And an UPDATED and FULL report from the SAME article 'waco'peepa posted by Reuters:

Also says:

Feith, who left government in 2005, welcomed the finding that his activities were legal and authorized but said it was "absurd" to conclude that his work was inappropriate.

"It, of course, varied from (the) consensus. It was a criticism of that consensus. That is why it was written," he said in a statement.

Republicans loyal to President George W. Bush rebutted Levin and called Feith's work an intelligence critique that required no formal vetting process.

"I don't think in any way that his report can be interpreted as a devastating condemnation," said Sen. James Inhofe, an Oklahoma Republican.

Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who replaced Donald Rumsfeld in December, did not comment on the substance of the report but said intelligence should to be handled through established channels.

"If intelligence is inadequate, then changes need to be made in those institutions to improve intelligence," Gates told reporters in Spain.

U.S., Iraqi Troops Find Weapons Caches

ASSOCIATED PRESS
BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP)
U.S. and Iraqi troops found 14 weapons caches and detained 140 suspects in a week, focusing on mainly Shiite eastern Baghdad in the initial phase of a security sweep to end the violence in the capital, the military said Sunday.

More than 7,400 patrols and 34 operations were conducted in the week of Feb. 3-9, said U.S. Brig. Gen. John Campbell, the deputy commander of American forces in Baghdad.

He said he was encouraged by the early results.

"With the cache finds this week, the detentions we've made and creating a larger presence on Baghdad streets with the establishment of another combat outpost, we are making headway with the Baghdad security plan," Campbell said.

"This is only the beginning."

The chief military spokesman, Maj. Gen. William B. Caldwell, said Wednesday that the much-anticipated Baghdad security operation was under way. His remarks came about a month after President Bush announced he was dispatching 21,500 more troops to curb sectarian bloodletting.

Funding for VA slashed in 2009

Tuesday, February 13, 2007

By ANDREW TAYLOR
ASSOCIATED PRESS

WASHINGTON -- Iraq War veteran Christopher Carbone said he wouldn't mind a decrease in his medical benefits if it meant that additional federal dollars would be used for armored Humvees on the battlefield.

But Carbone, a survivor of an improvised explosive device attack in Iraq in October 2005, couldn't help being a little jarred when he learned the Bush administration planned to cut funding for veterans' health care by 2 percent in 2009 in order to balance the federal budget by 2012.

"It's kind of surprising," Carbone, 28, of North Haledon, said Monday. "It's one of those things that you always expect to be taken care of after everything you do."

Both LIAR_K and Bear know the majority of our troops are not being killed by Al Quaida they are being killed by Iraqis. They show how wicked their types are trying to change the focus of BUSHY'S failures in Iraq.

The very good news is CONS like LIAR_K and her step son Bear have been put in a tiny minority with little political power.

All the CONS like LIAR_k and Bear have left is a BIG MOUTH with very little political power to back up their deceitful ways. Millions or better put the majority of Americans plan to keep these CONS that way. The Majority have their type surround watching their every move.

U.S. says "sophisticated weaponry" hit chopper in Iraq

Wed Feb 14, 2007 8:44am ET

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A transport helicopter that crashed in Iraq last week killing all seven on board was brought down by a "sophisticated piece of weaponry", the U.S. military said on Wednesday.

It was the first time they acknowledged that insurgents could be using complex weapons to attack its helicopters in Iraq.

A spokesman did not say what brought the Marine Ch-46 Sea Knight down on February 7, but an insurgent video released at the time showed what appeared to be a missile hitting the twin-rotor helicopter, sending it plummeting to the ground.

The spokesman, Major General William Caldwell, made the statement at a news briefing in Baghdad that concentrated on presenting evidence of what the U.S. military says is proof of Iran's involvement in arming Iraqi militants.

9 Shot As New Orleans Starts Mardi Gras

Feb 16 5:05 PM US/Eastern

By MARY FOSTER
Associated Press Writer

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- With tourists streaming into town for Mardi Gras celebrations, a spasm of gun violence left two people dead and seven wounded _ more bad news for a city struggling to rebuild itself and its tourism industry.

Officials noted the bloodshed did not occur near any of the parades Thursday night to celebrate Carnival, which culminates Tuesday in Mardi Gras.

The two unrelated shootings were not random or part of a robbery, and the victims were all targeted, Sgt. Joe Narcisse said.

In the first shooting Thursday evening, three people were shot, two fatally, in a car parked in the Ninth Ward, far from the heart of the party. The survivor _ the car's driver _ told police he knew and had given a ride to the man who shot them, Narcisse said.

Another shooting wounded six people, one critically, early Friday at a Mid-City nightclub. The gunman escaped in a stampede that followed.

"Once again it's a situation where violent crimes are taking place in inner-city neighborhoods and traditional hot spots," said Mary Beth Romig, spokeswoman for the New Orleans Metropolitan Convention and Visitors Bureau. "The truth is, Mardi Gras continues to be one of the safest times for tourist to be here."

In January, the Convention and Visitors Bureau unveiled an aggressive advertising campaign to attract tourists to the city 18 months after Hurricane Katrina.

In the French Quarter, some tourists seemed unconcerned by the violence.

"A lot of people back home told us not to come," Lisa Pencak said. "But we have crime in Pittsburgh as well, it's really no big deal. You have to be careful anywhere you go."

It's not that anyone wants to see America fail, nor do they ever wish to see more of the troops or the innocent Iraqis killed or injured and billions more dollars wasted away. Anyone that thinks like that would then believe that the majority of their country who is not in agreement with the war wants to see their country fail and that's just foolish.

I think the problem is that there are those who view Bush and his government as 'America'. Since the majority of Americans are not in agreement with what Bush has done or what he plans to do it becomes quite clear that he is not a representation of America. He is only an incompetent leader who became power happy and obviously didn't know what he was doing so should be stopped before doing something worse than he's already done.

I couldn't disagree MORE if I wanted to.

We, as Americans either want to ADMIT DEFEAT or we don't. THAT is the issue here, imo.

To admit DEFEAT as the far left wants us to do is NOT what the majority of Americans want done.

They're tired of this war dragging out...they're tired of all the money it's costing....

...but only the IGNORANT would believe MOST Americans would want us to ADMIT DEFEAT to the muslim TERRORISTS.

Senate Gridlocked on Iraq Troop Buildup

Saturday, February 17, 2007

WASHINGTON —  The Senate gridlocked on the Iraq war in a sharply worded showdown on Saturday as Republicans foiled a Democratic attempt to rebuke President Bush over his deployment of 21,500 additional combat troops.

The vote was 56-34. That was six short of the 60 needed to advance the measure, which is identical to a nonbinding resolution that Democrats pushed through the House on Friday.

Rice: Baghdad plan off to a good start

UPI
Feb. 17, 2007 at 7:02AM

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice visited Baghdad Saturday, where she said a new security plan was "off to a good start."

Rice said the timing of the plan aimed at quelling sectarian violence in the Iraqi capital "was not ever intended to be a single day, but to ramp up over time," the Washington Post reported.

Rice met with about 250 U.S. soldiers and diplomats at the U.S Embassy, where she seemed to speak of the U.S. Senate's scheduled vote Saturday on a nonbinding resolution voicing disapproval over President George Bush's plan to sent more troops to Iraq.

"Some do not think this war was the right war to fight," she said, the Post reported. "Some believe we in the administration haven't fought it quite right."

But she told the troops and embassy staff that their work in Iraq is "noble" and necessary," the Post reported.

Rice was also scheduled to meet with Iraqi officials.

"What's Gone RIGHT in Iraq"

Let Smith and other critics visit Iraq and talk to Iraqis who are:

organizing for democracy, development,
and human rights.

Let them talk to the families that lived in constant, humiliating fear under Baathist rule.

Let them see some of the roughly 300 mass graves of opponents of the regime who were brutally slaughtered in the hundreds of thousands.

[b]Then they will find out who the devil really was[b].

With that as a preface, let me get to the point, what's gone right in Iraq?

This much is obvious:

Saddam Hussien, the real devil, is out.

Here it helps to remember that Saddam himself was more dangerous and destructive than any weapon of mass destruction, which we know for a fact he was obsessively trying to get his hands on one.

He started two major wars, costing an estimated million lives.

He hosted and aided 23 international terrorist groups,
initiated ethnic cleansing in which at least 200,000 Kurds have been murdered

and an estimated 800,000 were forced to leave their homeland, and

killed as many as 300,000 Shiites following the failed uprising of 1991.

It is hard to name any common value that Saddam has not violated during his nightmarish rule.

Saddam was a time bomb that threatened the entire region and indeed the international community.

He had to be defused, and should have been deposed a long time ago.

Thanks to the United States and its allies that Saddam, "the butcher of Baghdad" is today no longer among us, residing at different address.

Nor is this all - "much more good news is coming out of Iraq. But, unfortunately, in our post-modern media culture, good news is no news while bad news sells: "If it bleeds, it leads"¯.

To be sure, when a gigantic generator comes on line in Baghdad,

when new industries, factories,
hotels, and
shops are coming online, when schools,
hospitals and
health services are being renovated, and
when major investment is being undertaken to improve water and sanitation standards,
there are no mentions of them in any major news media, nonetheless they are important events for the Iraqis.

Often overlooked is the Kurdish region of Iraq, which has undergone a peaceful, democratic transformation, setting an example in democracy building for the entire Middle East.

Kurdistan operates as a virtually self-sustaining democratic and economically functional state governed by the rule of law, including an elected parliament, independent judiciary, education system, and free media, as well as being supportive of women's rights/education and minority rights.

Another important success story for Iraqis is the crackdown on the Mahdi army, led by the rebel Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, who refused to play by nonviolent, peaceful rules of the democratic game and wanted to shoot his way into power.

According to President Jalal Talabani, now, al-Sadr is hidding in Iran, reported by Washington Post.

The Sunni insurgents-cum-terrorists are neither an essentially large problem, and the fall of Fallujah within six days, which was unparalleled in history of counterinsurgency warfare, is in itself a proof that they lack popular support, and their ability to strike would consequently diminish.

But over the long run, it will be democratic Iraq that could defeat Islamic fascists in Iraq once and for all.

One particular paranoiac fantasy should be discounted: that terrorists, by suicide bombings, are going to defeat the United States and democratic Iraq.

No, the terrorists cannot win in a very vital country with direct access to the world's energy reserves. I am even prepared to say that Iraq will be the first building block of a new democratic Middle East.

"While the democratic party complains about everything THIS President does to protect our Nation": "What would a Democrat president have done at that point?"

"Apparently, the answer is: Sit back and wait for the next terrorist attack."
