Pocono thank you for what you have done here for your fellow posters.

Good morning everyone: It is now 9:17 a.m. eastern time on Christmas Eve, and Guess what? I still have not heard anything back from Alien Distribution. They have not updated their website in weeks (they promised they would!) Prior to bidding on their auction which ended on Nov. 3, I emailed these people to find out if I bid and won on Ebay auction 481491062 "Would I receive my computer before Christmas?" Their response was "Yes"! I placed my bid and won... I paid them immediately through Paypal. So now, let me count...that's 7 weeks and 2 days that I've been waiting and waiting and waiting..............
They don't reply with updated information through emails and their UPDATES ON THEIR WEBSITE ARE OUTDATED (12-8-00)!!!! NOW THEY WON'T EVEN RESPOND ON AUCTION WATCH! YOU ALIENS DON'T HAVE ANY RIGHT TO BE ANGRY, YOU'VE BEEN PAID!!!

ALIEN: I just got an email from another bidder of auction 062, he got his computer last night. You promised him he would have his computer in time for Christmas and you came through for him. What happened to your promise to me? This other bidder didn't really think he would get his computer on time so he went out and purchased another one. I am happy for him, but I can't afford to go out and buy another computer right now.

I understand “growing pains,” and failure to anticipate unusual amount of sales – BUT I just did the math on the $15,000 income, at an average price of $500 – that is only 30 units, it seems like a small amount of units to overburden anyone’s system for the length of wait time customers are telling of.

Honestly, what this sounds like to me is a small time dealer, who only BUYS the product AFTER they get your money to finance the BUY. Many small time dealers do this, and in the process have problems getting their own deliveries, therefore you have to wait till they actually get in the product you have already paid for.

Basically, this is selling something you don’t have and having your customer finance it. It is done quote often on TV – that is why you see shipping times on many mail order items of 4 to 6 weeks.

jwpc: Please search a bit deeper.

ALIEN DISTRIBUTION COMPANY has sold several hundred PCs in this same time period, on various different auction sites.

Well in excess of $100,000.

Twelvepole: THANK YOU! I'm on it

Has anyone who received a book pc that contains the 667mhz chip had any luck in
getting the machine to actually run @ 667?
The 667 chips can only run that fast when they are on a motherboard that runs at 133 mhz. My chip is currently only running at 500Mhz since I can only get the motherboard to run at 100Mhz. I have tried contacting the Alien Distribution Company's support line and email address, but have never received a response. Has anyone determined if there is a way to get the machines running at the correct speed, or is it a case of the Alien Distribution Company putting together a product with incompatible parts? The ADC mentioned a flash upgrade, but after several tries at contacting them all I have received was a auto-response, which just contained fluff how they were going to be improving things. Of course, none of the improvements have materialized.
I'm still hopefully waiting for my speakers,
although I did start pricing them at shows since I don't have much confidence.

There are still no tracking numbers or updates on your website. I still have had no updated responses (changes that were supposed to have been made by 12/11 but weren't) to my emails. YOUR CUSTOMERS DESERVE MORE THAN THIS!!!!!

Unfortunately, Yahoo does not have the same system in place to prevent shill bidding, it doesn't seem. There is an interesting pattern of bidding on recent auctions, with the same names appearing on several. The new incarnation bid on nearly half of the PC auctions and another one of AD's bidders has won over $1500 worth of auctions on 18 Dec. Another auction reached the buy price, so their bid was topped. Let's hope that they are not non-paying bidders.

And people are still surprised they are waiting?

Community, I know where you are coming from. Luckily I received my computer last week and my speakers a couple of days ago. Reread Pocono's message on 12/22 & jwpc's on 12/24. When my system arrived I did question the box exterior. It had a perfect picture of the system on 3 sides of it. When a "small" company builds a system they are not going to shell out more money than necessary to design a color descriptive packaging for a product. Instead they use a cheap & economical means of packaging. I'd considered they obtainied an overseas supplier who had a "finished product" but I have been in Vegas and did not get a chance to divulge the info.

I don't believe that Alien built the systems, but that Alien is having problems obtaining the units from the overseas supplier for some unknown reason. Anyone who has had overseas dealings knows that it usually takes up to 8 weeks for product shipment depending on production time & how much you are willing to pay for shipment which is often very expensive.

If you are dissatisfied, request a refund but read the legal disclaimer first. I requested a refund if my system was not to arrive by 12-23 and low and behold it arrived - although I am on the bottom on the 274 auction!

I was also in the 274 auction, and I have only received my speakers thus far. I also wrote alien distribution an email asking if I was going to have my computer before christmas a month ago, and they said "ŸES". In my view, they are nothing but deceptive theives. Hopefully they will get up off their @$$es and get our orders completed. They are pathetic being that their last update for the status was 12/11!!! Maybe they're just too busy off having their vacation in Hawaii or something like that with the dough we've given them.

I have been watching the postings here since the beginning and I am starting to feel guilty. I received my alien pc and speakers right after thanksgiving. I really have enjoyed it. This is strange because I am usually the one who gets screwed. I just hope that it continues to operate the way it is because if you guys can't even get your computers, who knows what trying to get service or tech support will be like. I attempted to buy another computer earlier this year through an auction and never received it. Are all computer auctions this half assed or are their real companies who know how to treat customers with dignity and respect? Just my two cents. Happy Holidays.

If what you say is true, chris, then AD is even more pathetic than what I thought. Can't even leave negative feedback for them on ebay since they aren't registered. I would like to let people on yahoo auctions know about them, but they don't include email addresses for winners or bidders like ebay does. I should be hard at play on the new computer playing QUAKE III(bought a copy in expectation of arrival of PC), rather than sitting here complaining on my roomie's crappy 266 Pentium II...Which is still better than what Alien Dist. has given me (speakers only).

I'm not absolutely sure, but that's how I've seen them sold. If they claimed to manufacture them and they didn't manufacture the whole thing, then that is wrong. However, selling this "presystems" seems to be a fairly smart idea. Lying about it, isn't.

I have some questions for AD. First since AD reserves the right to cancel our orders after sixty days and then have thirty more days to refund our money, are we nothing more than a short term interest free loan to AD for operating capital? Second, would we have received our computers had we bid higher on the Dutch Auction? The bidders of 481491062 were about the lowest at $445.00 for a 600MHZ book PC. Their profit margin was considerably lower then the margin for their direct sales price of $599.00 on the website. Is it in AD's best financial interest to give us our computers as promised or let the sixty days run out and then give us our money back some time later?

I asked AD these questions in an email and received no response. Let's see if the Michigan Attorney General receives an answer.

60 Business days + 30 Business days = 90Business days.

90 Business days = 18 weeks.

ALIEN DISTRIBUTION COMPANY is making MEGA interest off of your money, and if/when you DO finally receive your systems, it will already be two technology cycles old.

FILE CHARGES and COMPLAINTS RIGHT NOW!

AD says on their website they upgraded us from 600Mhz to 800Mhz because they don't want our machines to be old by the time we get them or whatever, right? Looks to me like that if we ever get our computers, they had better be making that about 1.5Ghz since it appears it will take them about that long. HOW LONG CAN IT TAKE TO SLAP IN A HARD DRIVE AND PROCESSOR???

Well, I hate to say it but I think we were had. For those of you who don't get all the e-mails we actually have a case worker named Detective Prather on the Washington State Police Force. If you would like her phone number plese just e-mail and I'll give it to you. All I wanted was a cool new computer for my mother, her current machine has issues. I can't get a reply from alien dist. co. for anything. I bid and paid via pay pal on 11-03. I called four times 2 weeks later then my name appeared on the list as paid........then nothing. I wanted to give them the benifit of the doubt, but my time for legal recourse is running out. And to think I was excited, I thought I was a auction "winner" not loser. Thanks Alien, I guess I'll be spending my Christmas to New Years filing complaints with every company that will accept one, instead of celebrating. The only good news is I paid with Citi Bank and not a check.
