven't sleep since yesterday, at this moment they are reunited with the management and legal team trying to find the best way how they can make money AND/OR the best way to clarify this matter. The paypal employees have no clue about the last decision, they are just waiting like me and you, they are just speculating that paypal will shut down this site, but isn't that easy, after all this auxpal has also its legal team. SO don't expect a prompt answer from paypal, they will have to consider a lot of facts, at this moment all they can do is, stay calm and study all the facts and don't say anything.

Now what people want to know is how this auxpal had access to our personal information. So paypal also has to consider that, if they say we never endorsed this company, so how the heck this auxpal had access to my entire personal information (paypa database) what makes you believe that they didn't have also access to your credit card and bank account information. So paypal have to be very carefully before they give an explanation, one of the ways out to this trouble is to try to work with this nobidding company and say we allow them, ...I REALLY DON'T KNOW, but all I want to know is how they had access to the PayPal databases, PayPal you better consider in joining this new site, or you have to give your members a good explanation.

It would be ridiculous for PayPal to get involved with AuxPal.

It won't happen.

poton I have an honest question for you--please understand that I am in no way trying to be flippant. I really want to know this because I am trying to understand your posts and we have many people on this site that are not from the US.

Is English your first language?

Thanks...

It won't happen? ...I really hate to speculate, but personally I will be so happy is they partner, because there will more control, and the frauds will be reduced, there will be not many scammers as it's on eBay. auxpal probably can allow you to scam once, but if they receive many complaints they will suspend you, and there will be no more options to create new IDs, and scam again, of course unless you want to create a new paypal account and keep the word "UNVERIFIED" in red next to your ID. So definitely this site won't be DisneyWorld for the scammers. That's the only reason I like this idea.

POTON,

Your absolutely right. There is something wrong when a group of people are always getting ripped off like the group that does the most posting here does. Like maybe there is a whole lot more to the story than they are telling...

Or they just want to make something sound bad, when there isn't really anything bad to say.

Makes you wonder doesn't it?

Yes it does, after a long time of being here I just realized today, why people are so familiar with scams and frauds, and why they speak about that in a daily basis, like they don't know other language. I never though that I was in the middle of des people, that's amazing I though 90% of them were nice and very honest people trying to make a living off eBay, BUT I WAS !!!TOTALLY WRONG!!! I'm in shock, I'm really in shock. Now I understand why they always talk about frozen PayPal accounts, suspended eBay IDs and also all the hate about any business that can control their activities. WOW!!! I'M REALLY IN SHOCK!!! I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! But finally NOW I understand all these posts, it makes a lot of sense now. THAT'S IT FOR ME!! Now my job will be to track des $cammer$.

POTON & Freddy--I can only speak for myself on this issue. I have the best customers going on Ebay and Yahoo! I have very few problems with them--partly because I spend the time on these boards learning what people find to be good practices and what makes people turn away from ads.

I have had one person who tried to perpetrate a fraud on me. He is being prosecuted by the FBI. I was not the only one he contacted and tried it on. I started a thread and found a lot of help. Also, the fact that it was out and how the scam worked helped another person who needed money. She received a similar letter and wrote to me after seeing my thread. I was able to help her turn in the person who was trying the scam on her and saved her from being caught in the trap too.
These kinds of things help the community here so that we are more knowlegeable and can have the information to protect ourselves and our businesses. We help each other by getting the word out.

The second thing that happened to me was a PP incident. It didn't involve a customer--it was between me and PP. They removed money from my account without permission. Glitches happen, but as I was told by PP, it is the quick response by a company to catch their mistake and correct it. They didn't catch it, they didn't say sorry, they did correct it after months on my part of proving the problem to them. They are not a good company by their own definition.

All they had to do was say publicly, yes folks, we did make a mistake and had a glitch and so we are taking problems seriously because we have made mistakes and are working to correct the mistakes quickly. But, they were too worried about a black eye to be up front.

That is my problem with them. I never had a problem with transfers or people paying me through PP. It worked smoothly, but I have fired banks for messing with my money and not being up front as well, so I am definitely NOT gonna take it from an internet company that is not where I can go and knock on their doors and get my money or talk with a person. Integrity is uppermost in a case like this and I stuck with them through a lot of glitches as they were starting up until they showed that their integrity was compromised--I then packed it in and left.

At least ExchangePath is trying to be up front and take it on the chin when they make a mistake--and the latest was a doozie!

Those are my two stories in a nutshell. Overall, it isn't like the sky is falling and my life has been ruined because of them.

But, I appreciate those who do share their problems, whether it be packaging or TOS problems. I learn from those threads. I tweak my business to be the best seller for my buyers that I can be based on information that I glean from people who have been around auctions longer than I have.

I sometimes see things that I think are not appropriate or important, but it is a free board and we all have the right to voice an opinion on issues and sometimes we get heated about it. And I sometimes see a thread that I think "oh man, not another ____ thread!" But I don't have to look at it either.

Some people say that they have become experts in certain matters. Perhaps so, perhaps not. There are two sides to every story and there have been enough stories around here for us all to understand that. What appears a fraud is often just a misunderstanding and can be settled without the sky falling.

I agree that it can seem at times like everything is awful and there is just fraud and scams all over the place. Check the nightly news. If that was all you saw of the world, I am sure that you would not want to step outside of your door--in fact, I am sure you wouldn't want to stay INSIDE either! But we have other sources and the news is made up of the sensational. The same is true here.

As with any family or group of people, we often find people who irritate us and rub us the wrong way with their posts. We have an ignore button.

Happy Holidays and have fun on the internet. It's a great place to be!

My guess is that it was a legitimate idea that was poorly (and perhaps unethically)executed.

My guess on AuxPal is that they really wanted to start an auction site and came up with what they thought was a great idea to kick start the site since so many go under so quickly. "Let's use PayPal's customer base!"

Of course, it is up to each person to give someone their password, and it isn't the worst idea for a new site. Good gimmick.

They just should have cleared it with PP before trying it.

Actually, anyone who sells and accepts credit on the internet is far more likely to become a victim of fraud than a b&m retailer.

The article below has some enlightening statistics:

I know that a lot of you are thinking that I am talking about you when I mention the fraud reports. I don't want to mention persons or even specific threads because I don't want to point fingers.

Look at the threads. There are certain people who are always complaining about the same things over and over again. Like they are trying to scare people. About a month ago there was a bunch of it going on aimed at ebay, now of course Paypal is center stage with these folks. There is a handful of people here that I suspect are trying to scare people out of online selling and away from ebay in particular. Kind of like the miners in the late 1800's using ghost stories and the like to keep others away from their claims.
I am not the only one who has noticed this.

Freddy:

I've been posting on AW since May 1999. Just like real life, you will see people:

- who like to complain

- who feel the need to vent, and would prefer to do it among others who will understand and sympathize rather than take out their negative feelings on their families

- who feel the need to blame others for their own actions.

No conspiracy - just human nature.

Here on AW you tend to see a wider range of personalities than you likely encounter in your every day life simply because in your every day life you have more control over who you encounter or interact with.

Irene was very helpful to me when I had a bundle of fairly rare cancelled stock certificates dropped in my lap. Thanks to her ideas, I did very well on those stocks.

Edited to add: And I thought she was a HE for the longest time! Sorry!

I got an invite from auxpal like everyone else. However, I had registered (so they tell me- gotta check) with Nobidding.com

They said it was a special auction for Paypal customers....

This is quite a foreboding statement and now wondering just why Paypal is being so low key about it?
I sent email to auxpal requesting explanation why they are being considered a hoax.I recieved a reply with ONE sentence:
Auxpal is not a hoax! Odd......but then I am not sure we aren't being exploited by ALL the CC companies....... ```````running from the room before the pro CC guys git me! LOLOLOL
