C'mon, C'mon Ebay! I've got other things to do besides check the Ebay Announcement board every 5 minutes! Anybody else starting to think maybe they are not going to have it this year?

Yes, I know what you mean. And Mom's asking me is it free yet? I'm getting some new items written up in case.

I've been wondering the same thing. I saw where they had free listing days for every other country over the past few months so am waiting for our day! Hope it comes soon or they will catch me in the middle of last minute Christmas preparations and I won't get to list during it -- but then again, maybe that is what they are waiting for? A time when we will all be too busy?

I keep checking and hoping.

Glad to know I'm not the only one obsessively checking the board and drumming my fingers!

My guess is that it will be tomorrow the 20th. It always seems to be about 5 days before Christmas. Let's hope or else I just spent 30 hours scanning low-end stuff I otherwise wouldn't bother listing.

Last year, IIRC, they announced it about 10 pm Pacific Time; I woke up to find out it was FLD and had to get busy, even when I had many other things to get done as well. This year, I'm prepared and I'll be mightily disappointed if it doesn't happen.

If the item is only worth $1-2, I'm not spending 25 cents to list it; the paper goods I'm talking about can (and have) languish a little while longer. These things actually do sell, but rarely at high enough a profit to justify the 25 cent listing fee.

total listings are still dropping. below 4 million now. THAT is usually why they have it. My bet is still for the 21st.

Posted on the eBay Announcement Board on 12/19/00 at 18:54:57 PST.

***Free Listing Day***

As a thank you for conducting your business on our site, eBay will be hosting a free listing day beginning at midnight PST tonight (12/20/00) and ending at midnight PST tomorrow (12/21/00.) This will apply to insertion fee credits only (insertion fee will be waived at the time item is listed.) All other fees (home page featured, featured plus, highlight, bold, gift icon, gallery and gallery featured) will still be charged.

This applies to the US site only with a few exceptions:
* Great Collections will not be included
* eBay Motors listings will not be automatically credited but will be credited afterwards (date to be provided)
* The 30 day option for listing in the Real Estate category will NOT be free

In order to help alleviate some of the stress on our servers, description search will be limited to the first 1000 characters during this 24-hour period.

Thank you for a great year!

Regards,
eBay
