Just my thoughts: Each auction/store site has a community. We, as sellers/buyers are given a soapbox to discuss problems, comments, strategies, criticisms.
On two sites I blasted them for lack of advertising and other things (search functions) and twice I was "suspended" and on one (I offer) I was "banned" without an explanation.
At the AMZ seller soapbox, we can discuss anything we want. We can blast AMZ, make suggestions, get strategies for selling. We even signed a petition to Bezos about some of the sellers and quirks with the site. If the new sites (those that came on board 1-2 years ago) don't want the community to speak out, they shouldn't have a "community" button.

Ironically I just made a sale at BV the site that has "suspended" me because of comments and at Ioffer I had 2 sales, but obviously the owners of those sites can't take criticisms. Doing well at AMZ, Half.com (no community center) and Halfvalue.com (no community center).

I would be curious to know if anyone is selling on BV, and if yes, what? and how? and if not, why do you think?
Just my 2c.

BV is adding Storefronts soon If you want to know if things are selling at BV, just take a look at the feedback of some of the Sellers.

The guy was bragging that he'd left eBay two weeks ago and had already sold three items!

http://www.bidville.com/community/messages/thread.asp?thread=483411&forum=100

The guy was bragging he'd sold TWO items.

Maybe I'm unique, but if I went to the trouble of leaving eBay and only selling two or three items in two weeks, I'd probably shoot myself for making such a stupid mistake.

http://www.bidville.com/community/messages/thread.asp?thread=485871&forum=200

This guy was bragging that he'd passed the 400 feedback mark. That SOUNDS pretty good, but he is a Sports Card seller, and that really is what Bidville is known for.

What I'd like to see is a seller of anyting OTHER than cards with over 400 feedbacks. Anyone?
Anyone?

The following Sellers don't wish to sign-up at Vendio...

"You are welcome to refer to me as a NON sportscard seller with over 400 positive feedback. And I do sell fairly well at Bidville, to boot."

Hog Heaven @ Bidville

"You are welcome to use me as example. In fact,I've just been doing my books-in March, I deposited over $500 worth of checks from BV-and this is just a hobby for me! Oops-my mistake-500 in april, 420 in march!"

Texas Treasure @ BidVille

-----------------

In looking around at feedback I will tell you what I noticed more than anything else... I noticed many, many nearly new Sellers who have already established themselves with feedback at BV. Isn't it about time you let go of your hostility toward BV and its Sellers?

Barparts, you had some very uncomplimentary things to say about BV and BV Sellers on your About Me page. Those words are gone and what stands out most now are those big bold red words... SUSPENDED Member. There's nothing like putting your motivation on display.

Thanks for posting Kodi

And thanks to HH, TT and all other BV Sellers who respond.

BTW, there may be more testimonials on the way. I didn't even do a thorough search and there are so many successful Sellers at BV it would blow even your mind. BV has been the best kept secret on the net until now. Thanks for doing your part with posts such as this one for so many years. I do believe you may have accidently helped to keep us on the map

What do you mean "now we know Bidvilles true colors"? I haven't been following the bashing and trashing here for quite awhile.

And as for barparts, he sold me broken junk. He also listed such cute things as "a rock" "a stick" "some air"... I notice many of the things he did not sell at BV he has listed at epier (I believe it may be epier anyway, might have been Bidway).

Regardless though, everyone has their spot. If you don't like Bidville - whatever man. You don't have to.

Barparts, you were suspended from BV, pray tell us why. Me too, but they suspend me for a week here and there and then they lift the suspension.

That goes to my complaint about having an open community. If you don't want people to complain about the site in the community, don't have a community button.

In the face of fact and reason that is the best Stonecold can come up with Kodi. He isn't that smart. A while back I put a special message in my auctions just for him and he STILL thinks I'm bidsbids.

Salgal, I don't recall your suspension(s) at all and I've been at BV for 3 years. I do know that it takes a lot to get suspended or at least some very specific criteria must be met in order for that to happen. If you went into your local department store and started yelling at the management because they were not doing things to your specifications you'd probably be arrested. It's one thing to make suggestions, it's quite another to come storming onto the boards making demands. BV has a new owner, and that's the ONLY reason we now have description search and advertising. Those improvements did not come about because demands were issued to the point of suspension.

Some of you seem to be having a problem distinguishing between the old owner and the new owner. The search engine has been upgraded and advertising is in the works. What is your current complaint? It's a new day at BV... Get used to it

A message from BV Seller jcut92:

I guess everyone has their opinions about Bidville, I guess thats their right, but I like bidville and have been there since they opened. I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THEIR FORMAT WAS GREAT!! COMPARED to Ebay its a breeze..Ebay is too hard to upload and everything about their format SUCKS!

It gets slow now and then, but its really a nice place to sell. I have been their since Jan 2001. So I guess you can say I have stuck around thru the pain and thru the good times.

Please go on and mention me. I sell all different items, from Jewelry to clothing..

A message from BV Seller Sammie0:

I have over 300 feedback at BV and have never sold any sports cards (wouldn't know one from another). I do buy occasionally, and I sell a variety of items and have been so very pleased with the new advertising and improvements made regularly to the site. This is part-time for me as I care for my invalid mother, and that is my primary job. I am so pleased with BV, and will continue to use it as my 'Home Port' for my auctions

sammie0

Congratulations on your first BV sale Salgal. Have a great day everyone!

Huge setback that I see right off the bat. As a new visitor coming to your site who has no interest whatsoever in sports cards... where do i enter my item search topic?

I see a "Search Cards" button but no other search vehicle on the opening page,on catagory page, etc.

As a seller I have no interest in spending time listing items when I cannot see a way for buyers to find them.

It gets even better when I actually do manage to find the catagory of items that I sell in. bid ratio is less than 0.5% of items listed. Try to check completed items to see if the items just typically do not sell or if bidding on these items is traditionally last minute and....... well, no completed item search capability.

After an iniital assessment of the site I come away feeling that there is no way for me to do accurate sales research and that it is not a user friendly site.

Probably good for hobby sellers but as someone that makes a living selling online, my time would be better invested exploring other avenues.

I thought everybody got bored and found something to do. Guess not! Wheres AuctionDOOFUS?
msCuFF2u I see you are still here trying to convince everyone how great Dudville is. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Dudville dudville, rah rah rah. 1.4 million items in 2700 categories. Have you taken a look at what's in these categories. Take a look at page 1 of ancient world and then look at the last page page 7.

http://www.bidville.com/browse/?index=2&cid=106&cn=Antiques+%26+Art&sid=136&sn=Ancient+World

http://www.bidville.com/browse/?index=2&bt=0&cn=Antiques+%26+Art&cid=106&sn=Ancient+World&sid=136&pg=7&so=0&tid=0&tn=

You don't need to look in between or any of the other categories to know they are filled with the same 10 cent cards. Dudville sucks, you are 100% right msCuff2u, it's a little less sucky than it was, but still pretty damn sucky. From The way their stock is heading south I doubt they will be around long enough not to be sucky.

Why do sellers waste their time puttering around on an auction site that (probably) most people have never even heard of??

I'm puzzled...

Oh well, to each his own.

Lucy - there are a couple different reasons to check out other sites. remembr that there was a time when no one had ever heard of ebay

Bidville was getting some decent ad coverage for awhile but I have to say I have not seen their banner as frequently in the past couple weeks. Also if you are selling new merchandise that you havecontinued access to it is nota bad idea to try other venues. Of course you have to evaluate each sites value individually and from what I could see, Bidville does not have much right now.

Fenix,

I don't think I've ever seen the name Bidville except here. Checked it out once, didn't see anything particularly interesting.

I don't think it's for me, I don't sell multiple new items.

Lucy - I do sell new items, and I don't even think it is for me. I definitely would not think it was good for you. Their banner ad had some pretty heavy rotation on yahoo homepage for awhile but it's appearance seems to be less frequent these days.

I have quite enough to do on eBay. Certainly don't need or want another site, especially one that sounds like it's doomed.

I wasn't BANNED from BV I was suspended temporarily from BV. I have an account with them and can buy/sell, but I can't post to the community.

Ioffer totally banned me, kicked me off the site and I can't do business there at all, not that I want to.And when I complained to their management that they still had my credit card info, they totally ignored it and then locked me out of the site altogether. They are not nice folk, don't know what the h*** customer service is, and are not in it for the money, otherwise, they would have told me why I was banned from the site. It was a very juvenile move.

What a dork cuff is. Claims he put a special message in his auctions at screwupville, and yet no one on these boards could ever find it. Then there is Kodi. You want to talk about crap. She says her feedback is over 400. Then you realize it is from buying marginal items at best and selling very little. What ever happened to that deadsite alaska auctions? Must be with Carnaby somewhere.

I've been at Bidville since Jan. 2001. I have 394 unique feedbacks, but 2027 individual feedbacks. Of course, not every buyer leaves feedback. Very few of my feedbacks are from buying.

I've never sold a sportscard. We sell a large vairety of collectibles, hand crafted items, vintage jewelry, etc... Our sales have ranged all the way from 10 cents (during special promotions) to well over $100.00.

I like Bidville because of the friendly atmosphere, and the ease of listing. I enjoy the wide variety of collectibles there. Unlike Ebay, with it's retail store atmosphere. I have no problem finding the search options, or finding items I'm interested in. I guess ya have to be willing to open your eyes when you go there. The improvements that have been made, since the new owners came in, are outstanding.

At this time, to say that no one has ever heard of Bidville is a bit ridiculous. They are indeed becoming well known. And that's largely due to some of the posters here, who can't seem to get past their fear of Bidville. Come on, honestly, there couldn't possibly be any other explanation for the obsessive taunting of Bidville or anyone who dares to actually enjoy selling there. I have some great repeat buyers who heard about Bidville right here! Thanks y'all!

I've only bought one item from Ebay. The experience was, at best, confusing, cold, and not worth repeating. But I don't obsess myself with berating Ebay. I don't fear them, and I don't need to. I just figure that if folks go to Ebay and don't like the site, they'll leave of their own accord. You see, since I've grown up, I try to think like a big kid now.
