How many user ID's do you have on ebay and why?

For example, do you use one for bidding and one for selling? Perhaps you use one for posting purposes. If you use one for bidding and one for selling, please explain why. If you use one for posting, explain that too

Don't put all your ID's here though LOL!

I have one eBay ID. Probably 97% of my feedback is from selling.

I am at 270 positives, 1 Neutral, 0 Negs

I've left 376 comments.

I keep it at just one because I just can't manage keeping track of more than that.

I have two ID's. One is my primary ID which I use mostly for selling, plus some buying. My secondary ID is used mainly for selling things I don't want my family to know about (such as gifts I've received or risque items ) and for buying things I don't want them to know about (such as gifts for them).

Edited to clarify that by "family" I mean my mom & dad and my brother. My husband knows about everything I buy or sell unless it's a present for him.

Three...

The first one... Used it to buy and sell for a while, then left Ebay for about a year. (registered 3 years ago)

Returned to Ebay to sell and had forgotten what the ID and password were (since it had been a year) and created a new one. (registered 2 years ago)

Created a second one just for buying, since sometimes I will buy the same type of items that I sell. I don't want my customers to know that I am bidding against them in one auction and they are buying from me in another. (registered 18 months ago)

Next year I expect to sell under all three. (if I can find out what the first one was) This is because our product line is expanding to the point that a bidder clicking on "view seller's other auctions" gets a long list of unrelated items, so we want to sort them out to increase multiple bids and make it easier for our bidders to find more items of interest.

To answer the next obvious question...

Over 1,000 combined positive feedbacks, zero nuetral, and zero negative.

I have two for the very same reasons as RainyBear.

I recently added a 3rd just so I have the name reserved. If I ever opened a B&M store I might use that name.

Gosh, I have several - some I can't even remember what they are! I only use 2 of them though. My main one is for selling. It has over 3200+ feedbacks, 99% positive.

My second name I use to purchase with - but I have just started also using it to sell my low-priced items. It's kind of like my "clearanced" items. I have 44 feedback on that one, all positive.

The only time I used any of my other ID's was if I was buying for someone who I didn't want them to be able to find out what it was (since it was most likely a gift for them!).

Because I used to have buttons on my web site that led to various lists of collectibles on eBay, I had a user name for each category. That way, someone interested in Civil War collectibles didn't have to look at a host of our railroad stuff mixed in.

We'd post Civil War under one user name, railroad under another, geological materials under a third, bottles under a fourth...

In addition, another user name was used to buy under.

When we started to shift stock to other auction sites, it got crazy.

Now we're down to two (one sell and one buy) and the customers just have to look through our lists for whatever they collect.

Two.

I sell two different types of merchandise..china, glass, collectibles on one id and books on another.

I try to list about 400 auctions on the china id every month and 200 on the book id...I don't want my china customers to have to wade through pages of books to find similar china items...and the reverse is true of for my book buyers.

BUT..I do have an auctiva showcase on every auction that has ALL my current auctions showcased so the customer can see everything I have listed.

Three

One for buying. Because I collect alot of what I sell and do not want to bid against my own customers. Which I have under my buying ID before...
And the other two for selling. Folks wanting vintage chenille, porcelain, garden decor, etc. do not want to wade through used saddles, spurs, ropes and other western collectables.

I only use one, which is for selling, but I have another one in case I want to use it.

Lots of people have multiple IDs on eBay,
there's nothing wrong with that. One ID for each type of item sold, multiple IDs for bidding, so other bidders don't track you if you're well-known for buying in that area.

The usual...one for bidding, one for selling, one for sniping for my friend/relatives, one for bidding/selling something that is a little more private in nature, one for posting on the DNF board, and one with a cool name because I like it!
Joke!

Seriously...
I just have one for selling and one for bidding...as I learned from the sagatious folk here at AW.

Go to any search engine and type in "free email addresses" and you will get a zillion free email address services.

Here is a page that lists several:

Your own ISP may provide additional addresses at no cost or for a fee. You can also get one right here at AW.

There are many, many sources for additional e-mail addresses. I wouldn't be surprised if someone were to post a link to a directory. I don't know if one exists but we'll both soon find out.

Hi, mtnmama - CNN offers free email with lots of interesting addresses - like auctioneer.com.

You can sign up with any free email address, but you'll have to provide a valid credit card number. As I understand it, the same credit card can be used to register an unlimited number of ID's, unless that's been changed. Scary, isn't it??????

I have 2 IDs of my own, one for bidding & 1 for selling. I also actively use my boyfriend's ID so that I can watchlist up to 60 items at a time. I do use his ID to bid occasionally as well (on buy-it-now items) since his ID is credit-card verified already and my IDs aren't. He's happy because he already has 15 postitive FB's on his ID, and he's only made one Ebay purchase of his own!

Wow, pickersangel, I didn't know that about the credit cards! Maybe I will think twice!
My ISP was involved in the recent merger that produced verison...went to their web page, but could find no info about how to get a second e-addy from them- perhaps that is a phone call question, so thanks, xardon, for that info and the DIRECTORY! Thanks to all of you who addressed my 'ignernce', as Granny would say!

I was under the certainty that they wouldn't charge me on it for my fees. The first time they did it I was kind of surprised.

I have six if you count the networker67 but was accused of having hundreds. And what's strange is I only ever used networker67 for everything. Chatted with it, bought with it, and sold with it.

The other five were for use when ebay's questionable safeharbor/support practices like to play judge jury with no facts, which I was a victim of before. So had the extra ones to use for gotta have items during any period of ebay management ignorance. Like our current term.

Kudzurose,

Very nice .com too. Thanks, but I have access to free emails and I know MzKittie -oops- I mean MizScarlett does also.

You see she posted on another thread that she was just "stunned" to hear this happening on any site, so I thought I'd unstun her a bit by others telling what they know. And I thank you all for posting.

Moderator, you may close this thread now. I believe she's served her purpose by posting here as another alias.

Thank you.

I think you have ME confused with someone else. I am mizscarlett1 on ebay. There is a mizscarlett and a mizscarlet1 (with one t) on ebay. I have not posted my opinions on any other board. I have nothing to hide and no ulterior motive for the questions i have asked. I live in NC and my name is Dani McKinney. There is an about me page on ebay: mizscarlett1. ??I don't have an inkling to your 'accusations'.

I apologize for seeming so abrupt in my post... I was very upset at coming here, seeking answers, only to feel I was being attacked by someone I do not know, over something that is obviously a mistake. I have never posted anywhere under any name other than mizscarlett or mizscarlett1. I have always respected the folks that have helped me here and would like to continue, but i think this will do it for me. Too much rippling water when I didn't even jump in.
