NO progressive EVER would have escalated the VN war like HE DID. NONE. They're against war. They don't believe in acting in American's best interests....they NEVER have. LBJ LOVED the VN war and the way he ESCALATED it...proves that. His own party turned against him on this issue.
His 'entitlement' programs...were NO different than any other democrats.....they ALL do their best to ENLARGE BIG government. They WANT citizens dependent on the government....that way they can and DO control them so much better. LOL LOL ALL dems like that. It's NOT exclusive to progressives.
Plus all the 'entitlement's he did give to those 'poor people'...lol...have proven to have been a FAILURE. WELFARE. All they did was create MORE government dependency. Which is EXACTLY what the clinton administration worked to stop/reverse....so many on welfare. That's the SAME welfare johnson gave them and they took advantage of for generations. Like MOST entitlements the dem party gives so they can get more voters on their side. As long and they're giving HANDOUTS....they'll keep their voter support. lol

Maybe you should review some of the legislation HE voted FOR during his time in the Senate. He was NO progressive, by any means. He may have been a democrat....but he was a TEXAN FIRST. And he loved America......no progressive now-a-days fits that mold. He was MORE like THIS President....than ANY progressive.
They aren't called 'progressives' because they're FOR progress. LOL It's because they're the radical left who totally supports socialism.
Also...you might want to do some reading on where johnson stood FIRST on desegration....he was FOR segration...until it became politically expedient for him to change....kind of like your senator byrd did. No different.

I know where he stood first on desegregation. I also know that as far as politics goes, the proof is in the pudding. Do some reading yourself and you'll find Johnson listed by historians of every stripe as a progressive, in spite of your own blind sided views. Too bad they didn't ask YOU huh? You coulda set em straight once and for all.

well roadsmith....your statement again proves what I've said about MOST democrats before.
They vote the way they do because they don't understand the FACTS. Or they chose to deny them. That is the case with you...on this issue.
This President served our Nation and was given an HONORABLE discharge. Those aren't handled out to Presidents like clinton...who were draft dodgers....not that that mattered to any dem. LOL They've supported his doing JUST that. But want to make a big deal out of this President's service???
What hypocrites they are. Can't have it both ways. It's okay to NOT serve...but when one does...they deny he did.
But...that's the dems for you. They rarely know the FACTS of any issue....and that's why they support the dem party. Because FACTS don't matter to them at all.

No, profe. I have done lots of reading about what he did. I was a VOTER during his term as VP, after kennedy was killed AND when he was elected in '64. AND why he didn't chose to run in '68. He didn't agree with a LOT of the dem platform.
Plus I'm saving that back in those days things were MUCH different, politically, than they are now. We weren't such a divided Nation....where the left opposes anything that's in American's best interests.
JFK was the LAST dem president...that your party had who WAS willing to defend this Nation. He AND johnson. SO unlike ANY progressive today.
I know how some history has been REWRITTEN to sound much differently than it actually happened. That too is done almost entirely by the left.
Just like they helped America to FAIL in VN....they're doing it again, right now.
But NOW voters who weren't even born during those times...or were small children...unaware of how things went down then....are learning that like with the TET offensive that the LEFT [at that time] SWORE the US was LOSING.....in reality...we weren't.
But...that's the anti-war left for you. America SUCKS according to them.....needs to be brought DOWN so we don't think so highly of ourselves.

Linduh's anti-American rhetoric rings loud in that last post. And she wonders why this country is so divided??? She makes it quite clear that she believes DEMOCRATS (the largest group of the voting population) are traitors because they have a different view and perspective of what is important to American values and culture. Forget the fact that she does nothing but doublespeak. She doesn't respect and honor the Office of the Presidency. Instead, she only respects those she holds so dearly to her own political views, even if they conduct themselves criminally, she is there to sweep up the sh!t they drop on America. It is one thing to disagree politically, and another to misrepresent (or as I prefer to call it, LIE) about history as Linduh manages to do.
